Ipod earphones malfunctioning - playing at different volumes

A few days ago i confirmed my suspicions that my ipod earphones were faulty. Basically, whilst playing music on my ipod, it can be clearly heard that the right earpiece plays music at a louder volume than the left earpiece.
These are the ipod earphones which came with my ipod. I tested them on my computer, got another person to listen (to make sure it wasnt just my ears) and the same problem occurred.
Im pretty sure they have always been like this, as when i first got them and listened to music they sounded abit weird but i shrugged it off as a first use thing.
I bought my ipod nano 4G early this year, around the end of february. So ive only had them for approximately 6.5 months.
Am i eligible to recieve a new set of earphones or get them fixed?
Default warranty for ipod lasts one year.

Send it back to Apple, I believe they will replace you with a new one ..

  • Video inserted into slide containing audio playing at different volumes

    I have inserted a video into a Captivate 5 project that has audio on most slides. When I publish and play the project, the video plays at a much lower volume than the rest of the project.  Is there a way to even out the volume between inserted videos and the rest of the project?

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
    Are you working on a MAC or Windows computer ?
    What type of video you are inserting in your project ?
    Is that a slide video ?
    What is the exact version of Adobe Captivate you have ? (Help -> About Adobe Captivate)
    What are you publishing ? (SWF or a different output) ?
    If SWF, did you try different browsers ?
    Thanks,

  • Songs play back in different volume levels

    Some of my songs play back in different volume levels. How does one make the songs play back in the same volume. I know there's some setting you enable in itunes, but it's always enabled on my system. So why doesn't it work?

    I know there's some setting you enable in itunes,
    Do you know what this "some setting" is?
    In iTunes, go to menu Edit -> Prefs - Playback.
    Tick Soundcheck.
    On the iPod, go to Setting Soundcheck and set to On.
    Resync the iPod.
    Note that Soundcheck is not foolproof and there may be some variances on the levels between songs.
    You can use this application -> MP3Gain
    to better analyze and adjust the levels of your songs.

  • Ipod plays a different file (audiobook) from the one selected.

    I have a mystery. let me start by saying i have done all the standard stuff all the way up to wiping and reinstalling the ipod.
    I have about 8 audio books (short stories for the kids to listen to) and when I select one to play it always plays a different audio book from the one I select. it happens to all the audio books. It never happens to music and never happens when I play the file through a different directory than the audio book directory (i.e. go to the artist's listing and select the author's name).
    So weird - I can work around it but would love a solution so the kids can pick books to listen to themselves.
    any ideas?

    Yes...but do I do that in the TableModelListener ?
    This is what I've tried in the TableModelListener:
    public void tableChanged(TableModelEvent e)
             System.out.println(e.getSource());
               if(e.getType() == TableModelEvent.UPDATE)
                    TableModel model = stdTablewCombo.getModel();
                    int row = e.getFirstRow();
                    this.cellValue = ((String)model.getValueAt(row, 0));
                    if (cellValue != null)
                         this.selectedIndex = this.stdComboBox.getSelectedIndex();
                          System.out.println("Selected Index:" + this.selectedIndex);
                          if (this.selectedIndex >= 0)
                             String valueToSet = this.lovStringB[this.selectedIndex];
                             model.setValueAt(valueToSet, row, 0);
                          else
                               System.out.println("Value in cell is not from List");
                          }It returns the selectedIndex value allright.
    It sets the value of valueToSet string allright.
    it also does the model.setValueAt allright....but this triggers a tableChanged event and it goes back up - this is also fine. However, when it now comes back to the this.selectedIndex = , this again returns the index of the original selection and not a -1 (for values not in the ComboBox list). This makes it go into an infinite loop and gives me a StackOverflowError.

  • Recently played list different on iTunes and iPod touch

    So I recently got an iPod touch (8GB) and when I sync it to my iTunes (9.0.2.25) every other playlist downloads fine, except for my "Recently Added" and "top 30 most played" playlists. What I mean is the list of songs in those playlists is fine on iTunes, but on the iPod touch it is a different list of songs under those playlist titles.
    Anyone help?

    Yeah, it's kind of frustrating. What to do when you start from scratch and the problem still persists?
    I've never run into that on a Mac for example. If you reformat and rebuild something it usually handles every situation. Here it's isolated to a couple Smart Playlists, not every Smart Playlist. Unless there's something inherently askew with the OS upgrade and a Most Played & Recently Played list.
    I'm going to have to try another User forum to see if it's common or known buggy. I'll keep you posted if I learn anything.

  • Ipod won't play video/podcasts or audio only a black screen with the play symbol and volume/progress bar. games work fine! any ideas?

    Ipod video classic 5th gen won't play video/podcasts or audio only a black screen with the play symbol and volume/progress bar. games work fine! any ideas?

    Here's some more info.
    I tried installing the latest iTunes to my housemate's PC, logging into iTMS with my account, authorizing his machine to play my content, restoring my iPod to the factory settings, downloading the videos and copying them to my iPod.
    It worked fine, and I can play my videos.
    I have done the exact SAME thing on my own home PC twice, after completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and the Apple Software Updater. But I still can't get any videos downloaded on my home PC to play on my iPods.
    Any thoughts?

    Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

    - Try inserting and removing the headphone plug a dozen or so times.
    - Next try a reset. Nothing is lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
    If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem, like a bad headphone jack.

  • How do I fix my ipod when it skips songs,doesn't play song,or plays a different song than requested?

    My ipod started messing up ever since i downloaded the ios 5. Everytime i request a song it will skip the song and pick a random song, not play the song at all sorta like it's frozen in that spot until i fix it, or i will click on a song and it will play a different song all together but with the title song that i chose. i'd really apprieciate the help. Thanks so much,
    Hannah

    When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see this icon displayed.
    It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
    You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.
    Or you can try this.
    No power adaptor? Try this.
    Other than that, your iPod cannot be used until you complete this process.

  • Used ipod as a drive to copy songs into new itunes on new computer. Some songs do play in entirety, las minute cuts off with nothing plyaing, or it suddenly starts playing a different song. "TIme" shown is correct in the file.

    Used ipod as a drive to copy songs into new itunes on new computer. Some songs do play in entirety, last 30 seconds to minute cuts off with nothing plyaing, or it suddenly starts playing a different song. "TIme" shown is correct in the file. Any way to fix this?

    I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
    My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • Repaired screen and now iPod won't play

    I replaced the broken LCD screen in my son's 1st gen black nano. It looks beautiful! There is a problem with the ipod now though. The iPod won't play. Everything works perfectly...screen is bright and beautiful, click wheel works to move through all menus, change volume, etc. You can choose a song, but the song won't play. The little triangle that stands for play is in the top left corner like it wants to play, but the status bar that tells you how long the song is doesn't move at all. You can fast forward through the song manually, but it won't play.
    I have reset the ipod by toggling the hold button and pressing the select and menu choices from the click wheel. I have done the 5 R's that Apple suggests. I have even restored it to original facotry settings. iTunes can see it and re-downloaded all of the music onto it. All of the software on the computer is updated and the ipod software has been updated. Everything works fine except it won't play!
    When I had the iPod open and was working on it, there were 2 ribbon cables that needed to be connected, 1 was the click wheel cable and 1 was the LCD screen cable. I have attached those securely and both are working properly except for the matter that it won't play songs. There was 1 other flat copper cable that seems to be glued to the click wheel that I didn't see in any of the pictures in the repair manual. It's not a ribbon cable. One end is still glued to the click wheel, but the other end is loose. This is probably the problem. I don't remember disconnecting this during the repair, although I know it had to be connected somewhere. I reaches up close to where the earphone jack is. Does anyone have any idea where this flat copper cable is supposed to be connected? I would appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks!

    Here is the URL for the picture of the copper cable. The dark part at the end of the copper cable is a piece of silver metal mesh that is glued on one side of the copper cable. You can see that it is glued at the other end to the back of the click wheel underneath where the battery was glued down. I vaguely remember that it was connected to something else, but I don't remember disconnecting it because I was so intent on getting the ribbon cables disconnected without damaging them.

    Hi,
    This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802#acoustic provides tips that will resolve most hardware issues. One of the tips it provides is checking the iPhone's headphone jack for debris. You can try connecting and disconnecting the headphones a few times to remove lint or anything else that might be down there.
    If the issue persists with some headphones but not others, the headphones with the issue will need service. You can setup service for the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic online here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

  • Different volumes levels when I record tunes on a CD?

    There are different volume levels when I copy tunes from my I-Tunes library. I'm trying to make a Sinatra CD from my I-tunes library and some songs are loud, others I can hardly hear. There must be a way to overcome this problem, but I don't know what it is. Can anyone help?

    Repeating a post I made on another thread:
    iVolume claims to work with iTunes' Sound Check to play songs at the same volume. The iVolume FAQ says the adjustment will carry over to burned CDs & iPods, too. It will not work on Music Store downloads due to DRM.
    I've read people on this forum say it works pretty well. It's US$15.

  • My Ipad 2 external speakers does not work and headphones has popping sound. This all occured at the same time as my Iphone and Ipod headphones only played mono (no, the "mono" option is not on). How can there be audio issue for all these devices?

    My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
    As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

    Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
    I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
    What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
    Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
    Peace,
    P. Dreadie
