Ipod cuts off a song?

alright, it's been a while.
I've got one song a friend of mine made, and gave to me (we do music gigs together), but the track cuts off at about 24 seconds, and goes to the next song. Funny thing is, it plays fine through on my iTunes, but just that one track cuts off on my ipod.
Thing is, I have over 10 songs that we've done together and the other ones play fine. Still, is this an issue with encoding? I've tried reseting the ipawd and whatnot. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi. This is a known issue. The iPod Classic seems to fail to play the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed earlier iPod's, has been happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored but causes the iPod to bail out. The workaround is to get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g. convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if & when the bug is resolved you can put your original file back onto the iPod.

    reformatted ipod, resynced, same problem.
    help!

I have also had the same problem...
The songs appear to be random, and when I plug my iPod into the computer it is fixed. Sure enough, a monthish later, it happens again.
When my songs get cut off, they are stopped exactly half-way through. Apparently, the iPod thinks that is how long they are, because it plays the time that it shows (the total time only goes to helf of what it normally is).
This does not seem to be a matter of old software, as I am always up-to-date on iPod software, and this has been happening to me with version 1.4.1
I have not Restored my iPod, but apparently that will not help (according to the other posts).
I hope somebody can answer this (although I've posted it twice before with no luck, so...)

  • Ipod cuts off digitally converted analog songs

I converted a number of my vinyl albums to digital files so I could put them on my ipod. In the conversion process, something happened so that when I play the songs on my ipod, they cut off before the end. This is curious because when I fast forward through the songs on my ipod, all of the songs are there. I suspect that something in the conversion process messed up the listed times for the songs.
Does anyone know of a way I can fix this?
    thanks

    They play correctly in itunes.
The mistake I made was converting the ripped wave files into mp3s. Somehow the way this conversion was done did something to alter the listed times for the songs. The whole song is there but the ipod cuts off at an earlier time.
If I could edit the files to change the listed time, I think I might be able to fool the ipod so that it plays the whole song.

  • IPod cuts off after 12-15 minutes of running.

iPod cuts off after 12-15 minutes of running.  I'm using the Nike+ app. This happens frequently..

    Hi Chris,
I have never used font management software/plugins, I use font book to validate my fonts. I have used imagenomic's noiseware for 32bit in the past but it is disabled as I am running in 64 bit. I do not use a lot of plugins etc. I did install the optional extention plugins from adobe when trying to solve the issues I have been having.
I finally installed a firewire 800 harddrive to use as a scratch disk, I realize this is not ideal, but I am limited with my iMac.  I used it last night for around 7 hours and everything seemed to be working much better, my efficiency never dropped below 90% and I was able to flip my canval horizontal for the first time in months without receieving an error. I am hoping this is a longterm solution, howver I do not know why moving my scratch disk would affect my memory usage/efficiency.
    Thanks!

  • IPod cutting off songs/iTunes not recognizing iPod correctly

    Hi,
I have a second generation nano using a PC with Vista operating system, and using the latest iTunes software (7.6.1.9). I have been noticing that more and more of my songs on the iPod have been cutting off, either a few seconds into the song, near the end, etc, but are just fine when played through iTunes from my hard drive. At first it was just a couple of songs, but then more and more started to cut off. Then, the iTunes started telling me that it wasn't able to read my iPod correctly and that I should restore it to original settings. I did that a few times and kept reloading the songs, but the problem still occurs seems to be getting worse. Tonight when I plugged the iPod in, iTunes said that it "detected an iPod but couldn't identify it. Unplug it and plug back in." I did, and it read it, but that particular problem also seems to be getting worse and I'm afraid soon it won't be able to detect the iPod at all (and this latest message was after I updated with the iTunes latest version). It seems like the actual iPod software is corrupted, and that its software needs to be re-installed, not the iTunes. Am I wrong in that assessment? How would I go about doing that? I can't seem to find any clear instructions and I don't see many people reporting this problem.
    Thanks,
    Robyn

  • Song on iPod cutting off after a few seconds

A particular song on my iPod keeps cutting off after just a few seconds. When I play the song in iTunes it plays just fine. I've tried deleting the song from my iPod and reloading it, but it still does the same thing. I have several hundred songs on my iPod and this is the only one I've had any trouble with ... please help!

Have you updated iTunes and iPod Updater??

  • IPod Cutting off songs

There are a handful of songs that cut off part way through when playing on my IPod. They cut off in the same spot every time, but they play fine on my computer. I have tried restoring & reloading the IPod, and it just starts happening with different songs after.
    Any ideas?

  • Ipod nano 6th generation cuts off some songs while in the shuffle mode

When I'm listening to music in my playlist (shuffle mode) some of the same songs get cut off short.  If I listen to the same song in the Artist folder, no problem.  Anyone had this issue?

Is VoiceOver turned on?  See here for more help on how to turn it off if need be.

  • Ipod cuts off while playing

Suddenly, my ipod within my iPhone cuts off while playing in the shuffle mode. Most times this occurs while I have it in my pocket and am moving, but I have no idea whether this matters or not. It will either cut off completely or skip to the next song after cutting off in the middle of the previous song. Is there something that I can do to fix this?

I have the same issue. The phone works fine if I am sitting around, no problems listening to hours of music. I ride my bike and have the phone in my jersey pocket and after about 15-30min it starts going into an auto pause mode to the point I can no longer listen. This is very annoying and I think it must have something to do with the motion sensing causing the pauses.

  • Ipod turned off mid song - blank screen and wont restart

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano - used quite regularly but it has not sustained any known damages (not been in contact with water - not been dropped). I updated my ipod today - bought 9 songs and they synced in no problems. I was listening to the ipod in a doc for about an hour and then during one song the ipod suddenly cut out mid song and I cannot get it going again since.
The ipod has a fully blank screen - totally black.
I have gone through the steps via ipod - pressing inner circle and menue keys at same time. I have connected the ipod to the computer. I have re-started my computer - nothing...still blank black screen.
I tried contacting tech support via apple but it won't recognise my serial number! Its an authentic ipod - bought in an electronic shop.
The serial number is on both the origonal packaging and the ipod - but is not recognised by apple.
I am so upset - don't know where to go from here! I have years worth of music on this ipod which I am very worried about losing..and cannot really afford to dish out for a new nano right now.
    Any suggestions for me?

  • HT204406 Problem with iTunes match cutting off a song on my iPhone, not Mac or PC

I have purchased the Katy Perry album "Prism" outside of iTunes and matched it with iTunes match. When I try to play the first song "Roar" on my iPhone, it plays only part of it and then cuts off and plays the second song.  This only happens on my iPhone, when I use iTunes match to play the song on either my mac or PC using iTunes, the song plays fine without any issues.
I've tried turning off iTunes match, and then starting it again, no luck.  I powered off, then on my iPhone, no luck.  I've downloaded the song out of the cloud and still has the same problem... anybody have this problem too or can help?

    Some additional observations:
When I look at the album, the song "Roar" has a length of "2:05", but once I play the song by pressing it, the song begins playing and the slider shows a length of 3:39 (close to the correct length).  However, once it hits 2:03, it stops and starts playing the next song.
Interestingly, using iTunes on my mac, the song in the album view shows "2:04" but once I double-click the song, the length changes to "3:43", but plays the complete song without any problems.

  • Itunes and Ipod cut off music

Most of the tracks I have downloaded cut off part way through. This has also started happening to songs I have uploaded from CD. I have reinstalled itunes as directed yet its still happening. Any advice?

Not sure about your CD rips, but regarding store downloads...
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the problem tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • ITunes cuts off every song at 2:54 when trying to burn a CD

I'm using iTunes 10.5.3.3 and Windows 7 (64-bit). When I try to burn a playlist to a CD, it cuts every song off at 2:54 minutes. I have tried three different albums now and it does it every time.
Any assistance would be appreciated. I already updated to the latest firmware for the DVD drive.
Also the albums were purchased from the iTunes store, so I cannot try a different program to rip them.

Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.
With that one, I'd start with solution 3 from the following document:
iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install

  • After latest update iTunes cuts off all songs after about 3 secs.

Just updated iTunes to version 11.1.3.8.  Now when I attempt to play my music from the Cloud each song begins and then cuts out after about 3-5 secs.
Same thing happens when I attempt to listen to previews in the iTunes store.
Sure hope this isn't related to the problem discussed in an 18 month old thread I found here.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
