IPod driving me bonkers
I have a 60 GB video iPod. It randomly refuses to play once it's come back from a sleep state. The only way to get it to play is to reboot. The other day I had to do this 6 times through the course of a day. Apple swapped it out for me at the store and now...the same thing.
***? Is it iTunes then? I haven't anything weird on here.
This is really driving me mad...please help if you can.
Thanks

Hi there,
what exactely do you mean with 'refuses to play' ?
Do you mean: The trackinfo is shown, the play icon is shown, but the time stays at 0:00 and it just doesn't start ?
This is a SW-bug and happens always if the Ipod goes into sleep-mode without Headphones connected and wakes up again with them connected (or vice versa - can't remember 100% shure which way it was).

Hi guys,
I just bought an iPod Mini the other day & it's seriously driving me nuts. The click wheel isn't working! I can press the buttons but I can't scroll. I've tried resetting it by toggling the hold switch & pressing Menu & Select but it won't restart either. Other than that it's working fine. Anybody got any other ideas on how I can fix it??
Overview : Click wheel not workin & can't reset
I've also restored it back to the factory settings & it's still not made any difference!
HELP!
Marianne
xxxxxxxxxAre you sure you're holding the MENU and SELECT buttons for long enough? It may take ten seconds or so to reset. It may take several attempts and is best performed while connected to power.
Also, when you say "I've also restored it back to the factory settings & it's still not made any difference!", is this what you tried?

NEW IPOD DRIVING ME NUTS!
I just got an IPOD today, 30GB video, and I have had nothing but problems. First, my comp recognizes it just fine, and as I am in the process of transferring files it says the IPOD is corrupt and to disconnect it. So I do that, then the screen on the ipod freezes, so it takes me about 30 mins to reset it. Now I fixed that problem, but I plug it into my comp and its not recognized by itunes or windows explorer? Did the cord mysteriously self-destruct? Any ideas?
ok, so your ipod is not being recognized by itunes or windows. rather than jumping to conclusions about the ipod being the problem try this. setup the ipod on a different computer. if the ipod works fine on a second computer than it is your first computer with an issue and that could be any multitude of things on the computer that could be conflicting with the ipod.
Here is an outline of steps to try: (make sure you are running the latest service pack 2 on windows xp)
1. first on the same computer try disabling the windows windows startup items (i have had instances where spyware does not allow itunes to communicate to the ipod and if after disabling the windows startup items the ipod works, then one of thosse startup items is the culprit, in which case you must isolate it and disable it)
2. if step one fails than try a second computer that meets the minimum system requirements.
hope this helps.

Date and Time and others not working after 10.5.6- its driving me bonkers
Recently, after booting my computer and logging in (I am the sole user and it auto logs in).
Well only 3 things show up in the upper right menu bar:
Spotlight, and two 3rd party items, I added (connect360 and bootchamp)
But airport and Date and Time do not sow up at all. When I go to System preferences I see that things are all screwed up: the box that says "show date and time in menu bar" is always unchecked. If I recheck it will revert the next time I open up the preference pane. Another odd this is it that it lets me click the boxes even when the padlock is locked.
Now, I can log out and then log back in, and it loads everything correctly. But really its stuff like this that drives me bonkers. Anyone have a similar problem or a solution?
I am going to try and disable auto-login and see if it works the first time when I login. If it works it will be better than right now but, it will still irritate me.
Thanks in advanceYou might try moving the apple.com.systempreferences.plist (in the Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences folder) to the desktop and restarting or log-out/log-in.
If it doesn’t help, you can move the .plist file back into the Preferences folder, replacing the new one it created to restore your original settings. -
In the past few weeks, my 80GB 6th gen iPod has been acting up. If I choose some songs, my selection comes up on the screen but you can feel something inside it spinning. After up to 10secs, the iPod gives up and moves to the next song.
So I got fed up and restored it. I have 2300 songs that need to be sync'd. It's now on song 31 after nearly half an hour of sync'ing. It took nearly 2 minutes just go since the 30th song.
What is going on? This iPod is less than a year old, I bought it in August so what could the problem be? This is really doing my head in.
Any help appreciated, thanks

My iPod works fine, so does the car radio. The instructions say to tune to an unused frequency, or one that is not broadcasting, but the radio tuner doesn't allow me to do that - it just goes to stations that are broadcasting.
I tried using a station with a weak signal, and the transmitter works, but is static-y and at times the station breaks through the music.

Battery Beeping!?!?!?! Driving me bonkers!
I called Fios last week because my battery light came on and is now beeping. $40 for a freaking stupid battery!?!?!?! I ordered a bettery on line but it won't be here until Thursday. The tech said I could disconnect it, tried that, it didn't work. the tech also said to pressed the Battery silence button for 20 seconds, that didn't work, the beeping returned. My question is, WHICH WIRE IS THE SPEAKER WIRE? I want to cut it!
I would just replace the battery, For the amount of trouble it's giving you, if you could fix it for 20 bux would that be worth it? For me it is. I get them from amazon when I need one.

Project keeps crashing, driving me bonkers
Hi, i have a project that keeps crashing — it started as i was trying to bounce a track and now it happens pretty much constantly, but only in this specific project as far as i can tell. i've tried importing the tracks to new project without any luck. i'm running the latest version of logic and os x, not using any 3rd party plugins and my computer is only about 4 months. this is the message i keep getting (sorry, long):

My Droid Bionic is driving me bonkers!
My phone keeps freezing and rebooting. When it isn't doing that I get error messages all the time. Homescreen stopped working, would you like to stop. Android has stopped working, would you like to stop. Maps just pops up out of nowhere that is has quit working. I have cleared the cache and I eventually did a factory reset and did not reinstall 99% of apps I had. Nothing works. I can't even answer the phone when someone calls because it takes so long for the swipe to be accepted it goes to voicemail. Any suggestions? I am not due for an upgrade until May.
Have you done a cache wipe? It will clear it up immediately and safely. It is pretty easy to do as well.
Turn the phone off
press the volume up and down buttons and the power button
use down volume to select recovery mode
press up volume to move the phone into recovery mode
you will see an android laying down with its hatch open
Press volume up and down buttons again (may need to press a few times)
use down volume button to go to wipe cache partition
hit the power button
When is says Cache wipe complete hit the power button again to reboot
ALL of your apps and data will remain and NOT be touched. You phone will work faster, be more responsive and nicer to use.
DO NOT LET ANYONE TALK YOU INTO DOING A FDR (Factory Data Reset) as it will actually be counter productive for you -
How do I add music to my iPod from a shared library?
This used to be simple. Now with the new iTunes it is driving me bonkers. My music library is on my old G4. I share that music with my Macpro laptop. I used to move a song to my laptop library. Then I could drag it to my ipod.
My new iPOd touch needed the new iTunes. I upgraded the laptop. Now I can view/play my shared library. I can't drag music to the library of my laptop though.
HELP. What is the workaround? Thanks for the info...sounds like it might work. So just to clarify because I am NOT a computer whiz...by changing the setting it will keep my old downloads on my ipod and now I can download new music with my new computer and add them to my ipod. My old stuff will not be lost. When I was on my new computer there was a button that said, "On this ipod"...I could see all of my old music, but wasn't able to make new playlists or manage them in any way. Will I be able to manage them? Or will they be "frozen" so to speak?
Also, where do I look for this setting?
Thanks so much for your time! -
Ipod Installer not allowing download
9 times out of ten, my ipod is not recognized by my Mac. I am now attempting to restore the ipod, and have downloaded the most recent version of the ipod installer. On the screen entitled "Installation Type" I am not allowed to choose the installer. It tells me:
"You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."
I have erased and redownloaded the installer to see if it was a bad download, but keep having the same problem. If anyone has any idea why this continues to occur, please let me know.

T410 palmrest creaking driving me insane
Hi all,
Is anyone else experiencing this creaking issue on the left side of the Thinkpad T410 palmrest? Every time I type something and I set my palm on the palmrest it makes this creaking sound that is driving me bonkers. Any ideas what's causing it and how to fix it?
Thanks,
OrenHi Oren,
YES. Bought mine just three weeks ago and were also suffering of the creaking sound. I was very disappointed about this low quality.
But at the other hand I like the notebook. Good performance, nice keyboard, not really heavy, however the display is so-so. Finally I decided to keep it.
I was in the shop where I bought this laptop and found the other ones without creaking sound. Maybe I got a one; in Germany we called it: “Montagsgerät”.
Anyhow I had to make a decision: Either I send the laptop to Lenovo service or do it yourself. Hardware maintenance manual and even videos you can find on Lenovo site. I know opening the laptop is touching warranty.
But in the German thinkpad forum I have read so many dreadful things about the superior Lenovo service and their skilful service stuff I thought it over.
Anyhow, I repaired a lot of notebooks of my friends even without any manual.
I did it!
Opening was not a big deal. Removing screws is simple. Removing the keyboard was easy as well. But the assembly of the palmrest of the T410 is pretty tricky. Not that easy as the older thinkpads. That’s why it isn’t a CRU anymore!
I was sweating a bit. You just need some more force as usual. Don’t be scared The material is amazing flexible.
But I hadn’t to remove the palmrest completely. I lifted just the front edge of the palmrest and put some thin rubber tape between palmrest and lower plastic frame. The sound came from rasping plastic onto plastic.
Now, I have no creaking sound anymore. Very relaxing …
That’s my story. I know it isn’t anybodies case. If you are hesitating to do it by yourself send it definitely to Lenovo. It is a quality lack!!!
Hope I could help a bit.
Regards from old Germany.

Slow wifi connection - going crazy trying to figure it out. Sadface.
Howdy,
I read through the forum and tried to find a solution to this problem but everyone seems to be experiencing differences in what is wrong with their problem and I have yet to find a solution to mind.
Problem:
Recently I've noticed my wifi connection has been slow. Slow as in Firefox will sit at "Looking up..." or "Transferring data from..." and just sit there for a few minutes then idle out, stop loading the page or give me an error stating that the server is too busy, or cannot be found. A manual refresh will either restart the process or go immediately to the site. To describe the slowness in another way as if someone is downloading something on the network that causes it to lag. I verified that my computer is not the problem (all downloads offline).
I've made no changes (except for one, stated below) to my network preferences, my router or anything. I haven't recently installed anything on here that would interfere with my network settings either.
Failed solutions:
- Resetting/Restarting my computer, the router and the cable modem.
- Turning Airport on and off, even switching to a different wireless signal in the house (We have DSL and Cable, don't ask) and I get the same results from both connections.
- OpenDNS. It solved one problem temporarily (one server seemed to be offline when in reality it was not, OpenDNS let me go there again but the speed issue remains.)
- Software Update -- Everything is updated.
Also note that my signal strength is full all the time. It will occasionally dip down but that's nothing as the router is in a room beside mine.
My Linksys Wireless G with Speedboost router is secured with WPA and the Mac filtering enabled to only allow this laptop, my iPod Touch and my Nintendo DS access. Could this security be compromised and someone jacking my signal?
I'm at wit's end here. I've usually been able to find my solutions for these problems on a wired Windows computer but this Wifi stuff on my Mac is driving me bonkers. To me everything seems to be green but I know somewhere there is a problem.
If I did miss an important thread, please point me in the direction of it and I'll remove this topic.
Here's hoping this thing will post without timing out.
EDIT Further searching shows me this is a common problem. I guess that's a good thing.

I'm wondering if this could be MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) related (i.e. packet size) some ISP's can be quite picky about this ...
Apple have an article on setting it for 10.2 (but not for 10.4) here:

Mail keeps rejecting my password - no email access for 4 days :-(0
I have not been able to receive or send any mails from my mac or ipod touch. When I get onto the icloud. site I can see that my mails are coming through so it seems to be a port/server problem with mail settings.
Have tried every trick posted online - deleted old account and set it up again, changed port settings to 993 and reconfigured for imap.
Nothing is working.
Is anyone else having these problems? It's driving me bonkers. Thanks for your input Csound but it's still not working ... argh!
I have changed password for extra strength and also done all the settings you mentioned. Still showing up as a greyed-out account in my mail program that can't go online.
This is how I have the account prefences set up:

I just bought an iphone 3gs 16gb from a friend. He has bought the apple care from AT&T for the iphone before selling the iphone to me. The apple care is up to October, 2011. I have asked apple how to transfer the apple care under my name. Apple said
