IPod ejects as soon as it is connected - what can I do?

I NEED HELP! Every time I connect my iPod Classic to my computer, it automatically ejects within 30 seconds or less (usually less). I have removed and reinstalled iTunes on my computer, to no avail. Nothing will sync. Any ideas on what I can do?

I only came across this problem last week when I bought a new 160gb classic.
It disconnected itself before Windows had chance to try and recognise it.
I stuck it on a mains charger for a few hours and all was ok.
Having used it during the following day, it started to connect and eject continuously each time you tried to plug it into the USB port.
The same connection is also used, successfully, for two 2nd Nanos and two 5th Classics.
I left the 160gb connected for a few minutes whilst having to attend to something else.
When I un-plugged and re-plugged the USB connection, it now tried to sync with iTunes, but failed and ejected itself.
As it was charging, I left it and on the next re-plug, all was ok.
Same thing next morning. Use it, plug it in and it ejects. Charge it and all ok.
What I have also noticed is that the 160gb shows a battery icon in iTunes between its device name and the small eject button.
That only appears for this device and not the others, thus indicating some battery intelligence has been built into the 160gb.
My supposition is that the new classics have firmware that rejects an attempt to connect and sync with iTunes below a certain power level.
Perhaps a little fine tuning is needed to the firmware by Apple? Do Apple have a view on this?
Sorry for being so verbose but I hope this helps or stimulates a discussion.

i have lost my ipod touch white. i know the sirial no. what can i do to find it?
last week lost my ipod and i located it last in a shopping mall. now it is offline. what i want to know is how can the serial number be helpful to me.
Also will i be apple to locate the ipod when ever it is connected to the internet, for how long?

The SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.
    Apple will not nothing.
Report it to the police and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod.

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

    Do the following:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

Mifi devices are usually quite small. Think Credit Card size, and maybe slightly thicker. So not really a big device you need to carry around.
In any case if you are still within the 14 day return period you may be able to return it to an Apple retail store. It needs to be an Apple Owned store, not sure Authorized Resellers will let you do it.
Other than that, bob points out, you may want to try to use the iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad.  If your Carrier supports it.  Like the Mifi device, the iPhone will share its cellular internet connection out to other devices over a Wireless network the iPad can use.

This behavior does sound like there is some type of security software installed.  You can however initiate a direct download of the trial by following the steps listed at https://zerowing.corp.adobe.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=673972739.

  • TS1362 I purchased an album from itunes and a song in the middle of the album did not download completely. So, the song obviously cannot be transferred to my ipod because the file cannot be converted. What can i do?

I purchased an album from itunes, and a song in the middle did not download completely. All the others did. So, I obviously could not transfer that song to my ipod because the file could not be converted. What can I do?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • My iPod touch 4g doesn't saves photos. What can I do?

I have an iPod touch 4g with iOS 6.1.3. A few days ago it has stopped saving photos. When I take them it looks like it worked, but when I go check the camera roll they're not there any more. What can I do?

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue--possibly bad Home button switch.

  • My iphone was stolen. I had icloud downloaded, and was tracking my phone. Then it said no devices connected what can I do.

I had a random stranger ask me to borrow my phone. He then started running away. I would of contacted the police at this point but no phone. I went home and tracked my phone using Icloud. I got a location for a split second, put my phone on lost mode, and locked it. Next thing I know my icloud was saying no devices connected. What can I do to recover it.

If you are the original owner, take it to the Apple store along with your proof of purchase and they can probably remove the lock.

  • My daughter's so called friends have accidently disabled her ipad-not itunes connected-what can we do to save everything?

What can we do to save my daughter's precious stuff? Her friends have accidently disabled it. She has never connected to iTunes before? HELP Please

If she had previously registered her Apple ID and created an ICloud account in 'Settings'; then enabled the setting allowing for automatic iCloud back-ups to occur every time her Pad is connected to wi-fi, locked & charging...that's a good start. Even if she did nothing else but insure those regular back-ups occurred without incident,,then she should have all her Camera Roll pics, device settings, saved documents and accounts available in her Cloud. her iCloud account.
Thre's also a more detailed way of detailing the info that should be included in the back-ups. it involves reviewing all the apps & manually giving permission for certain information to be included or left out of the back-ups. If she also did this, then you should be able to restore all info according to,when the last save & back up.
Now, you can just turn on the iPad & it will give you choices for set up, just like it did when it was new. If the iCloud account was set up & used regularly, she can choose the option called something like 'Restore iPad Settings & Info through Wi-Fi, using iCloud information'......something like that.  The other two options are sometging like 'Set Up As New', which can be done without connecting to  iTunes, the iPad will just not have anything on it as it did before. It will be a clean & new device . The last option is to restore the old settings through iTunes, which you must connect to,a computer to do.  If you choosebrestore from wi-fi/!iCloud, it will walk you through the process on-screen.
Hopefully that made sense & can help you! Good luck!
