Ipod doesn't appear in iTunes neither on My Computer

Like the topic says.
Have called with apple support and read the website, apple said I had to call with microsoft support because it has to do with the drivers, microsoft support couldn't help me.
It's not the iPod that doesn't work cause it does work on my Mac.
I read it could be Mac or Windows formatted so I restored my iPod and tried again. No succes.
It does display on properties of hardware but displays a yellow dot with a ! on it.
Also tried reinstalling everything.
This computer runs on windows xp pro service pack 2.
Thanks

Try manually connecting the device to your PC in Disk Mode and then restoring it iTunes.

Putting iPod devices with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode
If necessary, verify that your iPod has a Click Wheel.
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it is charged.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will should say "Do not disconnect".
If you are having difficulty putting your iPod into Disk Mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center. If you are still unable to put your iPod into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.

  • IPod doesn't appear in iTunes and Windows

I have a next problem with connecting nano with Windows:
iPod doesn't appear in iTunes: iTunes 7 diagnostic write that host-controller of bus IEEE 1394 was not found.
Sometimes Windows see the demountable disk, but can't open it. Occasionally, when i charge nano, iTunes gives out the message, that iPod is damaged.
After connecting iPod to the computer, it shows the "Do not disconnect" screen, which not disappear after nano disconnecting. And I need reset iPod everytime after charging.
    Does any help me?

    I read this article.
I can't restore iPod because iPod Updater can't recognize it, when one connect to the computer.
How to solve the problem: as i wrote, iTunes diagnostic informs that can't find the controller IEEE 1394 (WiFi), but I HAVEN'T WiFi card on computer, I use USB 2.0.

Removed. Re-synced. Still not working. Factory reset the phone, re-installed music... made a GIANT "Other" file instead of actually adding any songs.
Factory resetting again. Any other solutions?
EDIT: If It helps, I'm doing this all over USB connection, not trying to sync music through wifi or anything.

  • Ipod doesn't appear in itunes or on desktop - trouble transfering music

When connecting Ipod, it doesn't appear in itunes or on desktop (Windows). Attempted to fix.
Reinstalled itunes and ipod, also upgraded itunes - no success in fixing.
Restored ipod (through computer)- no success in fixing - and of course, lost all songs in ipod.
Now, ipod sometimes appears in itunes, sometimes doesn't.
I've had a little success transfering songs (albeit, inconsistently) back to ipod from itunes, but sporadically.
    Itunes is working fine when playing songs on computer;
Ipod working fine when playing songs on ipod. It's difficult transferring songs back to ipod. I checked cable and port with other equipment. Cable and port appear to be working. When clicking on Safely Remove Hardware, computer identifies ipod as "drive 0." I need help on how to get my ipod to appear in itunes again and fix the transfering problem?

  • IPod doesn't appear in iTunes

My iPod Touch doesn't appear in ITunes, so of course I can't sync it.
Now, my iPod nano syncs just fine with the same cable and USB connection, so the problem must be with the iPod touch.
When I plug it in, I get that little "chirp" and the battery indicator appears on the screen, but that's it.
Any ideas what's going on?   What should I do?

Try here. The iPod touch (and iPhone and iPad) use different drivers than the Nano.

  • IPod doesn't appear in iTunes or Device Manager.

My iPod has worked fine, until I plugged it into my computer, and attempted to upgrade to version 1.1.4, now my iPod touch doesn't appear when I plug it into my computer. It doesn't appear in iTunes, or in the device manager, it does however start charging. Also, it has completely wiped the enitire memory (Music, photos, videos etc).
I have tryed the "5 R's", restart, reset etc etc. None of it works. I have tryed re-installing everything (iTune, quicktime, etc) and that doesn't work.
I've tryed hard and soft resets, and I've tryed restarting the Apple Mobile Device thingy.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME
    Pretty please

    I figured it out
You have to put you iPod in recovery mode.
    You do this by...
Turning off your iPod properly (hold the top button in for 6 seconds, slide the slider)
Then you hold the home button, an while your still holding it down, connect to your computer.
Keep holding, keep holding when the apple comes up, keep holdin until you see the 'Like to iTunes' picture.
Then iTunes should say it detects an iPod in recovery mode, an it should happen from there

  • My ipod doesn't appear on itunes when plugged in my computer?

My Ipod touch 4g doesn't appear on itunes when plugged in my computer. It doesn't charge on my computer and I can't use itunes with my computer and my ipod. What would be solutions for this problem?

    See:

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears.

  • IPod doesn't appear in iTunes or on desktop

My iPod does not appear in iTunes or on the desktop even though it is charging though the firewire. Can anyone help? I tried the steps recommended in the support section of Apple's website, but nothing changed.

My iPod knows it's plugged into my Mac. It charges, shows up in the Finder, and very very occasionally even pops up in iTunes. Here's the thing though, it's about a 1 in 50 chance of iTunes recognising the iPod is plugged in, even when the Finder does.
I've gone through the endlessly entertaining process of restoring the iPod software (it's currently at 2.3, and was when the problem first showed up), unplugging and plugging it in countless times, and finally reinstalling 10.4. Things became flakey, albeit workable, from the day I first installed 10.4.
After reinstalling 10.4, the problems persisted. So when I saw iTunes 4.8 had been released this morning, I hoped a quiet fix had been included. First time it ran, my iPod showed up, but the second time, same old problem. It's present in the Finder, Disk Utility knows it's there, it works with iSync (or did when I last synced anyway), but iTunes usually completely ignores the device.
When it does show its face in iTunes, I haven't done anything special as far as I can tell (well, besides restarted my Mac, reset the iPod, and reconnected it countless times).
I'm lost for options. Next step is calling Apple.

  • IPod won't appear in iTunes or in My Computer. Help please

    Hello
my iPod is fully charged (2nd gen nano), and charged up last night.
When i plug it in to put more songs on, it won't appear in iTunes or my computer. I know that the USB port is working fine, becuase i tried my pen drive and that was fine, and the iPod screen lights up.
I've dont the first 4 R's - Reset, Retry, Restart and Reinstall.
But i don't really want to do Restroe, because it will wipe everything off my iPod, and if i then still can't get it to sync, then i'm abit screwed.
    Any toher ideas from anyone?
    Any help would be good
    thankyouu
    xx

When the screen lights up, is there anything on the display? If it's just a white lit up screen, try to force it into disk mode (which can be difficult if you can't see anything). Essentially, turn the hold switch off so there's no orange color beneath it, hold the menu & middle buttons for 10 seconds and then immedidately hold the middle & play/pause buttons for 10 seconds. If it appears in iTunes at this point you may want to consider restoring.
If this is not the case and you see the normal display when it's connected to the computer, I'd suggest connecting it to a different USB port (preferably one directly on the back of the computer - avoid connecting the iPod via USB hubs, keyboards, printers, etc). Try this step even though your USB port works with other devices. You might also try a different USB cable if you have one from another iPod.

  • IPod doesn't appear in iTunes 7 or on my desktop

After recieving my new MacBook Pro, and upgrading to iTunes 7.02, transferring all of my music and files from my PC to my new Mac, and then restoring the iPod (5th Gen, 60gb) and syncing it to the new iTunes (big mistake, had i known this earlier...) my Mac and my PC won't recognize my iPod. It will recognize other people's iPods, using the same USB cord, but not mine. The library plays just fine. I've tried just about everything, the 5 R's, "downgrading" to iTunes 6, on both computers, completly deleting everything music related on my Mac, and then redownloading: still nothing works.
I've been searching on this site for awhile now, but I still havn't really found anything to help me out.
At least Im not the only one with this same problem.
My iPod plays and charges fine, I just can't upload any music onto it.
Any suggestions would be VERY helpful. Good thing my 1 yr warranty just expired last week, haha.

well, I did a full restore to original settings (it didn't let me back out to 1.2, so it's still 1.2.1), and everything is working fine now. or was. it just had a problem playing music this morning (the play triangle came on but the music didn't start/progress bar didn't move) until I reset (holding menu and center down for 10 seconds). that was one of the other issues I'd seen before too. I don't want to reload 70G of stuff once a week. I'm a bit bummed about this.
So far the computer is still seeing it when I plug it in. The only thing I did different this time is I don't have "enable disk use" turned on (yet). I did try multiple ports, direct on the computer and through the back of the cinema display. for those of you that it's not working for don't forget to check the hardware profile and see if the usb internal hub sees it. for me the iPod OS seemed to freeze up -- even if I unplugged it I would have to reset it before I could get it to bring the menus back up. It definately acted like a software issue of some kind.
Okay, I just turned "enable disk use" on, disconnected and reconnected and had the same failure I used to have after a number of no-problem connections. besides turning that on, I let Delicious Library write it's files into the notes sections, I did nothing else. I turned "enable disk use" back off and it connected just fine (twice so far).
I guess I'll leave that off for now. best of luck to those whose problem isn't as easy to fix.

  • IPod won't appear in iTunes when connected to computer

Hey, I've tried 2 different connectors but it's not registering at all. At first the computer registered it but acted like it was a digital camera or some other device and would let me into folders but wouldn't open it in iTunes, and now I'm getting nothing from it - any thoughts?! Thanks

  • Original ipod not showing up in itunes when connected to computer

My original ipod has worked fine until a few months ago. I connected it to my 10.4.7 Mac and it won't recognize that it's hooked to the computer. The ipod screen just says "OK to disconnect". I downloaded the new itunes but that didn't do anything, and I'll try the 5 R's, but any ideas if that doesn't work? It's not full, so I don't know what's wrong with it.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are.
    Still no joy? See these.

If AMDS is running, you are using a USB port directly on the computer and not a hub, you have disconnected other USB devices except keyboard and mouse, you have completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925, You have tried cleaning the connector on the bottom of the phone, you have tried a different cable, you have installed the latest USB drivers for your computer, you have disabled your antivirus and firewall, you are running as an Administrator account and you have tried creating a new user on your computer and connected when logged in as that user then you have exhausted my knowledge. The only other thing to try is a different computer. If it isn't recognized on a different computer you have a hardware problem. Good luck!
