IPOD DOCK QUESTION-please answer

This might sound stupid but I got a new ipod dock for Christmas and I've taken it "on and off" the charger a few times to take my ipod with me and then put it back on so I can wake up to it the next morning. Does that hurt the ipods battery or is that OK for it? (do you know what I mean)?

It's not hard to work out from the above links, but just for you:
Generally no. It doesn't hurt to keep removing and re-docking the ipod in a powered dock as the ipod used a lithium based battery that doesn't need to be completely drained to recharge every time. It is designed to be topped up as you see fit.
However it is recommended that you drain and charge from empty to 'condition' the battery every month or so that will help to prolong the life. More so if you don't use it for a while.

Routines are subroutines in which we can write our own code without disturbing the driver program.

Log data changes
The logging flag defines whether changes to the data records of a table should be logged. If logging is activated, every change (with UPDATE, DELETE) to an existing data record by a user or an application program is recorded in a log table in the database.
Note: Activating logging slows down accesses that change the table. First of all, a record must be written in the log table for each change. Secondly, many users access this log table in parallel. This could cause lock situations even though the users are working with different application tables.
Dependencies
Logging only takes place if parameter rec/client in the system profile is set correctly. Setting the flag on its own does not cause the table changes to be logged.
The existing logs can be displayed with Transaction Table history (SCU3).

Some songs can't be loaded on 2nd gen ipod shuffle (question with answer)

I'm getting the following message when trying to load some songs on to my 2nd gen iPod shuffle:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including 'Allegro', were not copied to the iPod "iPod" because they cannot be played on this iPod." When I click on the details triangle I get "Allegro" was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPod "iPod".
This is happening for many songs that were previously loaded on this iPod. The songs were all loaded into iTunes from CDs. I have tried the iPod reset utility, deleting all songs and reloading, selecting a single song to sync, no luck.
When I do a "Get Info" on these songs they say they were encoded with either iTunes 6.0.5 or iTunes 7.0.2.
OK. Even before I was able to post the question, I found the answer. If I select the songs and from the "Advanced" menu select "Create AAC version", the AAC version can be copied to the iPod. Get Info shows the encoding has changed so AAC and iTunes 9.0.1.
Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.

You can't "sync" that is automatically update an iPod from multiple libraries or computers. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.

Im thinking of buying a Lumia 1020, even though its ugly as he** and 0,5 inch too big. I wished it was in the same shell as my old 808 PureView which fit in ONE hand and no sharp corners which makes my hand bleed after sms´ing alot.... Whatta great phone that 808 PureView was btw! Also battery could be removed...
Here is my BIG question!
Can I have multiple Hotmail emails accounts active in my 1020 phone and does all accounts support IMAP so all personal folders and EVERYTHING are downloaded into my phone, not just the basic folders and first 25 or 50 mails? This worked on the N8 and my 808 for a couple of years and all folders were constantly synced in real time until Nokia did some secret change which only allowed 15min, 30 min sync and only basic folders were updated, not even read mails were indicated as read but as new until I read the min the phone too.
And Im NOT talking about ExchangeAutoSync now...which for some reason only can handle one account(!?)
There are smaller Lumias but sadly Nokia ofcoarse make everything else smaller too, like the camera which is the big reason I wanna buy the 1020...and for the WP system which give me access to things on the internet I could not acces with Belle.
I have no Ideas how the WP email gadget looks or work, so can someone please explain and or show me? Im totally new to the WP, is there something the Belle had which WP dont have? Any other big differences between the 808 PureView and the 1020?

You can create more Hotmail accounts yes, how many mails are available on the phone (from how far back) depends on settings and not on mail count. You can access any folder in the Hotmail/Outlook.com/Live account.

IPod dock question

I've just bought an Accurian dock for my ipod 30GB. It has a remote, AV outputs, etc. The instructions for disconnecting read:
Warning! Do not remove the ipod from your universal docking station while synchronizing files. You must disconnect your ipod from the computer before disconnecting from your universal dock.
DISCONNECTING PC CONNECTIONS:
1. Double click the Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task bar. The "Unplug or Eject Hardware" screen displays.
2. Select the universal dock and click "Stop". Then click "OK". When "The USB Mass Storage Device can now be safely removed from the system" appears, click "OK".
Are those instructions just for disconnecting the cable/dock from my computer, or do I have to do that everytime I disconnect my ipod from the dock?:(

This is a standard warning (PC and Mac with different wording) any time your computer can see the iPod.
If you have a dock that isn't conencted to a computer, but is just for charging or playing music, there is probably no problem. The warning is relating to when your iPod is mounted by the computer as a hard drive -- disconnecting it improperly can lead to data corruption.

Multiple iPod User Question, PLEASE HELP!

I already own a 30GB iPod Video which is updated to 1.1 on my Mac. I purchased a 30GB iPod Video for my wife for Valentine's Day. It will need to be formatted. What do I have to do to get her new iPod updated to 1.1. Also, do I need to update it to 1.0 first before updating to 1.1, how does this work??? If it updates to 1.1 from the start am I losing precious update info from 1.0 or will that be on the 1.1 update as well? Please help!

All 5th Gen iPods come with at least the 1.0 firmware. There is nothing earlier, you you won't br "missing out" on anything.
To update the new iPod from 1.0 to 1.1, just run the latest iPod Updater utility on your Mac. It should be in your Applications > Utilities folder.

I noticed this, when ever I play a album on my 80GB iPod classic when it's done it goes back to the track list. Does this happen to anyone else?

I started to charge it in my sister's laptop then noticed in the book that it said do not charge in a keyboard usb slot, so i freaked..pulled it out and charged it on my own computer, and it said it was fully charged after about 40 min. I know its supposed to take like 4 hours. Now my ipod runs out of battery life pretty quick (just listening to music..not videos) and i think its cause my first charge wasnt to the full extent. anyone have some advice as i am worried i have really screwed up.

yea i have the same problem with mine too, the ipod came fully charged and nothin in the box said anything about charging it FIRST. My ipod lasts maybe 40 minutes while playing videos. i dont get what the heck is goin on, so is it a faulty battery or what? how can i resolve this problem

Quick restore question - please answer!

My ipod has completely wiped itself of everything, but is still showing on the pc that it has used most of the space allowed - so it wont put all my songs back on. If i resore my ipod, does it just wipe everything off the ipod..I just wanna check that it doesnt wipe anything off itunes on my pc as i've never restored b4.

Restoring doesn't do anything to your computer or iTunes. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

You need Apple's mini-DVI to video adaptor. I can't link to the apple store page, but search for "mini DVI video", and you'll find it. You can either run an S-video cable, or an RCA (the yellow part) out to your TV.
For audio, you can run a cable from your 3.5mm mini audio jack to the red and white stereo RCA inputs on your TV. Here's one at random; Monster Cable probably has a good version.

How often does Apple come out with new iPods (on average) Is it about 2 years? Do you think they will drop the iPod?
