ive had my ipod for over a year and a half, and i know age can have an effect, but i was using my ipod for data storage about a week ago and i tried to turn it on, and it wouldnt, even though it was fully charged. i also tried to sync it with the computer, both of them running windows xp. iuve tried resetting it and it hasnt worked yet. any help would be great.

You should try [This little program|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/ipod_itunes/ipodresetutilit y104forwindows.html].
Note: For most people, it doesn't work from the first time.
Hope this will work,

  • HT1460 ipod doesn't respond to pressing dial

lately my ipod doesn't respond to pressing the dial as if to go to the next or previous song, or to back out further to the main menu.  Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't.  It's hard to believe the dial has worn out - I've barely used it.

do a reset.. PUSH AND HOLD the menu button and the middle button at the same time for 10 seconds.. it may take a few trys.

  • IPod doesn't respond to buttons, & backlight is on constantly.

So... my iPod doesn't respond to pressing buttons.
There is a constant glow coming from the screen, but it won't go away with anything I do.
I have tried plugging it into the computer, NOTHING is getting this screen away.
    What should I do.

do a reset.. PUSH AND HOLD the menu button and the middle button at the same time for 10 seconds.. it may take a few trys.

  • When I turn my ipod 3rd gen to the side the album artwork doesnt appear I think my ipod doesn't respond to being shaken I need help!

How can I make my ipod respond to being shaken?

The entire point of any warranty is that it guarantees against manufacturer defect for the term of the warranty.  There is no guarantee past the warranty period.  This is the way a warranty works.

  • Help! iPod doesn't respond

I plugged my iPod nano (1G) to my computer and it didn't respond. I Tried plugging it to FireWire and nothing happens. I also tried holding the menu and center keys... nothing.
    Please help!

    Hi,
I think I found the answer...I had the same problem, and now my ipod mini works again.
How did you reset your ipod? did you just go the menu>settings>reset?...i tried that..and it didnt work.
I found another way of resetting. On your ipod, hold down "Menu" and the centre (select) button for a couple seconds until the apple logo appears. After that, connect the ipod to the computer again. Hopefully this works for you!

  • Ipod doesn't respond to any keys or turn off.

    Hi,
I have a 30g Ipod vedio. While upldating the library in the manual mode, I got a a message in Itunes that my Ipod is corrupted and needs to be restored. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my ipod, since then my ipod is not resonding to any keys, and I can't turn it off or on. It has a "do not disconnect" message on it's screen, even when it is disconnected. And my computer doesn;t recognize the USB device anymore when I connect it.
Even when I connect my ipod to a power adapter it does not come to the menu screen.
I have exausted all possible options that I know of, to set it right. Any help on this would be much appreciated/

Before you get too deep into this issue, are you sure that your "hold" switch isn't on?
The "hold" switch is located on the top of your iPod. The On position should be orange-colored, and the Off position is a grey-colored area.
Are you able to reset your iPod? Press and hold the "Menu" and center buttons together for about 7 seconds.
If you can't reset it, try connecting it to another power source (like a portable power adaptor), and instantly disconnect it after a few seconds. This may hopefully break it out of "Do Not Disconnect".
I hope that helps your issue.

  • IPod doesn't respond to touch after falling into water

Ok so I dropped my iPod in the toilet, clean water (the classic case).
It happened a few days ago, and I immidiately dried it out and put it in a bowl of rice.
At first, it still wouldn't work, but then after a day or so, everytime I plugged it to the computer, the computer made a sound, So I left it in a bowl of salt (the big chuncks kind).
Now I can turn it on, and it works and looks fine, but it won't respond to my touch. I can't unlock the lock screen, or completely shut it down, because it just won't respond, and still, the buttons work (the turn on button and the home screen button).
It's been in this current situation for two days now, and I would really be gratefull if someone told me what I should do to fix it.
And if it can't be fixed by me, will the people in the apple store be able to fix it?

I would dry it longer. Then
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod doesn't respond to touch and is stuck in DFU or recovery mode

So the touch screen of my ipod touch didn't work and I went along with what people said (I pressed the home and power button at the same time) and now the touch screen still doesn't work AND it is stuck in recovery mode or DFU mode. I've tried to get out of both the recovery mode and DFU mode but I'm still stuck in either the recovery or DFU mode.
What can I do to get my ipod touch back in the normal state without having to restore it?  .

Nothing that I know of.You  will have to restore the iPod via iTunes.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • 2 this problem has occured...iPod Touch screen only glows (doesn't respond)

OK, so this is how the story goes. I got my lovely iPod Touch (8gb) in December 09. It's been totally wonderful...until yesterday afternoon, that is. I pushed the home button in order to get back to the home screen from the music, when the iPod froze! I tried to navigate, but alas, the screen did not wish to respond. I decided to shut it off, and restart it, as is recommended by Apple, but when it got to the slide to power off screen, it did absolutely nothing! I pushed the volume buttons a bit, and saw, through the transparent dark screen, the volume adjust, but still I had no response when touching the touch screen. I then restored the iPod. After a lot of trying to remember my backup password, I had my iPod back up and running! Or did I? Just now, I was exiting out of an app, when the iPod froze. AGAIN! Now I've got it hooked up to my computer, but I don't wish to restore it just yet. Is there anything I can do to attempt to get it working before I restore it again (since that fix didn't last long)? Also, I am running the newest version of the iPod software, and this has only happened since the update, never before.

same as mine. suddenly it won't connect to my itunes. and when i turn it on after i turn it off, suddenly the logo just appear glowing and doesn't respond to any button i touch. how come?

  • Ipod Touch bottoms doesn't respond

hi, i'm fernando, and my ipod's touch g4 sleep/volumme doesn't respond, it just doesnt working, i restored it but it still the same, any help?

    Hi iKanji,
Is the screen stuck at a sync prompt? As I've had this happen with my iPhone many times in the past.... It's a strange predicament that you can get into and I don't now the cause...
At times I try to connect and disconnect my device from the dock connector until the device's OS realizes that one of the jobs are stuck and it reboots that prompt. Then all is fine.
Again this issue was with my iPhone and it was a lot worse before the 3.1.2 update. It happens very rarely now, and does come back to life once the OS of the device realizes that this is occuring. Until then, the screen and power buttons are totally useless..
Very frustrating, but this is the only solution I've seen work for me.
Good luck and let me know if this helps.

I think you have an Accessibility feature turned on. Triple click the Home button and then try to go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn all Accessibility features off. To scroll you may have to use three fingers. If proem see:

  • My ipod touch 4th gen froze! blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off, or connected to my laptop

my ipod touch 4th gen froze! only blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off or connected to my laptop!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.
