IPod discharged battery help

Hello, I lent my iPod video 60GB to a friend for a month, and when he returned it the battery was completely shot. I'm guessing he didn't charge it well enough.
Well, I tried hooking it with a USB and I see a half dead battery sign, which the Apple support cleary mentions as a discharged battery. It said to leave it there (almost until half an hour) and the battery should be charged enough to turn on. I've done that, left it for an hour, and nothing happens. All I get is a black screen with the Apple sign, a few churning noises, then stops, and resets back to the screen and over.
I would really appreciate any help, before I take it the Apple store. Thanks in advance.

I have had mine with a completly discharged battery take two to three hours before it even turned on. Give it a little more time and see.

  • Ipod mini battery help!

I have an Ipod mini and I will listen to about two songs and it will tell me that it is out of battery power. But I charge it every night until it say charged and sometimes I leave it over night plugged in. Do I need a new battery? Any help would be great.

I'm actually having a similar problem. I've had my iPod about 3 1/2 months now and lately it's been cutting off, telling me that there's no battery power, even if I've just charged it. I've reset it and it's worked for a minute and then does the same thing. I'll have to try resetting it 2 or 3 times and then the battery will kick back in. But it's been happening for a couple of weeks now. What's the deal? I've noticed it's been doing this since I updated with the 9/23 update.

  • Has anybody else had an iPod touch battery go into "deep discharge"? The only way to get it out of "deep discharge" is to connect to a Mac computer to charge it. Mine was only 6 months old when it happened, and cost $80 AUS to recharge. Rubbish batteries!

Has anybody else had an iPod touch battery go into "deep Discharge"? Mine did after 6 months use, Mains charger did not work, computer charger did not work, so took it for repair under warranty. I was then told about "deep discharge" , and it has to be connected to a Mac computer to recharge again. This cost me $80 AUS. It does not say much for iPod batteries, especially if you don't have a Mac to charge it if it happens again. In fact it sounds like a fundamental flaw in the product......

There are other repair companies for the touch/iPhone. Google them, you might find a lower price.

  • IPod Mini Battery Icon with Lightning--PLEASE HELP!!

When I turn off my iPod, the battery symbol shows up on the screen with the lightning bolt on the left of it--even though it's fully charged. When I leave like that for a period of time and come back to it--the screen is blank but the iPod won't turn on again until I plug it in and charge it again. I think that symbol showing up is running down the battery or something.
This all started when I plugged my iPod into a different computer and I guess it got "confused" and shut down and I couldn't get it to come back on. However, I plugged it into my car charger and reset and it seemed to work fine except the battery icon in the corner had that lightning bolt.
It works fine otherwise it just seems like I will have to have it constantly charging instead of letting it sleep?!
    Any advice?

  • My Ipod touch battery life depreciating, and it seems to coincide with my earphones no longer registering

    Hello,
I have had a few iPod's over the last couple of years, and well I am starting to get bored of exchanging/purchasing a new one because of what seems like a reoccuring problem. My iPod's battery is dying... it no longer lasts a day even without use (I have taken off extra apps-I just have what came with my iPod on my phone, my bluetooth is disabled). This has happened to me before, I had reset my iPod. Reuploaded it from my back up as well as return it to manufaturers defaults and sync'd it as a brand new iPod and this has not helped. (Initially I thought maybe I had a corrupted file on there).
I had taken my iPod into the Genius Bar, told me to do the manufaturers reset, even had an ipod exchanged. I was told that doing mini charges would 'teach' the battery that it was empty before it truly was. So I stopped using a car charger, I now use my iPod and let it die before I charge it once again, or at least have it below the 20% battery life before I will plug it in. And yet the problem still persists. I know I have time to take it in and have it looked over, but I'm tired of the same issue.
This issue seems to come along with an issue with my earphones. I use the Skullcandy 50/50 ear buds that have been working on my iPod for months now. And yesterday I had been listening to my iPod in the car using the AUX port, have my iPod volume all the way up and my speakers down. Typically when I take out the AUX port cord and replace them with my earphones the iPod would change the volume level to what I was listening to last with earphones. But now it isn't doing that, and the controls for the pause, volume, skip/rewind no longer work.
The Apple staff have been very kind to me, but as a customer I am getting tired of having to deal with this. I am just at my wits ends as this would be my 3rd iPod... so I think that it's me causing this but what could I possibly be doing to create this?

    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If defective and not abused Apple will experience it with a refurbished one since it should be within the one-year warranty.

  • IPod touch Battery Problems Since iOS 7 was installed last year.

Hello, I've had recurring battery problems with my iPod touch since the iOS 7 update was installed, and I find myself having to charge my iPod touch (5th Generation) a lot more frequently since I installed this update.
On iOS 6, I had never experienced any problems with the iPod touch's battery, as I was able to let the battery drain down completely, and let it charge for 4 hours (recommended). After the iPod touch was fully charged for 4 whole hours, I was able to unplug the lightning cable, and the iPod touch on its own would last a few days to at least a week or two weeks.
On iOS 7, since it saw its general release on the 18th September last year, I have found that the iPod's battery has drained so bad, that it dies too quickly, and when I put the iPod touch on charge, in almost an hour, the iPod touch tells me that it is 100% charged. However, when I take the iPod touch off its charge after it fully charges for that hour, it quickly drains down again.
I have gone through the standard procedure of restoring my iPod touch to its factory settings, and I have seen absolutely no improvement on the battery life whatsoever. I mainly back up whatever is on my iPod touch (I back up pictures, videos and also transfer updates that I have installed for certain apps onto iTunes), though I have seen how some people have backed up the data on their iPod's or iPhones, only they find their iDevice draining so quickly.
Even turning off certain features in the Settings app to improve the battery life doesn't help, as there is almost no difference that solves the problems I'm currently having with the iPod touch's battery.
I recently heard about the free iPhone battery replacement program which is now available, so I'm starting to worry whether I have to pay for a new replacement battery for my iPod touch.
Your help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated.
    Many kind regards,
    Alex Smithson

I mainly charge the iPod touch itself for four hours and it still doesn't make a difference. I've had my iPod touch for almost 2 years and since I installed iOS 7, it still doesn't make a difference.
I was wondering, if the article you have provided doesn't sort the problems with the battery out, is there another alternative??
Your help and advice is most appreciated.
    Many kind regards,

  • Ipod mini troubles: Help Needed

I really need help with ipod mini troubleshooting..
I've had my Ipod mini for about 3 years now and lately have been running into a few problems.
    In the past few months:
-My Ipod's "battery meter" has been acting really strange, one second it may be reading as 3/4 full, and the next it shuts down saying that my battery has depleted, then a few minutes later it will be reading full again. And just to let you know, I always charge it overnight to avoid having a dead battery, and I always make sure to properly shut it off using "hold".
Resetting my ipod works sometimes, but other times doesn't..
    Yesterday:
My Ipod is no longer responding at all, and I'm pretty sure I know why: Some careless person spilled some water near and on my ipod, I dried it off as soon as I could. It was working properly shortly afterwards, but a few hours later, it shut off saying that the battery was dead again, and a picture of a "cartoon ipod" with dead eyes("XX") appeared on my screen, and it said under the picture to go to "www.apple/support/ipod". This was when it wasn't connected to a power source. When I connected my ipod to my computer via USB, my itunes does not recognize that it is connected ("Do not disconnect" does not appear on my ipod) and a picture of a "dead battery" has appeared on my screen, it is not in the "recharging mode" either (with the picture of the battery moving).
I tried re-setting it numourous times, and always end up with either the "dead battery" picture, or the "dead cartoon ipod" picture on it.
Help would be greatly appreciated, as I use my ipod everyday for school and leisure.
    Thanks.

I've tried that several times without luck.

  • Ipod Mini Battery Drain

My Ipod Mini battery drains down without any use. Is this normal. My HP Ipaq 4155 battery does not drain down without any usage. Can anyone help me please. Thanks, Jeff

Well just an advice. Be sure that the alarm of your iPod is not set.

  • After a year of no use and a fully discharged battery, my MacBook Pro refuses to accept the administrator name and the password. How can I reset these?

After a year of no use and a resulting fully discharged battery, the MacBook Pro refuses to recognize the administrator name and password (both). It has system OS X 10.6 which can not be upgraded without the information. How can I reset or reistall the administrator name and password?

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.
    Thanks for your comments.

  • Ipod reset itself,      help!

My ipod has been acting up recently. First it froze and wouldn't allow me to change screens so I just let it sit hoping it would fix itself (the ipod was at full charge when this happened). The next time I tried to use my ipod, the battery was completely empty, but I had used it since it froze. So I charged up my ipod and hoped that I would soon be able to enjoy my music. Much to my disappointment, when I turned on my ipod, I was presented with a language select screen. I selected English and then I came to the usual main screen. However, all my music, pictures, and videos were gone. I don't know how or why this happened. Can osmeone please help? I haven't touched my ipod since. I don't want to resync and have this happen again, so what do I do from here?

Clicking Restore before you sync should return the iPod to the condition it was in when you first got it, eliminating any bugs etc. that might have occurred since then. If it still doesn't work afterwards, you should contact Apple as there may be a problem with the internal components.

  • IPod touch battery and new ipod touch repairing decision

    Hi,
I have an iPod touch 4th generation(8gb)that I have had for about 2 years. A few months ago I noticed something wrong with it. Whenever I kept the battery fully charged it decided to shut off by it's self even when it acted fully charged. Now I'm trying to decided if I can actually get a professional to repair the battery for it or if it's best to get a new iPod touch. Otherwise I don't know what else I can do. My warranty expired so I'm thinking getting a new battery will not be free either way. I don't think there's water damage unless if there is I don't know where to look on the iPod. Need help to figure out what I should do about the battery because the buttons and screen is fine I think it's just the battery that is the problem. Although I did hear about the next ios7 or something, but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with this. I've asked a worker in an iPhone repair shop place about this problem and they agreed it has to do with the battery. No matter how many times I have kept it charged fully or started charging it won't stay on unless it stays charging.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. If onoly a battery than battery replacement is an option. Apple might tell yo what is wrong so you can them make an informed decision.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. If only the battery  is bad then the exchange price is $79. They do not fix yours.

  • Why after update to 6.1.2 so quickly discharged battery?

After upgrading to version 6.1.2 was discharged battery faster than normal. and the problem is not udnogo me to the famous Russian portal 4pda too many have the same problem just after updating to version 6.1.2. Do you plan to fix this bug?

    There's no bug.
Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • Mini battery help

I know the mini's battery only lasts so long, but how do you tell once it is wearing out for good? Part 2 of my question, in order to receive a working one from my warranty how far along does the Ipod's battery have to be until its dead? Thx plz help JG43

    Jordan,
There are several things to do:
    reset, several times
    update the firmware
calibrate the battery and the battery meter
If the battery play time is less than half of the spec'd time, and the iPod is under warranty, Apple will replace the battery free. If your iPod is not under warranty, Apple will charge you $60.

  • Resuming from Flat (fully discharged) Battery

    Hi,
I have this perturbing issue and suspect it may be software but don't know how to fix it.
I leave my PB switched on overnight to discharge, battery depletes completely and PB obviously goes into that saved state (can't remember exact name but you get the pic).
When I resume the next morning, the "Resume" progress bar shows (fine..), and I am brought to the username/password entry screen.
And here's where my trouble begins- I am unable to interact with the keyboard, no input from trackpad, pressing FN key does nothing, mouse (Apple BT) blinks but I get absolutely no response from the screen.
I leave it for 10 minutes, hoping that some input will return but nothing. And at this point I will have to force a shutdown by pressing the Power button for couple seconds.
This only happens in the "save to disk/resume" state when battery is fully depleted, normal resumption from screensaver mode or other standby modes are okay.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I would really appreciate some advise as it is really beginning to worry me why I have to force a shut down after calibrating my PB battery. Is there some setting I could check in System Preferences-Energy Saver, for example, that may allow me to recover from the "save to disk" mode so that I can resume username & password entry?
At this moment, it is always the case of no trackpad response, no keyboard response, no mouse respose. Only a forced shutdown (hold Power button for 3 seconds) is my only option now and I think something's wrong.
    Please help.
