Ipod does not appear in file manager

I have an iPad Mini running OS 7.0.4. I can no longer see this in File Manaager under Windows 7. yet iTunes is fine with it. Any ideas?

When I try to restore it comes up with an error message (there has been a range of numbers). The I touch works, just not with itunes.
Sometimes it recognises and tries to restore.  Other times it does not recognise.
I have read on a forum to change the letter assigned to a drive but I cannot see a letter assigned in the disk manager to be able to reassign.
I have changed and reinstalled the Apple mobile device support .
The problem seem to start after an update.
I have spent hours trying to solve this, any advice would be great!

I upgraded to iTunes 11.1.4 and at first iTunes didn't work so i came on here and found a way to fix it. Now that I have fixed it my iPod does not appear on iTunes or on my computer.

Removed. Re-synced. Still not working. Factory reset the phone, re-installed music... made a GIANT "Other" file instead of actually adding any songs.
Factory resetting again. Any other solutions?
EDIT: If It helps, I'm doing this all over USB connection, not trying to sync music through wifi or anything.

My ipod touch has a permanent image of the end of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to an icon of ITunes. I can't reset using the two button method, and ipod does not appear on itunes when I plug it into the computer - and nothing else happens either.  This happened after I agreed to a software update which failed.  How can I get it going again?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod does not appear in itunes after windows scan and fix

Two days ago, I restored my Ipod classic using Itunes 9.2.0.61. After restoration my Ipod started freezing Itunes and Vista. At a point, I saw a blue screen and my computer forced a shutdown. When it rebooted, Vista kept asking to automatically "scan and fix" problems on my Ipod. Thinking that would solve the "freeze" problem, I stupidly went ahead to have Vista scan and fix my Ipod. Now the freeze problem is gone, but my Ipod does not appear in Itunes. I have tried the five Rs from Apple, but that has not helped. Anyone with a solution?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Ipod does not appear in the organizer.

    Hi All.
I've installed the SDK 8 on my Mac OS x 10.5.
While following the Apple "How to start" I'v tried to get my Ipod device info from the xcode organizer.
Unfortunately my Ipod does not appear in there and it does being recognized by the Itunes 7.7.
Can anyone please explain to me what can be the problem (and how to solve it??)
    Thanks.
    Yaniv.

I digged into it as I had the same problem, I found this in the logs:
    7/17/08 21:49:46 Xcode[2242] Error loading /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/iPhoneR emoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice: dlopen(/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/ iPhoneRemoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice, 265): no suitable image found. Did find:
/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/iPhoneR emoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
It turned out that XCode was running in 64bit mode, so it could not load the 32bit plugin. After toggling the 'Open in 32 Bit Mode' checkbox in 'Get Info' on XCode the device loaded (in 32 bit mode), then the iPod showed in the organizer.

  • IPod does not appear in ITunes updated for OS X 10.10

My iPod does not appear in iTunes, the desktop, or under devices in the newly downloaded version OS X 10.10. Is there a way to have it displayed?

I am also having this problem.  My 120GB and 160GB Classics, neither will show up anywhere on 10.10.
Not in the system report under USB, not in iTunes, the screens don't show that they are connecting.
    Quite annoying..
