IPod doesnt start

Hey
So I was updating my iPod and all that worked but @ the end on the iPod updater it said 'can't unmount iPod' and from there on my iPod will not start. Please tell me what to do. I have tried the support steps that are included online. Tried attaching it to the wall charger and restarting it...I have tried everything I know...I just don't want to sent it in for service cause i will lose all my songs. Please help me ASAP. Thanks

If you've tried restoring the software and resetting by holding the menu plus the select button and all that other stuff, I have bad news for you.
You're screwed.
This is why people are told not to store songs on an iPod. It's a music "player" not a music "storage device."
Sorry, I don't mean to be rude and if you're offended then I don't mean to be offensive. It's just that too many people think the iPod is a place to store their music. I have a best friend who does the same thing. I tried explaining this to him and he smirked. Oh well.
Sorry, my friend, but you need to send it for service if you can't get it to reboot. It happens. It happened to me. The good news is that AppleCare got it back fast.

  • My ipod doesnt start on when off the charge and wont come on when i plug it into the computer, now it has the iTunes icon and says to plug it into that, but i cant cause it wont turn onto my computer. How do i get my pictures back?

So, my ipod will not stay on, when I take it off the charger it just goes dead. I cannot plug it into the computer and have it go on; I guess it doesn't have enough power for the battery. But, just the other day, I unplugged my ipod (went dead) plugged it back into my kitchen and now it goes on but an ITunes icon pops up and says for it to be plugged into it, but like I said it doesn't work on the computer. So, now I lost all my pictures but I was wondering how I can get them back? Or get rid of the Itune icon to actually get back on my ipod?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my ipod doesnt pop up on itunes since yesterday i been tryin to put new songs but i cant cause it dont pop please someone help

When you connect your iPod to your computer, is it flashing the Do Not Disconnect symbol?
If it is, try the steps in the articles I posted above, if you haven't already.
    If it's not...
First, try a different USB port. If you're still having the same problem, try a different USB cable.
Let us know if you're getting any error messages when you plug in the iPod.
If you're on a desktop computer, sometimes it helps to have the iPod connected directly to a USB on the BACK of the computer tower. So, if you're connecting your iPod to a USB on the monitor, or on the keyboard, or the front of the tower, try a port on the back. Also, if you're connecting the iPod through a hub, skip the hub and connect DIRECTLY to a port on the computer.
If you've done all this and it still isn't working, let's see if the iPod shows up in the Device Manager.
Click on Start, right click on My Computer, click on Manage.
In the left-hand column click on Device Manager
Does anything in there represent your iPod? Does it have a yellow triangular warning symbol on it? (Note that you may want to check under Disk Drives and Universal Serial Bus controllers if you don't see it).
If you're seeing something that indicates it is the iPod (you can double click on them to see more info) double click on it and choose the option to uninstall the device. Then, restart the computer with the iPod attached and let it go through the normal process of installing new hardware. Then see if you can get iTunes to recognize it.

  • When i connect my ipod doesnt  show up  or change on computer. but.........

when i connect my ipod doent show up or change on computer, but it doesnt start to charge on a wall charger

Replace the USB cable, or plugged to another USB port.
I think that's because the USB cable or the USB port on your computer doesn't work.

  • HT4623 my ipod doesnt let me download any kind of music downloader it keeps on saying this app requires ios something.

my ipod doesnt let me download any kind of music downloader or any thing like subway surfer games it keeps on saying something like this app needs ios something.

Then your ipod would need ios something in order to use the apps.
If your iphone is compatible then update the ios version.  Otherwise, you cannot use the apps.

I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

  • My ipod touch 4g is not being recognised on my new toshiba laptop. The ipod touch starts charging then stops. This keeps continuing. Please help.

my ipod touch 4g is not being recognised on my new toshiba laptop or itunes. Its not being shown on my computer and its not shown as 'unspecified' in the 'devices window'. The ipod touch starts charging then stops this keeps continuing like a ongoing circle. Please help.
I have tried on my family members laptop and its seems to be picking up. So the ipod or the usb wire is not the issue.
I have tried everything from reinstalling itunes and updating windows.
I have tried the diagnostics test and its still says the ipod cannot be found.

    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

If you have a external USB enclosure - trying installing your hard drive in that enclosure and connect it to your usb port - restart your macbook while holding down the options key.  If you Macbook boots to your desktop then you have a faulty cable.  If you get the same error, then your hard drive just died on you.
    good luck.

  • I have an ipod touch 8gb model number MA623LL. How do I install apps on my ipod? Is it capable of transferring/running apps? Why doesn't my ipod touch have the basic-beginning app on the beginning screen after i erased/wiped my ipod and started new?

Googling shows that you have the 1G iPod.  For apps you need at least iOS 2. The iG can go as far os 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Just be aware that there are presently not that many apps that work with a 1G with iOS 3.1.3

I recently went to: settings, general, reset, and erase all data and settings, now my ipod wont start and itunes wont recodnize it, what happened and how do i fix it?

    - After being connected to a charging source for half an hour, reset the iPod and then connect to your computer and it if appears in iTunes restore the iPod via iTunes.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
