Ipod doesnt update

i know ipods 4th cant update higher than 6.1.3 but wheni update it says updating 6.1.5 and then stops,
It says lost connection and error.
why doesnt it update?? why does it say 6.1.5??
i tried mines and my dads
my dads says update ios 4 but it doesnt update at all
mine says update ios 6.1.5 and it dosnt update either, but mine is jailbroken so i dont really expect it becuase you can fix jailbroken stuff can you?

2nd iPod doesnt update when connected to iTunes

I have 2 iPod Nano's 2nd Gen. When I connect the first one itunes updates then shows the message "iPod update is complete. OK to disconnect." Then the iPod disply shows the charging icon. When I connect the second nano it does not try to update. It shows do not disconnect in the iPod display. It shows that it is connected in Devices. I tried restore but still get the same problem. I looked around but couldnt find any solutions. Any help would be appreciated.

Ipod doesnt update at all!

when i update my ipod it always stops after 1-2 hours of downloading.
I have no idea whats going on, i try mines and my dads; the same thing.
I dont think mine will ever update becuase my dumbbutt tried to jailbreak it and now its forever messed up but my dads isnt and it doesnt even update with his.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.

Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
- Then try on another computer

i have the ipod video. it was workin fine but suddenly i tried to upload pictures but it says that a file its missing a file and cant update. i tried to restore it but then i couldnt upload music. then i reinstalled everything and it uploads music but it cant upload pictures. the way i upload is threw itunes. i right click then go ipod options then pictures. am i doing something wrong? please help.

AppleRoshan, just want are you saying? The wifi update (setting.General>Software Update) ws first introduced in iOS 5.

1st gen ipod touch. updated apps dont work.

i recently updated my applications and games on my ipod touch first generation. i was aware the update was for 4.0 ipod touchs but it had other in game updates as well. but when i tried to open the app it stayed open for about 3 seconds had the logo of the game manufacturer then crashed. i tried rebooting, reseting(by holding home and power button) and turning off and on. i think they wont workl because it is for 4.0 and my ipod doesnt even aknoledge that there is a new software update for it on itunes(YES I HAVE THE NEWEST ITUNES AVALAIBLE). i find this ridiculous because i payed good money and to have it gone?

IPod Software Update failed with iTunes 7

Just installed iTunes 7 and after connecting to my iPod it wanted me to update to firmware 1.2 but everytime I click on download it fails.
"iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet."
That is very funny because without the internt iTunes wouldn't even be able to get the information that an update is available....
So the diagnosis doesnt help anything either but I am posting it, maybe somebody has a idea:

I just downloaded itunes 7 and connected my 60gb ipod. It updated songs and offered me the chance to get CD covers, which i did successfully. It the offered me Ipod updater 1.2 which i said yes to but it then informs me that it could not complete as ipod already in use by another application!!! I tried to reset but with the same result...help please

IPod software update?

Okay so this is my second iPod for this Windows computer, when I plug it in it says "iTunes cannot read the contents of 'ALEX'S IPOD'. Use the iPod Software Updater application to restore to iPod to factory setting."
So i DLed and ran the iPod Software Updater and restarted my computer, re-installed iTunes and restarted my computer. Nothing has worked, any suggestions or help would be most appreciated.

I dont think he even got that far. He just downloaded and installed it. It doesnt sound that the OP actually used the updater.
The fifth gens do not have any firmware updates yet...

Why Itunes doesnt update automaticaly the apps?
after updating from Ipad and Iphone, I "transfer purchases" to my itunes. I click SYNC but nothing. If I go to check the app windows, some of them shows UPDATE status?? I have to click individually each app??? really??
Is there a good alternative (PC friendly) to Itunes? I cant stand this software anymore

If you iPod is 8 or 16 GB it is really a 2G iPod and those can only go to 4.2.1. A 32 GB one can be either a 2G or 3G. To identify yours see:

ok my ipod doesnt work. it doesnt show up on my computer neither on my itunes and on my ipod it show a plug going into a wall jack. i have tried reseting it what is wrong with my ipod? i have done everything that it has said on the apple website can any one help me?

I think that I read that the wall charging icon means the iPod has to be plugged in to update its firmware. My 4G (13 months old) did the same thing. I bought the extended warranty and sent it back to apple. They replaced it with a nonfunctioning iPod. I am sending it back as well.
