IPod disconnected error message

So I have been receiving this error message whenever I try to sync my iPod. I have attempted using different cords (legit Apple cords), different USB ports, rebooting my computer, and others that I cannot recall at the moment. It appears as though the synch starts normal enough, but after running for a minute or so the error message pops up. Although it looks like items are still syncing, this error message is rather disturbing to see every time I sync!
I'm also using IOS 8.0.2 not what is listed below.

This is a standard message when you connect the IPOD to the computer;
When you’re connected you should use your computer to interface your IPOD;
The Do Not Disconnect error message means you should not physically disconnect your IPOD until it been Ejected through ITunes or in my case by using Windows and going to My computer and right clicking on the IPOD drive and then Ejecting it.
The sign Do Not Disconnect error message is normal.
Go back and read your installation material.

IPod Nano Error Message (-48)

I've just got my NEW iPod Nano (Red 4GB) out of the box and when I connected it to iTunes I keep getting the Error Message "Unable to update iPod Bob Error Message (-48)."
Despite the (-48) Error Message the iPod does seemingly update Songs/Photos etc.
I have got a 60GB Video iPod and a new Black iPod Nano (8GB) and have no problems with either of them.
Does anyone know what Error (-48) is????

I have just got back from the Regent Street Apple Store - the trip took 5 hours (I live way outside of London) and cost £35 in fares (thanks Apple!)
I met with a guy from the iPod Genius Bar - and there is indeed a "problem" with Error (-48) which Apple are fully aware of. I took my iPod Nano (4GB Red) which DOES have this problem and my iPod Nano (8GB Black) which does not PLUS my iBook so the guys at Apple could see for themselves the problem I am having.
It seems they are aware of the problem - but could offer NO solution at this time and Apple are definaitely working it! They took data dumps of my iTunes / Mac Configuration etc. and details of both Black and Red iPods (serial numbers etc.)
They were very helpful - and advised me to keep the Red 4GB and sit tight until the Update/Patch to solve the problem is available from Apple.
I was one of MANY turning up at the Genius Bar that day with the SAME problem!
So - there are no quick / sure solutions to this one - I guess we have to wait for Apple to release the fix.

I have a couple of articles that should be able to help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes first. This has to be done in a specific manner, and this article can help you do that:

Getting "line disconnected" error message when trying to monitor

Getting "line disconnected" error message when trying to monitor "live stream" on cameras from computer. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix? I have reconfigured each camera with the router but still having the error message. I have a total of three cameras....(1) is wired and (2) are wifi......I am getting this message with all cameras (both wired/wifi).

Is this an intermittent error that you get now and then, or were you able to successfully setup your cameras, then one day you got the "line disconnected" on all cameras since that point and on?
If this is an intermittent problem, I can share that I experienced the same thing the first two days of having setup my cameras. It seemed that my Gateway was communicating with the Verizon servers pretty heavily as I was getting my HMC first setup. However, starting on day three and on, it has worked very well.
The only odd thing I'm experiencing now is that I getting several "camera_detected" messages in the activity logs. All my cameras show up in the My Devices list, and I can view them either as a snapshot or as live streaming, however, the log makes it seem that there is a mystery camera connected somewhere that I don't know about. I have a call in to Verizon regarding this and hopefully will get an answer in the next couple of days. It's not hurting anything, just kind of annoying to sort through those entries as you're going through your Activity Log.

"Error 42023" through "Error 42408"
These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.
Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
Remove the SC Info folder.
If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.

Ipod manager error message

I've plugged my ipod mini in to my pc and am getting an error message on the pc saying "ipod manager internal software error". The ipod doesn't register with itunes and the "do not disconnect" message is not going away...can anyone advise what I need to do to fix this?

In addition to what StarDeb55 said, if you've got a relatively "mild" case of this error message, try simply resetting your iPod while it is connected to your computer (close iTunes and My Computer while you do this), and see if that does anything.
To reset an iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times.
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
Then, after you have reset the iPod, let it go, and let the syncing in iTunes fully complete before attempting to eject or disconnect your iPod.
Also, if that doesn't work, you might want to switch off your antivirus software and firewall, in case that is trying to access your iPod.

I was just wondering... what seem to be the common causes of this error, and what seems to fix it?
I, for one, have only been able to get this error message with Natalie by doing some sort of combination of: connecting/disconnecting, attempting to eject the iPod through "My Computer" while syncing, connecting another iPod during the sync, stopping syncing while in the middle of its progress in iTunes, resetting iPod while connected, trying access it in Windows Explorer right when the sync ended, etc. (I'm not quite sure which one disturbed iTunes)
When I got that error message that I was wanting, ejecting the iPod through "Safely Remove" or My Computer didn't work (when I attempted that, I got a "try ejecting this device later" message). Finally, resetting the iPod while connected, as I described above, fixed the issue.
Still, Deggie once said that Norton is what caused him/her's "files in use..." error message, which is interesting.
I'm just curious as to what causes/solutions you've seen for this error.

Disconnect error message!

After my 80 gb iPod has completed its sync with iTunes, and the battery is charged up, it continues to show the "do not disconnect" symbol. But if I click the "eject" symbol in iTunes, I get the error message "Your iPod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
I can't imagine what other application this error message is talking about! I've not synced with a photo app, Windows address book, or anything else at this point. Has anyone run into this? Help is much appreciated!

I just purchased an 80gb iPod but since I'm stuck with Windows ME at the moment, I can't download iTunes (forced to use alternative for now). I plugged iPod in a few hours ago and it's showing "Do not disconnect" message. Since I don't have iTunes, I can't eject it that way, but ejected it in system tray and was told it was okay to eject but iPod screen still showing "Do not disconnect" message. I have reset it twice and after briefly going to Apple screen, it returned to same *&%# error message. Any suggestions?

Hi All,
Hope someone can help as this is driving me insane - I've just installed iTunes 9.2.1 but when I went to Sync my iPod I was told I needed to restore it.
Sooo....selected Restore but just as it gets to the end of the Restore process I get an error message (21). Having reviewed the info on this website I've tried everything from switching off Windows Firewall to uninstalling my security software.

IPod Nano error message when syncing to iTunes to update Nike+

I am using an 8 gb iPod nano multi touch with Nike+ and when I connect it to iTunes to update Nike+ to sync my runs it continuously says "The Nike+ website is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." This has been occuring since Nike updated their website. I have updated iTunes and still the error messages occurs. Anyone else have this issue if so is there a solution?

Im having problems with my ipod nano it keeps giving me the error "The ipod cannot be synched.The required folder cannot be found" Also gives me "some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to the ipod because one or more errors occurred"
Ive tried reseting the ipod on and off the usb cord,also tried restoring the factory settings with no joy, tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling with no joy. It starts synching gets so many songs then gives me the error messages and when i check the ipod no songs are on it! Cannot update iPod 5G, error message appears.

When I try to update my 30GB iPod, it always displays an error message saying, "The iPod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (1417)."
