IPod doesn't see digital camera

Just bought a 60gb photo iPod. iPod didn't see my Canon DCS W-7 camera with the iPod camera connector inserted. Turned out it was the membrane case I had the iPod in prevented the connecter from being fully inserted. Lesson here is make sure the iPod camera connector is fully inserted into the iPod.

hey,
I had the songs I wanted to have on my ipod in the itunes library, and dragged from there into an explorer window as 'G:/removable hard-drive' (my ipod)
that should be correct?
still, it doesn't work
btw I found out something.. it sais the file type of the new songs I tried to add to be 'm4a'.. whereas it calls the ones that do work 'mp3'
how can I make sure files in the library I transport will be mp3?
thanks in advance

  • Windows thinks my ipod touch is a digital camera. How do I change this so itunes can see it?

Windows thinks my ipod touch is a digital camera. How can I change the device in windows, so that i can re-register it as an ipod and itunes can connect with it.?

It is normal for the iPod to be seen as a camera since that is how one gets photo off the iPod.  You can turn it off by:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Disabling digital camera notification in Windows XP
To get iTunes to see you iPod see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
If you previoulys installed camera or scanner software that may be causing the problem.

  • IPod to TV using digital camera cable, doesn't work. Help

    Hey
I've got the iPod 5th Generation 30Gb video. I ripped one of my DVDs onto my computer and then used videora to convert the DVD for use on the ipod. I used iTunes to stick the movie on my iPod.
The movie plays fine on the ipod, but when I go to connect the iPod to my LG Flatron TV it doesn't work. I am using a cable that came with my digital camera, it only has one black and one yellow rca plug. If I use it with the camera, the black is for video, and the yellow for audio. But on the ipod, I don't get anything. I have checked that the send to TV settings are On.
I've tried changing the format on the output from PAL to NTSC, nothing.
One thing I am not sure about is why my cable has got a little box thingy surrounding part of the wire, inside the box thingy are magnets, anyone know why these are here? Could this be what is causing it not to work. What should I do?
    Thanks

Here is some info for the pinout for the iPod.
    http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2006/04/zen-vision-m-video-cable-other-4 pole-35mm-pinouts.php
You need to find the pinout of the camera cable you have.
Probably be easier to get get an AV cable with a 3.5mm plug to (whatever fits into your TV) cable.
Usually, you simply have to swap the Red and the Yellow for it to work properly.

  • Ipod seen as a digital camera, and won't be recognized by Itunes.

Have: Ipod 2nd Generation (2.2.1), Windows Vista, Itunes Ver. 8.1
Problem: Alright here it is, my Ipod and my sister's is not being recognized by Itunes. It is however recognized by my computer as a digital camera. If I shutdown my computer and then plug in my Ipod while its off into the computer while its turning on its recognized. However, it won't sync saying "the ipod cannot be synced. the disk could not be read from or written to." Now it trys to sync but my Ipod doesn't have syncing on the screen. My Ipod though will be recognized by other computers.
Things I tried: All the steps on the apple page, please don't link me to the instructions again. I have uninstalled and installed Itunes soo mny times. Tried restoring it also, but couldn't finish the restore on my computer and had to use another one. Also I have tried plugging it in and out, using differant usb ports, pretty much everything with no success.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I know it is your first post so I'll offer a gentle reminder to start new problems as new posts and not hijack an existing thread. Your problem is different than the OP.
In your case, you need to disable the automatic camera notification. The help article how to that is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1857
The crashing part can be caused by an obsolete/incompatible driver on your PC. You will have to figure out how to update it so it doesn't crash or remove it entirely.

  • IPod only recognized as digital camera / Apple Software Update unable to be uninstalled

This may sound like a common problem, but I've done a LOT of work trying to fix it based on online searches. With no avail, I think this problem can't be easily fixed.
As the question states, the initial problem is that my iPod Touch (1st gen I think, maybe 2nd gen, iOS 3.1.3) wasn't recognized by iTunes as an iPod, but only as a digital camera (Windows 7, 64-bit). At first I was content because I didn't have extra songs I wanted to add. But then when I cleared the RAM one day, the iPod restarted with the USB/Connect to iTunes screen. Finally, I had no choice but to try to fix the iTunes problem. So, as most people suggest first, I tried to update iTunes.
Unfortunately iTunes was unable to update. There was a rolling back error, that I traced to Apple Mobile Device Software by using the Command Prompt and logging the install log. Apparently, iTunes didn't have sufficient permission by Windows to delete the necessary files. I even uninstalled iTunes to try to reinstall it, but it didn't reinstall, leaving me with no iTunes at all.
Then I extracted AMDS installer from the iTunes installation package and logged that installation process to find errors. According to an online source, the driver was blank, so I first tried using pnputil.exe in cmd to remove the Apple driver package. This failed, so I manually went into C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository to find the driver to delete it so it could reinstall. Unfortunately, it still wouldn't install.
In addition, I changed the ownership of ProgramData, Program Files, and Program Files (x86) in the C:\ disk to Administrator instead of SYSTEM and gave full permission to myself (the administrator) and "TrustedInstaller." A risky move, I know, but I was desperate. I had hoped that this would give permission to iTunes to modify what it needed to modify, but this still didn't work.
Thus, I tried to remove all traces of Apple software that related to iTunes manually. This involved the Apple files in ProgramData, Program Files\Common Files, and Program Files (x86)\Common Files. Then I tried to uninstall the list of programs related to iTunes (Bonjour, QuickTime, etc). However, Apple Software Update refused to uninstall and gave an error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program reuired for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I fear in my deletion of files, I might have deleted something necessary for this uninstall.
I downloaded multiple forced uninstallers, but none of them worked - the same message showed up constantly. I went into the registry key to see if I could manually uninstall Apple Software Update, but this didn't seem to work either. I was too afraid to delete anymore files...
So here I am again, having walked in a complete circle in this extremely complicated situation. The files I deleted in my first attempt at a solution ended up hindering a possible actual solution. Any ideas to uninstall Apple Software Update, or to solve iTunes rolling back error, or to remove the connect to iTunes screen from my iPod would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated. I can live without iTunes, but my iPod is very important to me. If anyone has a solution to remove the screen without connected to iTunes, or connecting to a different computer's iTunes, I would be willing to take that course of action too.
    Thanks!

  • IPod Recognized as a digital camera

So I have an old 8gb ipod touch, and since my old computer crashed, I have reinstalled itunes on a new computer and want to sync my ipod with my new itunes, and access it through windows,  but my computer is recognizing it as a digital camera, and i cannot do anything with it. I have used this troubleshooting page, with no results: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/ . I was wondering if there is another way to fix the problem. I do have mcaffee antivirus on my computer so that is most likely the problem.

    First try disabling Mcaffee.
    Then
    Did you do everything here:

New cable and different USB port?

  • What files do I need to download iPhone photos to a thin client (HP)? Apple Mobile Support gives 4 dll files to enable the iPhone to be detected and charged but the thin client doesn't see the camera or hard drive.

The iTunes Installation files include 4 driver dlls that I can install on a Windows thin client to enable the iPhone to be charged.
The iPhone hard drive or photos are not detected.  I guess I need scanner driver support to cope with the camera.
Can anyone tell me which files from the iTune installation set are needed.
It is not practical (or even possible?) to install the whole iTunes package.
I've seen this question asked by a lot of people but never seen an answer.
    Please, can someone help...

    Thanks for the reply.
A thin client is used to connect to a Terminal Server, or in my customer's case, a Citrix Server.  I need the thin client to see the iPhone as a camera and pass it to the Citrix Client so the photos can THEN be either stored on a network storage device, or e-mailed.
Because the thin client doesn't even SEE a camera (i.e. the iPhone) it won't be able to connect to iCloud to do anything useful.
I think the question I should be asking, is how do I give the thin client Camera Support.
I've just seen a 2008 forum comment that said the iPhone DOESN'T handle photos through iTunes, but the PC (Scanner support) or MAC (iPhoto) handles them directly.  I should be putting the question to HP.
This is still a good place for THIS question, because I've seen so many iPhone users asking it...
If I get a satisfactory answer I'll post it back here.

  • Windows 7 running PC thinks my iPod Touch is a digital camera?

Hi everyone. I've had my second generation iPod Touch for over 2 years now. I originally had it synced up with iTunes on a laptop running Windows Vista, and it worked perfectly. I then switched it to a new laptop, running Windows 7. That laptop let me transfer everything fine, and let me play, add and remove music and apps (in other words, it worked fine). Then, that laptop had some problems (the hard drive fried itself and I had to get it replaced.) When I got the laptop up and running again it was like it was a new laptop. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (10.2.2 is what I have on here now) but the laptop is recognizing my iPod as a digital camera instead. To be clear, my iPod shows up in iTunes and I can play music, but it won't let me put the music from my iPod into My Library, and it won't let me add or remove songs. I've tried updating the drivers in my Device Manager but that seems to not work. I've also changed the Autoplay settings on my iPod, but that also didn't work. Please help! I'm getting to the point where I want to chuck my iPod out the window and just buy a new one!

  • Computer sudden'y won't "see" digital camera.

    Here's what happened:
I uploaded a whole bunch of photos that had been on my camera for about a month. Immediately took two more pictures, but when I attempted to upload - was told that they were ".jpg" and couldn't be uploaded. Now iPhoto doesn't know the camera is connected, and Canon says that they don't support OS x.4 for the Canon Powershot A75.
I've rebooted, shut down etc. System Profiler doesn't see the connected camera. I use a hub - it's always worked before, but I did try to connect it directly.
Canon's website says they don't support Tiger. But that's not the issue, something weird happened here. I'm going to use only the PB (I have many peripherals) fix disk permissions and trash the preferences file next.
    Other ideas welcome.
    Thanks

Update: Some folks in this forum suggested getting a card reader to others is a similar predicament. So I bought one. Voila, the problem is solved. The reader cost about $20. I plugged it into my hub, put the card in and iPHoto immediately wanted to know if I planned to import the pictures.
    I highly recommend this solution.

  • Photoshop doesn't recognize digital camera but iPhoto does.

I want to use Photoshop with my digital camera (Canon Rebel XT).
Photoshop is CS4 and iPhoto is at version 8.1.2.
    OSX 10.6.8.
As soon as I plug-in my camera iPhoto starts, i don't want that.
I don't see my camera in Photoshop's menu in IMPORT or elsewhere.
    thanks!

    Couple of things:
    1. That's not what Photoshop does. It's not an image manager, it's a file editor. So, you can set Photoshop to start when you connect your camera but it will stat and nothing will happen.
    2. You need to decide how you want to manage your photos. You can do this with iPhoto, the Finder or something else. Which ever you decide let us know and we can help you set that up.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize digital camera

I just upgraded to Leopard and now iPhoto won't recognize my Casio Exilim Z750 camera. The device actually shows up in iPhoto but it won't show the contents of the camera in order for me to download them to my system. The camera also shows up in my Finder but I'm unable to access the contents. Furthermore, I'm unable to Eject the camera and am forced to unplug it without ejecting. Not sure if I need to purchase a card reader or if I need to update the driver. I searched the Casio website and they don't have a new driver for the camera. Any suggestions?

NOTHING recognized my Canon SD700IS digital camera when I upgraded to Leopard... not iPhoto6... not Image Capture... not even the supplied Canon utilities. I hadn't changed any settings on anything... camera or computer... the only difference was that I installed Leopard. Then... thanks to this thread... I thought to check system profiler... and nope... not even seen there. So I tried moving my USB cord from my 7 port USB 2.0 hub to a port directly in the back of my iMac. That solved the problem. Kind of annoying since it worked fine under Tiger.
