IPod doesn't show up in My Computer/iTunes

I tried the Driver thing with updating even deleting and reinstalling still it doesn't show up in My Computer or iTunes.
I did show up like a week ago but then it said it needed a restore or something but now if I plug it in I hear the sound a device is plugin but nothing happens if I open iTunes I don't see the iPod.
I also tried resetting didn't work either
The iPod itself still works listening to music on it everyday but I want it to work in iTunes because I want to put new music on it.
Please someone help me

Have you tried these pages:
*[iPod Missing in My Computer or iTunes for Windows|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369]*
*[Ipod not recognized properly|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538]*
If you can't see the ipod in disk management or the device manager, before you connect the ipod, open itunes, select edit/preferences, leave this window open and click on show desktop. This will make itunes busy. Then connect the ipod, and try the above help pages.

  • My iPod doesn't show up on "My Computer" or iTunes and it doesn't sync or charge. Help please?

I have an iPod Classic, the 2nd most recent version. I havn't had problems with it until a week ago. Before I had the new iTunes update, a week ago, it wouldn't show up in my Device's or "My Computer"  , wont sync and It wouldn't charge either. I thought to myself "Maybe I should update my iTunes, maybe thats why it's not working". I updated my iTunes library to the most recent software last night thinking it would help but... It didn't help at all and made things much more complicated. I don't like how the new iTunes navigates and the iTunes Helper isn't there now. I'm still facing the problem where it doesn't show up in iTunes AND it doesn't show up on "My Computer" AND still doesn'tt sync but the thing thats different is that it'll charge a quarter bit and say it's done, or it wont charge at all and stay on my home screen. I need help here. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If it does not even turn on
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod doesn't show up anywhere, freezes anything related

    I have a 5G 30gb (video) ipod.
I recently had a problem with my laptop and had my motherboard replaced and now my ipod will not show up on my computer:
    - itunes freezes as soon as the ipod is plugged in
    - double-clicking on My Computer freezes that window
    - same problem as above when I try to open Disk Management
Basically any window/program that has to do with reading the ipod freezes and stops working when i plug in the ipod, but goes back to normal the instant i unplug the ipod.
As well, this has happened a few times: the second I unplug the Ipod from my computer, a message pops up saying that the ipod isnt formatted for windows and needs to be restored. First of all it was formatted for windows, and secondly I can't restore it since the message only pops up after i unplug the ipod.
Any suggestions would help as even though I can still use my ipod, eventually I will want it to connect to my laptop so that I can play around with whats on it.
    Thanks

An additional note, this is the second time that I've had the motherboard replaced (Toshiba problem) while using this ipod but I had no problems whatsoever the first time. The only difference since then that I think is relevant is the upgrade to itunes 7.x
If anything, I'd like to know how to restore my ipod and see if that sorts things out, although I'd rather not of course.
    Thanks again

  • IPod Doesn't Show Up in iTunes or My Computer, But Says It's Connected

I'm running Windows Vista (something I highly regret ever getting), and I was given a new iPod by a friend, and since it was a different iPod than I used before, Vista kept popping a window up when I connected it asking if I wanted to download a driver. It had three options, I think, to browse for the driver, look later, or never ask again. Normally I would click the first two, and the iPod would show up in iTunes still (and the iPod doesn't even need a driver). The last time, I accidentally clicked for it to not ask again, and now the iPod doesn't show up in either My Computer or iTunes.
I really, REALLY hate this computer. Vista has caused nothing but problems, I tell ya. It's always one thing after another.

  • Ipod doesn't show in itunes, vista installed, also, thinks it's syncing...

I really don't know what to put for a subject! Itunes and my ipod shuffle ran perfectly under Windows XP. I have a LOT of music successfully loaded (from itunes purchases and my own cds) on the 'pod. It plays fine. Problem is, computer bit the dust. I decided to upgrade to Vista instead of reloading XP (couldn't find the **** CDs to reinstall XP). Now, my ipod doesn't show up in itunes and I get that **** "ipod is synced with another library.. do you want to erase this ipod and sync with "this" itunes lib." box. "This" itunes library consists only of songs I've purchased from itunes.... none of the cd music is there. and the only option that itunes seems to be giving me is to blow away what's on my 'pod now and install the tiny library of itunes purchases. The wierd thing is, it's all on the same **** computer... just the OS changed (from XP to Vista).
What I WAMT to do is somehow get itunes to see my 'pod and copy the music that's on my pod back into itunes where it all came from in the first place and put my latest itunes purchases (since changing OS's) on my 'pod. Jeeze. sounds so simple. Unbelieveable.
    tk
    TIA for any help.
HP Pavilion 523n   Other OS   running Vista

In iTunes, go to the File Menu and select the 'Add to Library' option.
In the window that appears navigate to the folder that has all the music from the old version of iTunes (i.e. where the music is currently stored on your computer), and select the folder.
This should then add all the music back into your iTunes (it may make a copy)
You will now be able to connect your iPod and let it sync to the computer.

Ipod doesn't show all the songs listed in Itunes even after sync is complete

I'm going through the same thing, I've tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my computer and that seems to help. I haven't gotten all my songs back yet, but I've got about 75% of it back.

  • Artwork on ipod but doesn't show up when synced to itunes

I have a first gen. touch and I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes onto a new computer running Windows 7. Everything is working fine expect that when the touch is synced the artwork on the ipod doesn't show up in the itunes display window. The artwork in my itunes library displays, the artwork is displayed when using the touch...but itunes won't show any of the touch artwork in the artwork window. In other words all the artwork is there but itunes won't display it when ipod is synced.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Happened after I tried activating iTunes Match (not sure if it's related though).

iTunes never displays the iPod in the left pane?
iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
    1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Manage"
    4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
    +Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
    5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
    6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
    7. Close "Computer Management"
    8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
    9. Reconnect your iPod.

You cannot update it if you can't get the latest version of iTunes. Actually, the latest version of iTunes will run in XP if you have Service Pack 2. Also, you posted in the iPad forum, and your profile shows you have an iPad, but in your post, you say it is an iPod. Is it an iPad or an iPod?

  • WiFi ON/OFF button Doen't Work, the IPod doesn't show the on/off button in the Settings- General - WiFi

After My IPod Touch 4th Geneartion was broken I had to fix the screen, which cost me a lot, after a perfect restore through the ITunes I went to connect to my IPod to the WiFi network then the WiFi ON/OFF button Doen't Work, the IPod doesn't show the on/off button in the Settings-> General -> WiFi.
And another problem I encountered during this operation was that the Games I downloaded through the ITunes doesn't work, when I click on the icon ( Game Icon) it starts an then closes in a few seconds

    See:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
