Ipod doesnt turn on?

i connected my i pod to the computer when i was installing the itunes and it started to get hot and the lcd display slowly faded and turned off, and doesnt turn back on. tried to charge it and nothing happened, i also tried to reconnected to the computer and nothing happened.

A common problem which could have resulted in this, is a power spike going through the USB port to the iPod.
When iTunes looks for a connected iPod during installation, it could happen that a power spike occurs.
That is why you are advised not to connect your iPod when installing or updating iTunes. It says so in the manual.
Apple used to have a lot of those problems with previous iPod moddels and thus added that advice in the manual to cover their ***** when it happens again.
Good luck with your iPod!

  • IPod doesnt turn off

My iPod doesn't turn off, it does go into sleep mode, but that still drains my battery. Perhaps because of this, I only get about 6 hours of battery life. I have tried Holding Play/Pause, as friends of mine have theirs turn off, I have tried reseting several times, I have tried any and every update I can find. And as far as I have been able to tell, the Support site has no idea that this is a problem and because of that I cannot get service for it.

Try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restoring.
If not succesfull, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.

Ok, at least I'm not alone. I was just on my 4th generation 32g itouch, I put it down for 15 seconds, and now the **** thing won't turn on. The battery was fully charged, it's never been dropped or mistreated, and I've had it since Dec 20. What the **** is going on? This was an upgrade from the 3rd generation yet I never had any problems. Apple help us, you get us addicted to these things like they are an extra limb we can't live without. And then it goes kaput. Can ANYONE HELP ME, US?

  • What do I do when my ipod doesnt turn on?

What do I do when my Ipod Touch doesn't turn on? It was on charge all day when i was at school, when i came home it wouldn't turn on. What should i do?

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What happened when my ipod doesnt turn on and its just the apple sign on the screen ?

What happened when i pluged up my ipod and only the apple sign comes up on it , what is going on ?

Have you tried a hard reset yet to see if that does any good? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Try this more than once if necessary.
Otherwise, try connecting it to your iTunes library in Recovery Mode and restoring it.  See this article for instructions on getting your iPod into Recovery mode.

Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
