IPod Dead after charging!

Hi,
Has anyone else had this problem, I fully charged my iPod and turned it off and locked it with the hold button on top, headphones not connected. I went to use it next day and it is completely dead, wont even switch on.
However connect it to the computer or mains and it starts charging again from scratch. It all works when connected to a power source and it works after initial charge etc... but leave it for any length of time and zero.
Any idea what is sucking the power from it when its switched off?

How to turn on 6th gen iPod Nano after charging?

Hello, could anyone help me with this issue:
My iPod Nano was completely drain out of battery so I was charging it this morning, I want to ask is it normal when your iPod doesn't turn on quickly after charging after completely out of battery? is it different from iPhone (in iPhone it will show charging sign)?
What should I do to check if my iPod is charged correctly? or this is a sign that my iPod was broken? please help, thanks
I left my iPod at home and still charging it for the next two hours.hoping it will turn on again.

If the iPod's battery had fully drained, it could take up to at least half an hour before your iPod begins to show any signs of life, depending on whether you have it plugged into a USB port on your computer or connected to an external power adapter.
For now I would let it be. If still no signs of life after a while, try resetting the iPod.
To reset iPod nano:
First, make sure iPod nano is charged. Then press the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Ipod touch 3rd generatio, after charging I turned on the device and it show to connect to itunes and is frozen will do nothing, any suggestins what might be wrong with this devise?

I've had a similar problem with my older 3rd gen ipod touch. It could be the hardware. Try holding down the home button and on button at the same time for a couple of seconds or connect it to itunes for a bit. I also leave it alone for a while then it seems to unfreeze itself. Are you saying it's still frozen after you connect it to iTunes?

IPod dead after carrying out RECOMMENDED security update! Any ideas?

At the beginning of December 2006, I installed the most up to date version of iTunes when prompted to do so. I was then informed by iTunes that my iPod required a security update and so I downloaded this update. My iPod (5th Generation model) seemed to freeze half way through the process. It keeps attempting to load and then crashing when I try to switch it on. The iPod is now no longer being recognised at all by My Computer. I tried all of the recommended troubleshooting steps and advice with no success.
My iPod now doesn’t even turn on properly and given that the PC doesn’t recognise there is a device attached to it, we cannot take any of the troubleshooting steps to fix it.
If changes had been made to the PC, these may have caused the problem and I could have looked at some troubleshooting solutions such as tweaking with the PC registry, updates of drivers etc. However, it is clearly not a PC issue as I have tried to plug the iPod in to three PC’s with no success. The iPod hard drive no longer starts so I'm 99.9% certain it is an issue with the iPod hard drive – the security update has essentially scrambled/killed the iPod hard drive and it seems to need to be completely reset. I have tried the '5 R's' and that did not work. I also managed to get the iPod into diagnostics mode and it says it has issues!
I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with my iPod prior to attempting this security update (which was recommended by Apple). The iPod has therefore mal-functioned through no fault of my own – if I hadn’t been prompted to download this security update, I have no doubts that it would still be in good working order.
Any ideas!!
PS - this essential security update and subsequent death of my Ipod occurred exactly one day after my 1 year warranty expired!! Call me a cynic but do I smell a rat?
5th Generation iPod Video 30GB Windows XP

My problem started after downloading 3.1.2. It gave an error message that said it could not install the program due to an error. It gave me the option of sending the error message to Apple. I declined. My ipod now only displays a screen that shows a usb cable being plugged into itunes. The computer will not read it and it will not sync. My ipod is basically dead. Ive tried all of the fixes to restart it but have had no success. Holding down the power and home button did not work. I held it for nearly 20 seconds. The power will shut off then the apple will appear. Then the usb cable appears again. I purchased my ipod on 10-1-09. Im going to take it back for an exchange.

Playing IPOD mini after charging battery

Afternoon all,
I have just recharged the battery on my IPOD mini on my computer at work and now when I go to play it. The apple sign appears followed by a folder with an explanation mark and www.apple.com/support/ipod
I have gone to the website and followed all instructions. I have even found myself being in disk mode on the ipod, yet still I cannot play anything from the music list.
Could someone tell me whether the computer I am using to charge to battery on needs to have necessary software (i.e. itunes etc.) in order to charge the ipod and all in all, can anyone help me get it working again please?!

Sometimes (only) charging your iPod from a USB port causes problems. My suggestion is:
1) Play your Mini until the battery dies (unless that has already occurred)
2) Charge it completely from via the wall charger
If it doesn't return to semi-normal after this, your battery may be shot. No, you don't have to have iTunes loaded on a PC to mount (and charge) your Mini as an external USB drive.

Older iPod dead after doing reset...

I have a second generation iPod nano. It's been working fine but I just plugged it in to charge, the apple logo came up as usual and it froze. I reset it by holding down the centre and menu buttons. The screen cleared but since then it's dead. there is no display even if connected to pc/power. Help?

Believe it or not sometimes it helps if you put it on a flat surface and then try and reset it. Make sure the hold switch is off and using TWO hands for this hold the menu button and the select (center) buttons down at the same time for about 10 - 15 seconds. Try that out.

IPhone dead after charging..

Hi, This is the first iPhone I've owned, has been really great but tonight it's died.
I went to plug it into the mains using the adaptor that came with it. As I plugged it in, it lit up as usual said it was charging, so I left it and when I came back, the whole phone was hot to the touch including the glass. My immediate reaction was "oh ****" and unplugged it. I've tried to turn it on many times with no luck. The thing is dead. I've tried to plug it into the pc but the lights are off inside this thing.
What do I do, I desperately need my phone working or I'm going to have a lot of trouble working the next couple of days!

They replaced the phone completely Lets hope this one doesn't have any issues

Ipod Died After Charging

I have a 30GB video Ipod. I was using it yesterday and the battery died out. I charged it last night for use today, but went to use it this morning and there's absolutely nothing appearing on the screen. I tried to recharge it again tonight and again, even on the charger there's nothing - not even the sad face I see people writing about here. I checked the 5Rs. It's not on hold, I tried to reset it, but again - I get nothing - just a blank screen. I am in the process of downloading the ipod updates - still 1 1/2 hours to go on that - but I'm not really sure how that can help. I've only had this since Dec. '05 - not even quite three months. I can't imagine the battery is actually toast. Does anyone have any suggestions? When I tried to reset it - I toggled the hold switch on and off as stated and then pressed and held menu. Nothing. Am I doing that wrong?

Not that it matters, as long as my problem is solved, but does anyone know what causes this to happen to begin with? Just wondering if I'm doing something I shouldn't be that might've caused it. I didn't do anything different than usual, but thought I'd ask.

IPod dead after recharge

I did nothing different during recharge 3 days ago. The last thing my ipod did was show the battery-charged icon. I disconnected it from my computer, and...nothing. when i reconnected it to my computer, it did not appear on my desktop or in iTunes.
i've had this ipod since mid-may '05.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Try to reset if any of this doesn't work: Hold the MENU and CENTER buttons until you see the Apple logo on your screen and then release the buttons.

Ipod dead after installing new software

Hi,
I downloaded updated software for my husband's 3g nano (last year's birthday present), so that I could install the Nike sport software (this year's birthday present!). The ipod software downloaded and installed fine, I didn't do the Nike one.
The next time he tried to turn on the ipod, there was no response at all.
The 'lock button' is not on.
Plugging it into a PC with a USB cable that works with my own ipod (same model)has no effect.
It appears to be completely dead.
It is only a couple of weeks out of warranty, bought 21/09/2007, fired up 29/09/2007 or later.
We have 5 ipods in the family at the last count, and mine is my third since the first one came out. We are definitely loyal customers, so I would hope that Apple might see it's way to stretching the warranty a fraction and sorting this out for us.
To whom can I appeal for help?

Try:

THIS STUPID IPOD NANO IS DRIVING ME FREAKIN' INSANE!!!!!!
it's completely dead, and everytime i plug it into the computer, it says it's in 'disc mode' and ok to disconnect or not okay to disconnect. and after that screen goes away, it won't charge!! pretty annoying, so i would be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to ANYONE that could HELP ME!! ok thanks!

Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to the computer. See if it gets out of Disk Mode...

While the orange light blinks it'll NEVER turn
green UNLESS whatever is causing the light to blink
(access by iTunes, used as data storage drive, ...)

hardware", it might display a solid orange...
