Ipod displaying sad icon (tried the Guide, doesn't work)

Can someone help me?
I was using my Ipod Video 30gb and it froze, so I reset it and it showed a sad Ipod icon with a "!" beside it.
After I went to the guide and tried to restore it but when I plug it in (to my windows XP laptop) it is not shown in itunes, my computer, Ipod updater or anything:(
I've tried to put it into disk mode, but that doesn't work either! I think I need to restore it but it won't show up.

i'm having the same problem. there are a couple other things u can try, which didn't work for me but worked for other people, maybe you too. one thing that seems to work A LOT is to drop it flat onto a hard surface, say onto the desk from 6 inches -- or to give it a smack on the side, not TOO hard but enough to let it know you mean business. It often just starts right up. If that doesn't work you can open it up and disconnect the hard drive for 5-10 minutes -- there is also a manual reset button on the hard drive on some models (not mine, maybe yours). I was using an app on my 32 gb Ipod touch that I just got in Janurary 2012. The ipod then displayed a bunch of white lines and shut off. I hooked the ipod to itunes and it did not recognize it. I then tried to hold in the power and home buttons in with it connected to the computer and without it connected to the computer. After being disapointed I went on the web to see if I could find the answer. The ipod then randomly turned on. My next plan was to restore the itouch, as some said that this was needed to fix it. I first wanted to save my data on some apps so i did not lose them. This was a seperate app than before, so I know it had nothing to do with the particular app. Well anyway, while doing this, the ipod did the same exact thing, but now I cannot get it to work again. If I can get it to work I plan on restoring it right away, but I am starting to think it is a hardware issue. Any ideas?

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

Sometimes my screen starts to move on my iMac. It's like it's trying to turn the page and it gets off center and the mouse doesn't work when it happens. It usually lasts about 15 seconds or so and happens often.

Sometimes the screen on my imac starts to shake like it it trying to "go to the next page". When this happens it usually freezes up for 15 seconds or so and the mouse doesn't work.

Have you tried a hard reset of the iPod to see if that helps? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, work through each of the troubleshooting suggestions in this Apple support document as necessary.

My ipod touch 3G the bottom doesn't work. How do i fix it?

Everything on the top works. From the bottom, its slowly moving up. now i'm not able to slide to unlock it.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Every app on my ipod (2nd gen) which requires wifi connection doesn't work although the wifi mark is on. i did try restarting my ipod, resetting network setting, disconnect from wifi and reconnected it but non of them worked.

This may sound silly but try your date a time setting my ipod had the same problem and i had even checked the the date and time went all the way to the apple store for help and the genius guy just rest the date and time and it worked just fine.

How long did you press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together? Have you tried doing this procedure more than once? Is the hold switch in the Off position?
If nothing else, let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up again.

Make sure the silent switch is not set to mute. If you can see the red dot, it is on mute.
It may think you have headphones plugged in, try plugging and unplugging a wired headset a few time.
The next step would be to restore as new.
If none of that works, a warranty exchange would be the resolution.

The wheel of my mouses (i tried with two) doesn't work on Firefox versions after 3.6

It started when i installed Firefox 4. The center wheel of the mouse doesn't work (can click but not shift the webpages). Now i have the 6th version of Firefox and the problem continues. I tried with another mouse (one that i tested with another computer and i know that works) but nothing.
I unninstalled Firefox, restarted the pc, clean the registry with ccleaner and installed it again (a clean installation, not an update like the other times), but nothing again.
Today my brother show me that login in windows with his account (instead of using mine) this problem that not happen, is only in mine (we have both admin accounts).
My OS is Windows 7 64 bits.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

My iPod 5th gen connects to wifi but the internet doesn't work.

So we were watching netflix on the ps4 and something happened and now my ipod will connect to the wifi but the internet doesn't work. everything else connects just fine to the internet just not my ipod. I've renew my lease, reset my settings and network, forgot my network and rejoined, turn my ipod completely off and back on, turned my wifi off then back open. The IP address is 192.xxx.x.xx

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
