Ipod does not play audiotracks in correct order

I have several audiobooks that I transferred to my iPod. Unfortunately it does not play them in the correct order.
Initially the "Name" was something like "1-7 A is for Alibi" up to "7-7 A is for Alibi". The tracks in the info had all the correct numbers.
The iPod always started with 7-7 and went to 6-7. I changed the first part of the name to "1 of 7.....". Still the same problem.
I deleted the "1 of 7...." part. Still the same problem.
I switched the display in iTunes so the tracks were in the correct order. Still .. (you guessed it).
From the info panels I cannot see any tag that might cause the confusion.
Anybody has eny idea?
Thanks.

Check your iPod settings to see if it is set to shuffle. I think this is the default setting in the iPod to shuffle audio tracks. The iPod's shuffle setting is independent of iTunes shuffle setting, so setting a playlist or your whole library in iTunes to shuffle or not shuffle will have zero effect on whatever the iPod setting is set for.

  • Ipod Does not Play songs

Ipod does not play music. Instead of playing the song, it just lists the title (like when a song is playing) and then moves to the next song without playing the song. It's as if it automatically forwards to the next song (song titles displays for every second). And this occurs in shuffle mode, and/or selecting a playlist. Need help! Ipod was purchased in this site on May 27,2006.

  • IPod Shuffle does not play podcasts in set order

I see others have been having this trouble and have tried the recommendations but they are not working.
I have tried to set the play order of podcasts and am only successful when I sort them by time. If I download a number of podcasts on the same day (someone said that they play by download date) I cannot set the play order. Someone said to drag the podcast to the desired order and that does not work with podcasts. It might with albums but not with podcasts.
In addition, someone said to drag each podcast to the iPod in the order you want each one played. That does not work, either. Finally, if I do settle for the order displayed in the iPod play list and I haven't sorted by time, the Shuffle will not play them in the order played in iTunes.
I have Shuffle set in iTunes to repeat all play; not shuffle. I don't use autofill. I'm sure I'm setting the button on the back of the Shuffle to play in order. Is there something I'm overlooking?
I'm running the latest of both iTunes and iPod Shuffle on Windows XP Pro. I just re-loaded this software on a new computer and had the same problem with XP Pro on the old computer.
Am I asking too much from iTunes? I don't use it for music. Do I actually need a more sophisticated program other then iTunes if I use Shuffle only for podcasts?

That is in fact how podacsts work in the iTunes/iPod system. The only sorting is based on release date (time) which is set and sortable only in iTunes. You aren't missing anything, and nothing you do subsequently will affect that order; podcasts are and are treated differently.

  • Shuffle does not play playlist in the order set in itunes, when play in order is selected

My new shuffle does not play the songs on a playlist in the correct order (as they appear in itunes), my previous shuffle allowed me to see tha tracks and swith the order.
Why won't this new shuffle play in the order I want (shuffle isn't selected)
Is there a way to see the tracks and order loaded onto the shuffle?
    Thanks

I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked.

  • Ipod does not play music in play after...

    Hello Guys...
I have this problem... In the night I connect my ipod to the computer to charge while I am working, in the morning I browse in the ipod menu but when I play any music file, the screen shows the "play symbolo" but the song does not play, I press "pause" then "play" but not works, after it, I reset the ipod pressing the "menu and center" buttons, after it, works good.
In the day when I dont play music for couple hours and try again, the problem comes again.
    The question, any solution?
I have 5th ipod generation, 30G, ipod software 1.2.1, iTunes (last version) 7.1.1.5, windows xp.
Thanks in advanced for the help.

  • The iPod does not play any songs, always stuck on 0:00. All the browsing features work.

The iPod classic does not play any of the songs.  all the songs stop at 0:00 and don't play. How do I fix this?

    Try the Hard Reset
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • IPod does not play songs in order - iPod Shuffle 1GB

When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?
    Thanks in advance.

You might want to post in ipod shuffle forum.

  • IPod does not play anything. But...

My iPod video will not play anything. It doesn't freeze, it doesn't skip, it just won't play anything. The buttons are functioning, and I've tried the 5Rs, it just won't play anything. The time stays at 0:00, and I'm able to do things like go back to the menu, and change the volume. I've viewed the other topics on the forum, and restoration has worked for all of them, but not me. The songs are from CDs that were lawfully purchased. Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried a reformat in Windows (FAT32, not a quick format) and then a Restore in iTunes?
Also, after doing this and before syncing, Deauthorize your computer in the Store menu, play one of your iTunes Store purchased songs and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password. Now sync the iPod.

Hard Reset the  iPod  as below- this does not delete or erase any song or data.
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON

  • Ipod does not play anymore

My ipod recently stopped playing music. The icon will be on as if it was playing but it is not outputting any sound. I tried my car speakers and my computer speakers. I tried resetting it as well but to no avail. Any suggestions on what i can do? Thanks.

The exact same thing happenned to me this weekend. I have tried all of the reset options and iTunes was kind enough to reformat my device for me (which lost a bunch of content, but I guess it doesn't matter if the device doesn't even play).
Has anyone come up with any other fixes?

  • My ipod does not play in the left earbud.

I have had a first generation ipod nano for about a year and a half now, and, recently, it has been unable to make sound out of my left earbud. I have tried three different sets of earbuds on it, and the same problem has occured. Am I correct in thinking that there is a problem with my ipod, and not the earbuds? If so, how can I fix it?

It is a hardware issue e.g. bad contact between the earphone jack the earphone plug
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ or ifixit at your own risk

  • Itunes 12 not playing podcasts in correct order

I upgraded to the new version of itunes and ever since it will not play the oldest podcast to newest as it used to do in itunes 11.  I found the settings and changed the setting to play from oldest to newest, I even changed the setting to show oldest on top and newest on bottom.  neither of these settings seems to be effective in controlling itunes.  How do I get these settings to actually effect itunes and not just be a placebo setting.
Thanks in advance for all help.

I'm having the same issue. I tried reinstalling but was not successful. Have also yet to hear back from Apple with a solution. Are you still having the issue?

  • IPod does not play well with left speaker

I have tried several ear buds as well as stereo's for playback with my iPod. The left speaker plays at about 1/2 as loud as the right speaker in all these devices. This has happened with 2 seperate iPods. I've downloaded songs from 2 seperate PC's to the iPod and still get the same results. Has anyone else experienced this?

hmm mine does the same thing from time to time but with the right speaker...I thought it was the car stereo I was playing it through but I've tried a few sets of headphones to discover that it must be the ipod itself.
I've discovered that this is an intermittant problem - the ipod will either work fine or produce only 20% of volume throught the right speaker. The problem doesn't come and go while you're listening to it, but when you turn the thing off and come back to play music or video later - it either works correctly or it doesn't.
