IPod died trying to fix purchased music sync issue.

I've tried everything except to do a restore of my OS to sync my click wheel Ipod to my purchased music. I have this problem since Itunes 5.0 was released. It was working fine since then. The last thing I did did was to update my Itunes to 6.0.1 and install the latest IPod updater (10-12). Well, after I tried to install the updater and every previous updater after that (for the fifth time). My Quicksilver G4 froze. I restarted and disconnected my Ipod. Now my IPod is unresponsive. No display. It won't charge and I can not reset. It is just dead. Anything I can do besides sending it for repair for $249? Thanks for any help.

No. Once you download the music, it is yours and you are responsible for backing it up.
You did not maintain a back up of your music?
From Itunes Store terms of service:
" PRODUCTS CAN ONLY BE DOWNLOADED ONCE; AFTER BEING DOWNLOADED, THEY CANNOT BE REPLACED IF LOST FOR ANY REASON. YOU SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP YOUR OWN SYSTEM, INCLUDING ANY PRODUCTS PURCHASED OR RENTED FROM THE ITUNES STORE THAT ARE STORED IN YOUR SYSTEM."

Why is music purchased on iPhone 5 not appearing in Recently Added Playlists until I sync with PC? These songs used to show up right away on the phone in my Recently Added Smart Playlists. Please help!

Has anyone else even noticed this or is it going over-looked?  I challenge itunes music purchasers to try and see.

    If not, what to do?

    Hello Nahuali
The music will be there once you sign in with your Apple ID that used for purchases. Check out the article below to know the steps on how to make that happen.

  • I just erased all my contacts on accident while trying to fix an ical syncing problem.  Please help!

    Hello There,
I have NO idea what just happened.  I am trying to stay calm here.  Please help.
I have been trying to fix the fact that my iphone calendar isn't sending info to my ical on my MacBook Pro.  I followed some instructions I found in a forum and then unplugged my phone haphazardly by not ejecting it from iTunes... I just pulled it off the cord and all my contacts erased in a blink of an eye.  Here's the instructions I followed.  Please tell me how I can get them back!  Can I call AT&T? BTW... the instructions didn't fix the ical problem either.
(These are the instructions I tried from http://iphonewriter.blogspot.com/2008/05/how-to-fixing-ical-iphone-sync-issues.h tml) I added my own sidenote in Bold.
Here's the down and dirty fix:
Open iCal and backup or export your entries. Make a note of the fie name and location, you're going to need them in a minute. Once your backup/export is completed, close the iCal application.
Open Finder and remove everything inside the "Username/Library/Calendars" folder. For instance, if your username is "Joe", then move everything inside the "Joe/Library/Calendars" folder.
Open the iSync application. It's located in the "/Applications/" folder. Once iSync is opened, go into the iSync Preferences (iSync -> Preferences) and push/click the "Reset Sync History" button. Then, close the iSync application.
Re-Open the iCal application and Import (File -> Import) a new calendar. When prompted, use your notes from Step #1 to select the file your created earlier. Once completed, close the iCal application (you should have all of your calendar entries back.)
***When I re-opened ical nothing was gone but I followed the following steps anyways.***
         5.  Open the iTunes application and connect your Apple iPhone to the computer.
         6.  Within the Advanced section of the Info tab for the Apple iPhone, check the box the overwrites/replaces the Calendar data on the Apple iPhone.
         7.  Click the Apple/Sync button. New, modified and deleted entries should now be syncing correctly.
That's it! You should be all set and iTunes, iCal and our Apple iPhone should all be playing nicely as friends again. We've used the exact method to repair our own Apple iPhone at least once... maybe even twice.

    Hi,
Can't you restore your iPhone via iTunes and use the "restore from last backup". I know when I has my phone replaced this copied all my contacts (from my last sync)back to my phone.
    Hope that helps

  • HT201272 I am trying to redownload purchased music after a hard drive dilemma.  When I click purchased I get an error message.  Any insight?

I am trying to redownload purchased music after a hard drive dilemma.  When I click on the 'purchased' category in the iTunes store I get an error message.  Any insight?

Does it include "unable to download "ITEM" at this time. Please try again"? I think there is an issue with redownloading your purchases using the "purchased list" option. I suggest you contact the support team for a history regrant (your purchases will be reposted to your account", which i think is a one time exception and would only include the items which are still available in the store.

  • Hi, I have just got an ipod touch, I had an ipod classic for years, I have tried to put my itunes onto my ipod touch but only my purchased music is going onto it, how do I get my library onto it without using sharing?

Hi I have just got an ipod touch, I have had a classic for years with no trouble.  I have tried to download my itunes library to my touch but only my purchased music transfers.  How do I transfer all my music without the home sharing as this at the moment seems to be the only way to see all of my library?

You can set up more than one device on your computer, and iTunes will remember the settings for each of them:
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer
But you'll have to use your Apple ID to sync bought media to her device. Disable all other things you don't want to sync like photos, contacts, etc.

  • 1st gen iPod purchased music syncing?

Is that new feature only an option on the new iPod?
I have a 1st gen iPod that has been tied to my machine at home. I have a machine at work with the same iTunes login. I bought a bunch of music at work and some at home. Am I reading this right that I should now be able to put my purchased music on my iPod regardless of the machine it was purchased on? (as long as the computer is logged in as the same)
I have not updated iTunes at home, only at work. At work, I plug in my iPod and tell it, under the music tab, to sync selected playlists and check the "purchased" box. Hit apply, it unchecks it. OR... Right click on the iPod and tell it to "transfer purchases." Nothing. No response.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dual 2.7 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1st gen 5 gig iPod - Still goin' strong!

I've now updated iTunes at home and it still doesn't want to sync here at work. Any thoughts? comments? suggestions?

  • Computer died - iPod died - can I get my music back?

Recently my hard drive died. I had not backed up all my purchased iTunes songs because I thought (with the proper 3rd party software) that the iPod would serve as a backup. Well, my iPod died around the same time my computer died.
iTunes knows what I've purchased; I logged into my girlfriend's iTunes and tried to purchase an album again, and it said I'd already purchased it (which I had on my dead computer before it died.) Since iTunes knows which songs I've bought, and since my computer and iPod died, will they let me redownload them without recharging me? They clearly have the song purchases on record. Any hope?

The policy on lost songs is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you may be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download however they are not under any obligation to do so.
if you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

  • Purchased Music Sync?? Please help!!

My laptop crashed and all hardware and software had to be re-installed.
The hard drive had been b acked up so I transferred iMusic to the fixed laptop.
However, it won't let me sync Purchased music with my iPod.
    Please help!!

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings.. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • IPod no longer plays my purchase music???

    Hi everyone,
I've recently moved my music collection to a different computer and everything seems fine except purchased songs etc won't play on my iPod. They transfer over fine but when it goes to play anything purchased it skips to the next track. I've tried all that the apple site recommends however it's final option is no good to me, it said to restore my collection from a recent backup when that is exactly what got me into this mess.
I don't know what to do next, updating and restoring my ipod seems to do nothing.
    Any ideas anyone?
Alienware   Windows XP   wish it were a Mac...

Just as a matter of interest, do you let the iPod go into "deep sleep" (where you don't use it for more than 36 hours)? There seems to be some indication that this causes purchased music not to play.
    There's one other thing.
Enable the iPod for disk use. See How to enable disk use.
Go to "my computer" and from the tools menu/folder options/view tab, enable "show hidden files and folders" in the advanced settings pane. Open the iPod in "my computer". Look for a file called "iEKinfo". Is it there? If so, make a copy of this file and save it somewhere easy to find (the desktop for instance). Do this also with the "iTunes DB" file. Don't worry if you can't see these files.
Create a new administrator account. Log out of the current account and log in to the new one. Then restore the iPod to factory settings.
Open iTunes, connect the iPod and set the transfer preferences to manual transfer. Then download the free single of the week from the iTunes Music Store. Verify that song plays in iTunes.
Now, drag this song only to the iPod, and eject the iPod from iTunes and disconnect it from the computer.
Does the song play on the iPod ok? If so, log out of the new user account and log back in to your normal one (the one you have issues with) and reconnect the iPod to the computer. Keep manual transfer selected for the moment. Drag some of the older purchased music (the ones that wouldn't play before) to the iPod.
Eject the iPod and disconnect it. Do those songs now play ok?
If not, first try this step.
Delete the SC Info.sidb file. Open iTunes again.
Now transfer some of the affected music to the iPod again. Does it play ok?
    If not, do this.
    Recreate your iTunes library.
Now, would you please send some info about this issue to [email protected]
    Include the following info.
Did any of the steps resolve your issue, if so which one?
Which model iPod are you using?
What computer OS are you using?
Was the iEKinfo file present on the iPod at the start of troubleshooting?
If not, was it there after any of the above steps, if so, which one?
Include your account name (not your password) you use for the iTunes Music Store.

  • Moving from iPod Color to iPod Touch: what happens re: purchased music

I am upgrading from my iPod 60GB Color (Photo) to an iPod Touch. Question: in addition to my thousands of songs from my own CDs, I also have purchased quite a few songs/albums from the iTunes Store. When I sync my library to the Touch, will EVERYTHING be brought over? I was wondering if my library, including purchased music, is tied to one iPod or can it be copied to another unit without any problem. Thanks.

When I sync my library to the Touch, will EVERYTHING be brought over?
Yes, up to the limit of music the iPod touch can hold.
I was wondering if my library, including purchased music, is tied to one iPod or can it be copied to another unit without any problem.
The iTunes library is not tied to an iPod; each iPod is tied to a specific iTunes library, and by default, will only contain content from that specific iTunes library. An iPod shuffle cannot contain content from multiple iTunes libraries as playable songs.

  • Ipod mini won't play purchased music after not plugged in

iPod mini, Windows XP system (sorry).
If iPod is plugged into the computer at least once every couple of days, everything's fine.
But if the iPod is left unplugged for more than 3 days, it skips over all the purchased music.
Copied music works fine. Just the purchased music.
Just updated to latest ipod software, no joy.
This has got to be an ipod software bug -- or perhaps a really dumb "misfeature". Has anyone else seen this?
      Windows XP

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

Specific songs from the iTunes Music Store don't play
Try deauthorizing and reauthorizing your computer. Repeat the deauthorization and reauthorization process for any other iTunes Music Store accounts for which your computer is authorized.
1.Double-click one of your affected iTunes Music Store songs.
2.Enter your account name and password in the resulting dialog.
    3.Click OK.
After you've deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, open iTunes, select your iPod, and choose Update iPod from the File menu. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring your iPod.
After you've restored your iPod, open iTunes, select your iPod, and choose Update iPod from the File menu. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try recreating your iTunes library.
After you've recreated your iTunes library, open iTunes, select your iPod, and choose Update iPod from the File menu.
