IPod dock extension cord

A product accessory that I would to see: An iPod dock extension cord that consists of a female and male on either end.
The reason for this, is I have the Speck Tough Skin case. I can not fit my ipod 60 with the case on into the dock of the iHome (H5). If I want to get the full capabilities of the H5 I have to take my iPod out of my case. Since the case is rubber and it not easy to remove or replace my iPod into that case. As of now if I want to use the H5 fully and have my iPod in a case I have to purchase a brand new case. I am sure other customers have similar issues as well and could benefit from this accessory.

I'm in a similar boat with my iPod Shawn. I love the Agent 18 case and don't want to remove it from the case to put it into any docking accessories that would work fine with the case removed. Not sure this would help with your iHome, but I notice that Apple is now providing dock inserts to handle the footprint and size differences of each of the iPods. Couldn't someone just make a dock insert that would allow a full size iPod with a case on it (assuming the case has an opening at the bottom to access the dock)? Haven't seen anything like this, but seems like it would be a useful product since a lot of us keep our iPods in cases...

IPod USB adapter & PowerBook AC extension cord

I just bought an iPod USB adapter and see that it has the same sort of removeable "duck head" AC plug as the power adapter for my G4 PowerBook. Does this mean that I can use the PowerBook's 3-prong "extension" cord with the iPod adapter?
2GHz G5 iMac 20-in. Mac OS X (10.4.4) 1.5 GHz G4 PowerBook 15-in.

Idea: Does anyone know if there is a dock extension cable for an iPod?
... Lots of people with the new video ipods have cases like Toughskin ... We don't want to take them off all the time ... if there was a 5 to 10 inch cable that could connect from the ipod dock port to ipod accessories (docks, speaker systems) it would be huge ... I have done a lot of research and found no such cable.

I want to second this issue ... I have the toughskin, 5G, and iHome and I think many new 5G Ipod owners are going to struggle with this until someone out there makes a dock extension cable. I actually wrote to a bunch of the accessory companies suggesting it and explaining the growing need.
I guess if we email them enough they might get it ... I know they'd sell a lot of them.

Ipod nano updated with latest software will not play or charge on ipod dock

My ipod nano generation 4 is updated with the latest software version 1.0.4
It was playing and charging fine on my ipod docking station until the update.
Now however the ipod is unresponsive on the dock. neither charging or playing. I have tried it charging on the cord and playing on my headphones no issues.
any thoughts?

USB extension cord not recognizing keyboard

I bought a USB extension cord to connect my keyboard to my iMac. I plug it in and nothing. I test it on a ipod and no problem. Where am I not understanding?

How long is the USB extension cable?
Since you noticed this problem, have you shut down (powered off completely) your iMac, and then restarted?
I assume you tried connecting the keyboard directly to the iMac's port AFTER noting that the USB extension cable connection is not working. And it worked when connected directly AFTER trying it with the extension cable.

Can I use iphone earbuds with a mac pro tower? And with an extension cord?

I also need to use an extension cable because of my standing desk (tower is on the floor). I get confused with the 2-band jack, the 3-band jack, etc. I haven't been successful using a regular, radio shack type of headphone extension cord. Salesmen give me a blank stare when I try to explain that I have iphone earbuds with a 3-band jack and that it doesn't work with a regular extension cord. It's like I'm speaking Swahili.

You can't using 4-band iPhone earphone with Mac Pro.
You need to get 3-band earphone and extension cable.
I've been using iPod shuffle's earphone with extension cable osn it works well.

Apple iPod Dock Connector to USB 2.0
My friend lost the USB cord that came with his iPod Mini. This cord looks exactly the same as the USB 2.0 cord that came with my iPod Mini (at least in the picture). Is it the same cord? (Thus, can he buy this to replace his lost one?)

The short of it is, the guy from the second link says he'll make you one, the first link says "coming soon" (though I think it's been "coming soon" for at least 6 months now), and the playlistmag thread is just good reading on the subject with various links, including the first two I gave here.

S-video output does not work with iOS5.1.1 via ipod dock

After upgradig my Touch to iOS5.1.1 I cannot see video etc. on my TV via my Ipod Dock.
It was working fine before the upgrade.
The ipod is telling me, that it's connected to the TV, but nothings appears on my TV.

I have tried to contact Apple Support but I have not succeded finding out how to contact them about the bug.
Anyone else experience same problem?

I have the same issue with my iHome iW1 AirPlay. After updating both my iPhone 3gs and ipad 3, it cannot use my iW1 with airplay. Also when I plug one of my iOs device to the iW1 I get the infamous "Charging is not supported with this accesory"....
Anyone got a workaround?

My iPod touch 3rd generation won't play on my iPod dock when the alarm I set goes off. It plays normally and charges, but it won't work with the alarm. Could it be the iPod dock or my iPod?

My iPod touch just recently started doing this: I plug it in to my Sony iPod dock/alarm clock/radio. It charges fine and plays music fine, but when I set the alarm for it to go off, it doesn't go off. I can see that the dock is indicating that the alarm is going off, but the iPod isn't playing music. Could it be my iPod or the dock?
Also, there were 2 times when I plugged in my iPod to charge (once with a wall charger and once with the dock) and it said that it was fully charged. But it wasn't fully charged. I bought one of those iPod wall chargers from Target. It's not an Apple charger, but it is for iPods. Could it be that?
I'm going to try to reset my iPod and see if that helps any.

I have contacted apple support and Bose support. When I have heard back will post for everyone. I do encourage everyone to contact both companies until we get an answer to hopefully solve this issue. The more people who contact them about the issue, maybe the better chance they will help fix the issue.

ITunes 7.1 and iPod dock problems

Apparently there are cases of iTunes 7.1 doing some widespread and different things, not all entirely related. In many cases the problems can be fixed if you disconnect your iPod dock, if you have one. I had my Shuffle dock (and iPod) plugged in and iTunes just wouldn't start. I was working wirelessly tonight and just thought I would try again and it opened really fast. Then I found several threads here about this sort of thing. So if you are having problems with this upgrade as I have try unplugging your iPod first then launch iTunes.

You have to restore back (or uninstall/resinstall) to a prior version of iTunes. 7.0.2 works fine.

3rg gen ipod dock connector not working with new imac on leopard 10.5.1

Recently found that my 3rd gen ipod is not working properly when i connect it using its dock. itunes just freezes and comes out with some "disk insertion error". however, when i don't use the dock and connect the ipod to the imac directly using its own firewire cable, everything is ok and working properly.
it seems to be the ipod dock that is the problem. but am wondering why wouldn't it work? any ideas? I'd still like to be able to use the ipod dock...

IPod (dock connector) stuck in disk mode

i just replaced the HD on my iPod(dock connector)and now it stuck on disk mode. i tried to reset but it showed a folder with an exclaimation point and went back to disk mode flashing the "do not" symbol and "do not disconnect". it don't show up on my PC or my iTunes. HELP!

That's super odd. It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Is there a way to hookup shuffle to standard iPod dock connector?

I just got a brand new shuffle, looks real sharp and easy to use, it's my first one since I sold my 1st gen iPod Touch years ago. At that time, I hooked up an adapter (using standard dock connector) to my car's stereo system, through the back of it (not through an option for the car's stereo). So I have a cable (standard iPod dock connector) in my car to hook up to an iPod; I had to control the songs from the iPod itself and usually just kept it on shuffle, and set the stereo to a certain mode for it to be played through the speakers. I wasn't aware until my shuffle came that the dock connector just uses the same 3.5mm jack as the headphones. Is there an adapter to use a standard dock connector for hooking the shuffle to the various iPod accessories (boom boxes/stereos) and therefore, my car's stereo?

Are you sure the three-way power switch is set to shuffle? The middle position is play-in-order, so the shuffle plays the list in the same playlist order (or alphabetical order if using the All Songs list).
If the power switch is in the shuffle position, to re-shuffle the list, move it to the middle position and them move it back to the shuffle position.
