IPod crashes my computer after XP to Vista upgrade

my ipod 60 GB Video crashes my computer when I connect it after upgrading to Vista from XP. I followed the instructions regarding uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling itunes after the Vista upgrade. I could not set my ipod to act as a hard drive and my computer has crashed 3 times once I connect the iPod and iTunes starts updating.

  • After upgrading from XP to Vista Ipod crashes my computer

I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled according to Apple's Vista upgrade instructions. I was unable to check enable iPod as a hard drive and when I connected my 60 GB Video iPod my computer fatally crashed on 3 separate occasions. Looking for any help I can get.

Seeing as you have already read the articles from Apple about Vista, there is nothing I can say except to wait for the next version of iTunes, which will fully support Vista.

  • World of Warcraft crashing my computer after ugrading graphics card to RX2600PRO

After i upgraded my AGP graphics card i cant run WoW anymore. The card is RX2600PRO-T2D256Z/D2, and it crash my computer a few seconds after game is loaded. The windows crash log says HW error. But i don't think it is, since everything else is working find.
So i wonder, can it be something in settings? If so, what? I tried reinstall drivers etc, but still crash. I can run other 3D games without any problems. Also i can overclock the card to max. Still running smooth, so i guess the card is OK.
How can i test my RX2600PRO-T2D256Z/D2 card? Is there a program that test memory, CPU on a graph card?
Looking forward to get some ideas.. to solve or find out whats wrong :P

    Tommen,
Try to see if you can get any other cames to crash with that Vid Card in your comp. Also try the Vid Card in another comp to see if the problem follows the Vid Card or stays with the comp.

  • Sync iPod to new computer after old one crashed

    My MacBook recently crashed. :(
I had my iPod Touch 2G synced to it. I know how to sync my iPod to the new computer and keep iTunes Purchased content but what I don't know is how to sync it and not lose any songs, pictures etc. that were not downloaded from iTunes. Can someone please help?
    Thanks in Advance!
    Adamb14113
P.S. I do have a backup of my iTunes library because we were able to save my data from the old Mac but it was not fully up-to-date because I had begun to download most of my things over the air without ever plugging in to iTunes.

Make sure your newly set up MacBook is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

  • Can I transfer music from my Ipod to my computer after computer crash?

We had problems with our computer and had to run recovery on it. Everything that was stored in the computer is gone, including all the music we downloaded to ITunes from old CDs. All the music is still stored in my IPod touch. Is there any way I can transfer the music FROM the IPod back to my ITunes library?

    Welcome to the discussion,

There is 3rd party software out there to do what you want, but not supported by Apple, so you'll have to do this on your own risk. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Ipod crashes my computer.....

Every time i connect my 30gb ipod video to my computer it crashes.... Earlier it would update completely and then it would go to the blue screen - so i thought i could live with it. Now, as soon as it is connected, I get the error message. Here's what i've tried so far:
    1. Restarting the computer
    2. Resetting the ipod
    3. Moving the USB from my hub directly to the USB on my computer - and changing USB ports on the computer (neither worked)
    4. Uninstalling and re-installing both itunes and ipod updater - it wasn't until i did this that the computer would crash as soon as i connected the ipod
the error tells me to run a chkdsk....but i can't have the ipod connected to the computer long enough to do so...is there a utility on the ipod that i can use to scan it for corruption?
Is there anything else i can do? Did anyone else have a similar problem and how did they fix it?

If your iPod is working fine as a standalone player, the problem is likely to be a software issue with XP and the iPod Service that gets installed with the iPod software for Windows. Are there any utilities you can run (something like RegCleaner) to make sure all traces of the iPod s/w and iTunes are removed when you try to clean them off? I'd suggest doing that, then booting into Safe Mode and running a scandisk in Windows and while you're at it, running a good spyware removal tool too like AdAware or Spybot Search & Destroy, all in Safe Mode.
Once you're certain all traces of iTunes and the iPod s/w is gone, and you're sure your PC is spyware-free, then reboot as normal and reinstall everything from scratch.

  • Blue Screen Crash on computer after updating Storm software

My software ran fine , but after updating my Blackberry software, my system give me the blue screen of death.  The specific error is a multible Ir request.  My system crashed three to four times per day. This went on for at least 8 months.   Due to a virus issue I reinstalled windows XP and all of my software.  Due to previous issues I did not reinstall Blackberry Software until two weeks after rebuilding my system, during this time I had no issues.  I reinstalled From the CD then updated on the web to the current version.  Within 2 hours of install the same Blue screen odf death returned.  I am running on a Dell Latitude D820.  All computer updates are current.  All drivers are new after install.   Clean install is only two weeks old.  Anti virus installed.  Thanks For any help.

On your re-install for the Windows software are you are you keeping all of your previous backups? It could the BB Desktop Software databases and registry that is corrupt. Try to re-install the Windows software and install BB DS from scratch without using previous databases. If you install on another PC using your same disk is it giving any problems?

  • IPod classic freezing computer after restore

My iPod had to be reformatted from mac to windows. I went to the iPod front page and clicked restore and it went through the restore process fine. When it was finished my iTunes locked up so i reset my computer. When I turned it back on it started fine then froze iTunes again when I plug the thing in. I went to my computer and it wasn't able to actually get into the iPod, it was showing up as drive "I" already and I have no other peripherals attached. I reset my computer again, updated iTunes and plugged in my other iPod. This one worked fine, transfered songs correctly and what not. Tried the other one and it's still freezing. What the **** happened? It's an iPod classeic 30g serial: 8K6322JEWEJ

When i start plug it in after disabling iTunes from starting when I plug it in I'm able to browse it through my computer. I formatted it and then it showed up in iTunes again. When i restored it again it is back to doing the same thing, even on another computer with a completely fresh install of iTunes.

  • Playlist on ipod different from computer after disconnecting

Hi! This just starting happening once I upgraded to Itunes 9. I sync my ipod and iphone and the playlists (mostly just my top 25 most played) are the same UNTIL I disconnect them from the computer. Then they're magically different. HELP!

Frequently a restore is required for your problem:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod crashes when playing podcasts since iTunes 7 upgrade

As the title suggests, ever since installing iTunes 7 on my Mac Pro, nearly every new podcast episode I attempt to play on my iPod results in crashing/rebooting said device. After the problem started with just some podcasts the issue has since spread like a cancer to my entire podcast library.
Here is the really bizarre part: if I preplay the podcast(s) on my Mac within iTunes, they run successfully on the iPod. But then and only they will they play successfully. If a fresh (unplayed) podcast is downloaded to the iPod, it instantly and spontaneously reboots the moment I attempt to play it from there.
iTunes 7 has unleashed a torrent of bugs on my Mac. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any Apple product.

I am having the same problem. And I am disturbed that no one has responded since after searching other forums, other people are having this issue as well.
I have a 5th generation iPod and run the new 7.0 iTunes on my Windows XP Pro.
I have not yet tried to listen to the audio Podcast direct from my computer yet, but my iPod certainly crashes and resets itself whenever I try to play the Podcast.
I have already tried to unsubscribe from the Podcast this affects, and then re-subscribe, but the problem still occurs, no matter how recent of an episode I try to listen to.
iTunes 7.0 = Greatly disappointing thus far. Any sort of reccomendation, suggestion, friendly, and/or helpful advice would be lovely.
    Thank you!

  • HT1420 How do I de-authorize an old computer after a hard drive upgrade?

I wanted to authorize my laptop, but I need to de-authorize my desktop computer's previously authorized hard drives that have crashed and were replaced (more than once) bringing my total to 5 computers. Any options?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
