IPod erased everything

I was watching a movie on my iPod and needed to stop. I have the 'Remember last play' option turned on. when I came back later and selected the movie, all I got was a black screen. I did a reset and It erased my entire iPod. I have nothing now.
There seems to be some bugs with starting and stopping videos. Pausing a video and then it auto shuts off and turning it back on harshes the iPod big time.

Your best choice is to run the IPOD updater and select "Restore". Once complete, reload everything back on your IPOD. See this:

  • IPod erases everything every time I sync it.....

I've had my iPod for about 3 years now. It's in excellent condition, so maybe I need a new battery or something. But lately every time I plug in my iPod and sync it, it ends up erasing everything,so then I have to reset it every time. By the next day It does the same thing. It's really annoying that it erases everything and having to reset every day. I have no clue what the problem is....

You cant sync with your friends computer and your own at the same time. This prevents you from downloading your friends books/music from your friend so you cant "steal" from Apple.
To work around it just sign into her apple ID on your iPad and download them straight from the iPad instead of syncing it. That will allow you to sync with your own computer without erasing them.

  • Why Did My iPod Erase Everything?!?!

I have been working on putting new things on my new iPod. iTunes froze up a while ago, but my iPod said "ejecting," so I disconnected it. However, there is now nothing on my iPod. I did NOT hit "Restore Settings" in iTunes, so that shouldn't be the case. Why did this happen???? I have to reload so much that I am really ticked off.

I wish I had an answer for you but on Friday, I had something similar happen after 2 weeks of using my iPod. I plugged it in and it said the iPod could not be recognized.
When I looked at the iPod itself it showed no music, no videos, nada. But both the About box on the iPod itself and the iPod panel in iTunes showed 83 GBytes of other stuff on the iPod.
Given that I have only synced albums, videos, and podcasts to that iPod and given that the amount of space I have now after restoring is exactly what I had before I don't have a clue what happened.

  • I updated my iPod and it erased everything i had on it.  How do i retrieve the songs that i bought from the iTunes store?  when i try to download/buy them again they tell me i have already purchased them do i want to buy them again?

I updated my iPod and it erased everything i had on it.  How do i retrieve the songs that i bought from the iTunes store?  when i try to download/buy them again they tell me i have already purchased them do i want to buy them again?  I have authorized my computer but none of them are in my music now.

You buy one and only one download.
It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
Certainly you did not update your ipod without making sure that you had transferred anything purchased on the ipod to your computer and included it in your regular backup copy of your computer.

  • How do I use a different email on my daughters ipod? It used to be my sons and we need to get his email off without erasing everything.

I am just trying to set my daughters ipod, that used to be her brothers.  I don't want to erase everything but I want her to have her own email account on this ipod. So that the itunes aren't shared.  How do I go about that?

    CHANGE ID
    The ID is used for:
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
    Settings>iCloud
    and Settings>iTunes and App store
You  have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sing in with other ID.
    Note:
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
If the iPod has iOS 7 then you have the enter the password for Apple ID presently sign in Settings>iCloud.
Also, a Restriction can be set (Settings>General>Restrictions) the prevents changing accounts

  • I bought an ipod touch at a pawn shop and it has account registered to another person on itunes. i was wondering since i started my own account with itunes and tried to sync the music and other apps to my account would it erase everything on the ipod

i bought an ipod touch at a pawn shop and it has account and registered to another person on it and i don't know the password. and i started my own itunes account on the computer and when i connect the ipod to the computer the other persons account shows up to be synced to the computer and when i hit the sync button it says that the ipod can only be synced to one library at a time. then it says that it would erase his library contents and all other apps in order for it to be synced to my account. so i was wondering if there is anyway to sync all the music and other apps to my account with out it erasing everything on the ipod.

Do what iTunes is telling you to do.  Wehn you purchased the iPod the apps and other media do not transfer to you.  Then are permently locked/lienced only to the person who purchased them.  Using the stuff on the iPod is stealing.

  • I want to add new songs to my ipod.  When I set it up with itunes years ago I had a different computer that I no longer have.  Now it will not let me add new songs to my ipod shuffle without erasing everything that is already on it.  Help!!!

I want to add new songs to my ipod.  When I set it up with itunes years ago I had a different computer that I no longer have.  Now it will not let me add new songs to my ipod shuffle without erasing everything that is already on it.  Help!!!  Is there any way around this?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

  • I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had music on my ipod that I had gotten from other people's itunes libraries by changing my settings to manually sync my ipod. However, twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it completely erased everything

I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?

Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

  • I recently bought a used iPod touch generation 5 and reset it (erased everything from it because the previous owner left a passcode on it) and I had to enter my language,wi-fi stuff, and then it said "Activate iPod" I don't know the owners info! Help?

I recently bought a used iPod touch generation 5 and reset it (erased everything from it because the previous owner left a passcode on it) and I had to enter my language,wi-fi stuff, and then it said "Activate iPod" This iPod is currently linked to an Apple ID (c*****@k*****.net). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPod. The man who sold it to me said he bought it from another guy and sold it to me..So, I don't know what to do! I searched it up and it said you could go to iCloud and iTunes, but It's not working for me. Please help!!

    A little more information:
You are running against the Activation Lock

If you can't get this done
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
you have a thin brick. I suspect your iPod was stolen or lost. I would turn it into the police since it is worthless to you if you can't get the previous owner to remove from their account

  • My computer crashed and I lost everything, when I sync my ipod will everything on it be erased

My computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything. Once I connect my ipod will everything on it be erased?

That's what backups are for. Use Time Machine. It's free and external drives are cheap. To recover your iPhone's content requires the use of third party utilities. Success is not guaranteed. Read:

If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then transfer purchases form your ipod.
    Without syncing, click File>Transfer Purchases

  • When restoring your ipod touch, will it erase everything on it?

    hello everyone
I was wondering if restoring your ipod touch will erase everything on it because my computer does not seem to be recongizing my ipod nor is itunes. And I was afraid that if I restored my ipod that everything will be gone from it. The reason I am worried about this is that I have important notes that i have typed on it and a lot of aps that I do not want to put back on (too much work).

If you restore to original settings it will erase everything on your iPod Touch.
Check out some of the troubleshooting documents about the iPod not being recognized in Windows before restoring. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If you must restore you can recover back to the last backup created when you last synced your iPod.
