IPod does not play songs in order
When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?
Thanks in advance.

Ipod does not play music. Instead of playing the song, it just lists the title (like when a song is playing) and then moves to the next song without playing the song. It's as if it automatically forwards to the next song (song titles displays for every second). And this occurs in shuffle mode, and/or selecting a playlist. Need help! Ipod was purchased in this site on May 27,2006.

Ariel

My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?
I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked. -
My ipod is not playing the correct order of my songs in playlists
my ipod is not playing the correct order of my song order in my playlists. it plays random order of playlist songs
You may have tapped the Shuffle button (looks like two arrows crossing path) in Blue. Tap it once again to turn it off.

After 4.3.3 upgrade ipod does not shuffle songs
After 4.3.3 upgrade ipod does not shuffle songs. The stop shuffling after any interruption occurs. So If play in the card, get a call, answer it then go back to the music, I have to manually select shuffle. This did not occur prior to the IOS update.
WEP and Apple products are only somewhat compatible - as you are finding out. If you create your own passwords, then you have to follow specific rules - 48 bit, 5 characters, 128 bit, 14 characters. Shorter or longer, the password won't work.
If you are stuck with WEP (I'd update the laptops with a USB wireless stick before I used WEP, but that's your decision) try the following:
1. Use the 128 bit setting
2. Either create a 14 character password or use WEP key 1 (that's the hex key) in place of your password on the touch.
You could set up a second wireless access point and, as long as it used a different SSID, setup to run WPA2-AES encryption. That would take care of your modern devices. -
IPod touch does not play songs in 2012 BMW iDrive
My iPod touch cannot play songs in BMW iDrive. It is recognized as Auxillary Front, and is not recognized as USB connection via Y-cable. The song stops playing after 5-10 seconds. However, my iPad and friend's iPod Nano works. Any idea?
What model iPod and iOS do you have?
When it plays with the iPod are y using the same connection?
Does BMW's site say that it works with your model iPod and iOS?
have you tried resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -
Ipod does not play audiotracks in correct order
I have several audiobooks that I transferred to my iPod. Unfortunately it does not play them in the correct order.
Initially the "Name" was something like "1-7 A is for Alibi" up to "7-7 A is for Alibi". The tracks in the info had all the correct numbers.
The iPod always started with 7-7 and went to 6-7. I changed the first part of the name to "1 of 7.....". Still the same problem.
I deleted the "1 of 7...." part. Still the same problem.
I switched the display in iTunes so the tracks were in the correct order. Still .. (you guessed it).
From the info panels I cannot see any tag that might cause the confusion.
Anybody has eny idea?
Thanks.
iPod Video Windows XP ProCheck your iPod settings to see if it is set to shuffle. I think this is the default setting in the iPod to shuffle audio tracks. The iPod's shuffle setting is independent of iTunes shuffle setting, so setting a playlist or your whole library in iTunes to shuffle or not shuffle will have zero effect on whatever the iPod setting is set for.

The iPod classic does not play any of the songs. all the songs stop at 0:00 and don't play. How do I fix this?
Try the Hard Reset
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

6th gen iPod Nano does not play songs
Today, for no apparent reason, my 6th gen iPod Nano has stopped playing songs. When I select a song, the Play button changes to a Pause button, just as it normally would if the song was playing, but the track does not play, and no time elapses on the song progress bar - it just remains at 0:00. If I fast forward through the song, the song progress bar remains at whatever time I advance it to. I've pressed Play/Pause repeatedly to try and get the songs to play, but nothing happens other than the Play/Pause icon toggling back and forth between playing and paused.
This happens when I try to play any song or podcast on the iPod. It was able to play every song as recently as yesterday. All of these songs and podcasts play just fine on iTunes and on any other iPod, iPhone or iPad that I sync them to.
I have restarted the Nano several times. I've also done a complete restore of the Nano from scratch. I've got the latest version of iTunes, and all of the other functionality works just fine on the Nano.
Any thoughts?Problem appears to be solved, thanks to the downtown Portland Apple Store Genius Bar. Apparently there was some sort of conflict with the permissions for the music (even though I own all of it, and all of the media played just fine on all of my other iOS devices).
To fix it, I went to the iTunes "Store" menu, chose "Deauthorize this computer" and followed the prompts. I then quit iTunes, restarted iTunes and double-clicked a TV show that I had purchased. This prompted me to re-authorize my computer, which I did.
I then synced a couple of songs, and they played just fine. I restored the rest of my playlists, and I'm happy to say that everything is behaving a-ok now. Phew! -
6th gen ipod won't play songs in order?
My 6th gen ipod, The little square one,
I have playlists, but it does not play the songs in order - so why even have a playlist? Did something in the updates to iTunes change this? Plus there are no settings either in my iTunes which is up to date on my iMac (Maverick 7.1.1) which allow my to assk for this when syncing nor is there an option on sad little gen 6th. (I soooo regret I wore out the battery on my gen 5 nano).
Anyone?
Thanks!Hey esmeglass!
Is it possible that you simply have shuffle turned on while playing your music? Try using the user guide for your iPod, found below, to determine if shuffle is turned on and how to turn it off:

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

After upgrading iTunes on my laptop to version 10.5.1, my player will NOT play any songs. My Library seems intact and no songs appear to be missing, but no song will play --not a song downloaded from iTunes Store, nor a song downloaded from a CD. I was hoping version 10.5.2 would fix this, but apparently not. Still not working. Songs do play on my iPod and on my iPhone and I can transfer songs from my laptop to my devices; I can also download Apps to my laptop through the iTunes Store, etc.--all other functions of iTunes seem to be okay, only the player is not working. (My laptop is an hp Probook with Intel i5 chip, Windows 7 Pro OS.)
Does it look like the song is playing at the top of iTunes? Can you see the timer moving?
Also, make sure the volume slider isn't all the way to the left (mute).

I have the shuffle option off on my iPhone 4 but when I listen to an album it does not play the songs in order. How do I stop this from happening?
This is the control DaVBMan is talking about. Tap the shuffle control until it shows white for shuffle off.
