IPod crashed. Need help gettin my songs back when computer will NOT sync with iPod

My iPod crashed and now I can't get all my music off iTunes to put back on my iPod, also I can't get my iPod and computer to sync. What should I do? I spent over $200 for a new 8 GB 4th gen.

Hi Ashley...
My iPod crashed
You need to restore your iPod before trying to sync with iTunes.
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software
If the iPod won't show up under Devices left side of the iTunes window in the source list, try here >   iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • Songs on Authorized Computer Will Not Sync with iPod

I upgraded the hard drives in my computer that contained my iTunes library when one of my RAID disks failed. I was able to recover all of my data (all documents, photographs, songs, etc.) but I had to reinstall Windows XP and all software becuase the OS was compromized on both RAID drives (why, we don't know). (I've read the "helpful" advice from Apple that you should "deauthorize" your computer...before the hard disks crash! If I knew they were going to crash, I would have done more than "deauthorize" my computer.)
When I installed iTunes, it looked into my disk and found my music library. Two things happened:
    1. Some albums, but not all, got split up so that a few songs were separated from the balance of the songs on an album. This is a real problem when I want to listen to a symphony and only three of the four movements show up, for example.
    2. All of the songs that I had downloaded from the iTunes store were now “unauthorized” on my computer. Although it made me upset to waste an “authorization,” I went ahead and authorized the computer (although all I had done was recover a disk that could no longer be played). Then I tried to sync my computer to my iPod. All of the iTunes downloaded music did not appear on my iPod. In fact, when I sync, iTunes says that my downloaded music is not authorized to be played on this computer and, hence, isn’t authorized on the iPod even though IT IS authorized on the computer (i.e. I can play it on iTunes from my computer just not from my iPod).
    BOTTOM LINE:
I have been unable to figure out how to get the music that is now "authorized" (again) on my computer to show up on my iPod so that I can listen to it on the iPod.
I also need help to reassemble my "albums" so that they include all of the songs that were orignally part of them.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Well, you'll have to look at this article to see if it will help for the albums getting split up - I have no idea why that would have changed, but see if the "Compilation" checkbox helps.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1468
Those directions are for itunes 7 - in iTUnes 8, the compilation checkbox for multiple items is on the Option tab.
And for the song not going to the ipod, try this for just one song - remove it from your itunes library (but NOT your hard drive!) and then re-add it back into itunes. It might go to the iPod then.
Nobody has ever posted back whether this works, but you're not alone on authorized songs not syncing to your iPod. More and more folks are seeing this since itunes 7, esp with older purchased songs. Newer purchases seem to sync just fine.

  • TS1702 I recently purchased several apps that will not sync with iPod touch.  Of 5 apps, three won't sync.  Computer is authorized, I've reinstalled apps, nothing works. Any ideas?

I recently purchased several apps that will not sync with iPod touch.  Of 5 apps, three would not sync.  I updated all software, checked authorizations, and reinstalled the apps -- no luck.  Any ideas?

All the apps state they are compatible w/ my model iPod Touch.  No restrictions are set that would prevent syncing.  Seems like I might have had a similar problem a while back with one app but can't recall the solution -- it was something simple.

I restored my iPod Nano 4th generation to original settings and now when I try to sync it with iTunes, only a few songs will transfer and I get a message saying file could not be found. Some of the songs in my iTunes library were transferrred from another computer and the files somehow did not transfer. However, even the songs I purchased recently will not sync. I have tried downloading the latest version of iTunes and restarting my iPod. Help!

  • Itunes will not sync with ipod touch

itunes is installed with the latest version of itunes. all of a sudden, itunes will not sync with my ipod, itunes sees it, when i click to sync it goes through the motions, but never syncs. I get no messages or errors, it just never syncs. the ipod is seen in my computer as a portable device. windows 7 64 bit system. I had the apple store verify the ipod is fine, they emailed me the directions to uninstall all apple apps and reinstall. still, same thing. some of my playlists will not let me move songs within the playlist either, i get a blue border around the songs when i try to. not all of the playlists, only random ones

  • Apps will not Sync with iPod Touch

    Hi,
I bought three new Apps this morning thru iTunes store.  They will not sync with my son's i-Pod Touch.  (The Apps are compatible with the iPod Touch).  When I plug the iPod into the computer and I click on the Apps tab at the top, the screen is grey and I cannot click or unclick the 'Sync Apps' button.  What can I do?
Thanks for your help!!  It is much appreciated.

    - Is the iPod connected to the computer it was last synced with? Syncing is different than manually managing music.
    - On the iPod go to Settings>Store and see who is signed in.  To change, just log out and sign in the correct account.

  • A youtube movie clip will not sync with Ipod classic

I downloaded a short movie clip from youtube using Vdownloader. The clip downloaded to my movies in Itunes.
However it will not sync with my Ipod classic, and comes up with the error message "the olympics opening sequence was not copied to the Ipod, because it can not be played on this ipod."
Previous movies using Vdownloader have copied to the Ipod okay. I am running on Windows XP.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Let's just say that if your mvies are rent or bought, they are possible for snycing on your classic, but if they are downloads they won't be able to sync on your classic...

  • HT1369 Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync with iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple sloution?

Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple solution.  Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.

Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • IPod Classic songs were wiped out - will not sync with iTunes

iPod Classic turned on and has zero music - somehow wiped out.  Will not sync to iTunes - iTunes freezes when iPod is connected but works fine when no iPod connected.  iPod was reset to the original date of 2000 and mostly sits with the apple logo.  iTunes has current version - tried resetting the iPod but iTunes still does NOT recognize the iPod.

Fixed it after some more fiddling - restored iPod from the frist sync a few days back, and then tried again.

  • Itunes will not sync with iPod

I have a new computer and have transferred all my music from the old computer to my new computer. I now have over 100 songs that will not sync to my iPod. I have gone through all the steps to "deauthorize" all my old computers, authorize my new computer, validate my two apple accounts (I ended up with two over time) and verified my passwords are correct. I have done everything I can find recommended to others, yet when when I try to sync my iPod, it tells me I am not authorized for all my music. Even when I login (which works), I still cannot sync my music. Any other thoughts....

I'm not sure how to reset or restore the iPod. I turned it off and on a couple times and that didn't help.

  • Why will Apple notes will not sync. with iPod or iPad

Why will Apple notes not sysc with iPod or IPad from Mountain Lion?

IMAP is a type of e-mail account.
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/imap
Apple says you can use an IMAP account to sync notes, but I haven't yet spotted how you set this up. iCloud is easy and free, though, and for me at least has worked quite well to sync my notes among all my devices.

  • ITunes will not sync with iPod, but opens MS Outlook '03

When I try to sync my iPod (5th Gen 30GB Vid) with my iTunes (ver: 7.1.1.5) I get the following error: "Attempting to copy to the disk "MOM'S IPOD" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. iTunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your Music Folder and folders in your Music Folder, then try copying this file again." Also, for some reason, Outlook 03 opens. I removed Outlook, and still recieved the same error, but this time Outlook didn't open. I also removed iTunes, Quicktime, and Apple Updater. I removed all iTunes entries from the registry, and rebooted. I downloaded iTunes 7.1.1.5 to my hard drive and re-installed all the iTunes stuff again. The error still occurrs. Any suggestions?

    OK, here's what I did:
I removed iTunes, Quicktime and Apple Updater
    Rebooted computer
Searched registry for every iTunes entry and deleted them
    Rebooted computer
Searched C drive for anything with iTunes in the name and deleted them
    Emptyed the recycle bin
    Rebooted computer
    Downloaded iTunes 7.1 again
    installed iTunes
    Syncs like a champ
