IPod doesn´t play songs anymore - it just keeps skipping through the playli

st
When I select to play a song - no matter if selected from the menu via interpret / album or title, it goes to the list of songs, but doesn´t play them. It keeps skipping the tracks (1 to 2, to 3 and so on) until the end of the playlist is reached. Then, it returns to the main menu. Is it just some software bug, which can be solved or is it broken?
I appreciate any help!

You can use yamipod http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ to copy from iPod to the PC. If the files are damaged/corrupt on the iPod tho this won't do much good cuz you'll just have a copy of damaged files. Just use yamipod to copy and see if they play fine on the PC. If they do then you can continue with a restore using the iPOd updater. If that does not work it MAY be that the iPod is damaged and you will have to send it in for repairs

I've just connected the ipod to my computer and checked the music on the iPod. The album that I am having trouble with shows an exclamation symbol next to it. I've tried deleting the album from iTunes and re downloading it then syncing but it doesn't appear to affect the information shown the iPod. The album neither deletes nor updates.

  • My iPod doesn't play songs...it's scanning them. Help.

My iPod doesn't play the songs. When I select a song, I press play and it bounces right back to the menu. Then, all on its own, it begins to scan through everyone of my 1,200 songs. What's happening? I did restart it an also re-booted the pod...nothing...same thing. Any suggestions? Would it help if I erased everything in the iPod?

Yep, a restore would probably be the next step.

  • Help - ipod doesn't play songs but skips through them

My ipod suddenly started skipping through songs and that's all it does. It will not play music or video, just skips through it to the next one, and no album art is showing on anything. Does anyone have any advice or help?

Does your iPod do this with every song on it?
How long has this been happening?
Also, try playing the songs, then in the middle of a skipping session, press "pause" on it. Does the album art show then? If that's the case, then simply your iPod bogs up when doing all that skipping. If that's not the case, then the album art hasn't loaded correctly.
As for the skipping through everything, if you reset your iPod (I think that's what it's called, not formatting, or something..). That will refresh it, and may take care of it. You will lose settings and stuff, though.

  • My Ipod doesn't sync songs anymore, can anybody help me out with this?

Hi all. Yesterday i did a Recovery on my computer and that wiped everything clean off of my computer, including the Itune program that i downloaded. And now, every since i downloaded Itunes again, it won't sync songs into my Ipod anymore. When i would download a few songs into Itunes, I would press on the sync button a message comes up saying that my ipod is synced with another Itunes library and can only be synced with one at a time. This won't let me transfer the songs onto my ipod. When i tryed to sync my songs again another message pops up saying to 'erase and sync'. Meaning that in order for me to sync the new songs onto my ipod, then they are gonna erase all of my existing songs that is currently on my ipod already! I don't wanna do that. I thought about restoring my ipod but i'm afraid that that would erase all of my songs off of my ipod as well.  What do i do? Help would really be appreciated. Thank you.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the restored/rolled back PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new/different library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • IPOD doesn't play song.

I haven't downloaded a song to my ipod twice now, the song plays fine on itunes, but cuts off and quits playing on my ipod, i have reset it and nothing. ????

Yeah. My first generation nano won't play one song. Ironically, it's one of the only songs I got off iTunes instead of off a CD, and it won't play on the thing it's designed for. Dont literally everything Apple suggests, but no dice. It's kinda funny that if I'd stolen the song from P2P or something, it would have worked. It plays on my Mac fine though.

  • HT4623 When I go to use my Ipod on my music app it just keeps flipping through the songs and won't allow me to play my music is there a solution to solve this problem?

Did I need another iphone or can I fix the problem myself?

    Hello G iphone
No, you would not need to get another phone unless you want one. But the main thing that needs to be done is to sync the media back onto your iPhone. I have provided articles for troubleshooting the skipping, managing of the sync, and finally an article to download the purchases again through the iTunes app.

  • My iPod doesn't play songs, and is not recognized by iTunes

Well, I have had my iPod for about 3 years, it is a 4th generation non-video 40 GB. One day it just stopped working, and now it does not play any songs. when I turn it on it makes this odd whirring sounds that computers make when they try really hard to do something. I cannot charge it, and it is not recognized by iTunes. Also when I turn it on, I get the apple.com/ipod/support (or whatever it is) screen. Needless to say, my warranty is expired, and so I cannot do anything for it except get a new battery, or buy a new one. Is there any way to fix this problem, or anyone out there who is experiencing the same thing?

I'm having the exact same problem with my wife's iPod. However it will play about 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next song.

  • TS2529 my music just keeps going through the entire ablum and goes back to the list. alblums just keep flipping along without any controls working

    Hi Folks
When I go to play my music on my iphone 3GS all that happens is either the songs just "flash" by and then return to the list. None of the controls work....What did I do now?????
    Thanks

I'm not looking for any warranty help or something, I just want a diagnosys of my phone's situation....
My phone is acting as if there was no battery in the phone. When there is no cable plugged, nothing happens. When there is a cable, something happens (not a lot though....).
Could it be the battery port on the motherboard that's down ?
PS : I've taken a Genius-bar appointment because I can't stand in that situation for years, so I'm not absolutely looking to gain money and avoid Apple's official help.

  • My iPod just keeps skipping songs

My iPod just keeps skipping through songs and won't play anything.

It skips on my ipod directly not my computer. It would play one song then just keep skipping through and wouldn't play anymore. I figured out how to fix it though. You need to push the menu button and the circle in the middle at the same time until the apple comes onto the screen, this should reset it. It worked for mine. Thanks

  • Doesn't play songs, "itunes is not configured for use with mac-formatted"??

Hi, new ipod shuffle. Seems to charge fine, all indicator lights function as expected. Everything looks fine in itunes. But it doesn't play songs. I have the most recent versions of itunes and the ipod software. Re-set, updated, and restored, nothing works. Even restored using the restore utility. Re-started computer. Checked for volume control. Won't play songs. Tried different file types. Songs play fine from itunes library and from the device's library within itunes. Tried different headphones. Hooked it up to computer speakers. Turning volume all the way up on device and speakers, heard some very faint rhythmic static, so my guess is the jack socket (or whatever you call it) is just messed up, but it seems weird that it can transfer power and data to the device but doesn't work for sound...
The only other issues that have come up is that the drive disappears in explorer once it syncs with itunes. Other people who've noticed this seem to have completely different problems so I don't think it's related.
Also, I have MacDrive on my computer. And when it starts up with the ipod plugged in, MacDrive offers the message "Itunes is not configured for use with Mac-formatted ipods." It offers to automatically reconfigure itunes so it can read mac-formatted ipods. Since I've restored the device, I don't see why formatting should be an issue so I say "no."
Should I try letting macdrive do its format thing? Should I try formatting the ipod disk on the My Computer menu? Or should I just email apple and tell them the jack's busted?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

  • Ipod mini not playing songs

    Help
Have had Ipod mini for 18 months and since downloading latest ipod software it is being v temperamental! If you choose an album to play it will start then immediately skip through all songs to end and go back to menu. This is happening on existing albums (ie have been on for some time), new imports and strangely new imports that played 2 days ago.
    Can someone suggest anything
    Custombuilt; XP SP2; 1.2ghz athlon; 512mb RAM;

Play the purchased songs once on your computer. Just go into iTunes, click on the purchased song, and hit the play button. Let it play the song(s), then exit iTunes.
Hook your iPod up to your computer. iTunes should open automatically, as per usual, and will load the songs (if you have chosen to update automatically). Once the update is complete, try the iPod. Mine worked after doing this, thanks to the poster above.
