IPod First Generation sudden pause during playback

Whn i am playing AIFF files with my 1st generation iPod, it will have a sudden pause in the middle of the playback.

i want you to follow few steps
1) fully charge the ipod and then see if the symptoms reoccur
2)if it does, no point in resetting the ipod... instead update the computer with the latest ipod softwarre updater and restore the ipod with it..the contents of the ipod will be deleted you have to redownload them from your computer...now see if the problem reoccurs
3)if yes then you have to walk in to a nearest apple store maybe your ipod needs a service...no need to jump to conclusion that the ipod isnt working first follow the steps...

Try a hard reset first.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button
until the screen goes dark. The Apple logo appears after a few seconds,
and then the Home screen.
If that doesn't work, try a restore of the device in iTunes.
Otherwise, does this skipping and stuttering only happen with certain tracks? What format are these tracks in and where they come from (outside of iTunes or from the iTunes store itself)?

Camcorder pauses during playback.

Both my canon video camcorders ( XH G1 and XL H1 ) pauses during playback or capture. Both are a few years old. The tapes I am using are new professtional Quality. Any Ideas?

It will pause after only a few frames. It will then play for a couple of seconds then pauses, this keeps repeating.
I just noticed this accelerated play then pause a few days ago.
Months ago it did this but not nearly as frequently. I blamed this early pausing on the tapes I bought, since I was in need of fresh tapes on a job (my pro tapes took a hit and were broken) so I had to buy local Wal Mart tapes to finish the job.
Luckily I was able to pull enough footage off these to finish the job.
Since my first post I researched some and read that people were hitting the bottom of their camcorders during play back and this would resolve the pausing. I am not a fan of this solution. I also read in there that someone thought that the rollers or wheels in the camcorder are lose or worn.
Does the record and playback use the same drive system? If so this should not be the problem since when recording the time code keeps advancing without pausing.

IPod First Generation Song Order Problem

Equipment Specs:
IPOD -- First Generation, 1 G size, Firmware ver # 1.1.5
ITunes -- Ver # 7.2.0.34
Problem
I recently updated to the above version of ITunes. I also recently reset/erased all my songs (no podcasts or nothing else)from my IPOD.
I then reloaded just songs to my pod using the drag and drop method from the music file. I then re-arranged the songs in my desired order.
I then disonnected the pod and exited ITunes.
When I later restarted ITunes with the pod connected, my song order had changed. With the pod still open in ITunes, I am no longer able to change the play order position. As say, move song #45 to position #2 and etc.
Has something changed as I was always able to do this prior to updating ITunes and the pod ?
Was this caused by updating ITunes to the newest version?
Is there a solution to be able to manage the order of your songs as before ?

OK, When I am trying to do this, I see the following
columns
1. name
2. time artist and so on
In the name column the songs are numbered.
I've been referring to the UNlabeled column to the LEFT
of the "Name" column all this time... you seem to not be able to recognize that there actually IS such column according to your description.
I'm referring to the numbers on the LEFT side as in this image:

When I try and move 9 to 5 or whatever there is no
horizontal line as I have seen in previous versions.
I know how I accomplished this task before and it is

this problem has not appeared there.
BUT you CAN delete iTunes 7.2 and then go to http://filehippo.com/download_itunes and download 7.1.1 (under Old Versions in box on right side of page)
Install it and see if it solves the problem...

SlideShow in iDVD has a 99 photo limit - more than this and all sorts of error occures.
One can have more than one SlideShow on a DVD = X times 99 photos.
or assemble SlideShows in a movie editor (no limit at least not under 650 photos)
(only limit is Time in iDVD (movie time + MENU time --- 60 min or 120 min on SL-DVD and about twice on DL.-DVD )
I use
• iMovie up to HD6 - or -
• FinalCut any version
As they will give a better quality than iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 can do.

Intermittent pauses during Playback with Captivate 6

I am running Adobe Captivate 6.0.0.199... "Non-Quiz" slides intermittently pause during playback, but, only the animated text... the audio continues. This occurs regardless of a variety of export configurations I have tried. Ideas?

Please upgrade ASAP to 6.0.1.240. The version you are using has a lot of bugs, that were fixed with this patch released in October 2012 (not a typo - more than one year ago). Go to Help, Updates.

IPod pauses during playback, even when Hold is on

My iPod recently started to pause all by itself during playbacks. The problem has been recurring, sometimes as frequently as a few seconds apart. It stops even when the Hold switch is on. Motion seems to make it worse, although the problem still occurs when the iPod is sitting still. I haven't dropped the device or otherwise subjected it to impact. Please help!!!

First Gen 5GB: Static during playback

Help! During playback (using original driver) the sound output suddenly became very noisy/fuzzy/staticky. I erased the drive, reset it and loaded updated drivers but no change. Is this now a paperweight?

Hi Clayton,
A couple of ideas: the simplest (but least likely to work) is to look down into the headphone jack to see if you can see the two copper colored contacts. If one appears to be bent in, you could try to very gently ease it out.
The second is to fix the solder on the earphone jack. This is more complicated (but do-able) and seems to be not too uncommon a problem (is yours a second generation iPod, 20Gb?). You can read my other thread about it here;

Oprah podcasts still pause during playback

Quite a while ago I asked about the weird hesitation during playback of any of the Oprah podcasts, but, although several people reported having the same experience, no one had an answer.
Well....thought I'd bring the subject up again and see if there was any answer to why this is happening, and how to correct it.
Basically, after about 20 minutes into any of the podcasts offered by Oprah's soul series, my iPod will lock up and pause for a while. Nothing can force the iPod out of this mode while it's paused... you just have to wait until, whatever is happening, finishes. As the program progresses, these pauses occur more frequently and the duration of the pause increases as well (sometimes lasting for a minute or longer).
BTW, the podcasts play fine, without hesitations, on iTunes within any Mac...only when played thru an iPod does this occur.
Of course, all other music, and podcasts, play back normally, without pauses.

I've identified two different Oprah Podcast series, I assume you are referring to the *Oprah.com Spirit Channel* (also known as *Oprah's Soul Series* ) with episodes: Kathy Freston from 18th August and Rodger Kamenetz from 26th August, is that correct?
If so, I notice that there are audio-only Podcasts & video Podcasts, so we need to know which episode types are causing the problem, audio, video-small screen or video-large screen. I'm currently downloading (as I write) the episode *Rodger Kamenetz part 1 - small screen* as a test. Are you trying to play the large-screen versions of the videos on your iPod?

If the Apple Store Genuis says you can't sync music from an audio CD to your iPod (because it's too old), he or she is not much of a "genius."
That question is not even related to your iPod. First step is to "rip" the music CD into your iTunes library. Once the songs on the CD are in your iTunes library, they are like any other songs in your library, and you can sync them to your iPod as desired. NOTE: When you insert a music CD, it appears in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. If you do not see the sidebar (along left side of window), from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
It was the context of your original question, not the actual task. You can easily add songs files that are on a flash drive to your iTunes library. Open a window that shows the flash drive contents. Drag the song files from that window to the iTunes window, and drop them on your iTunes Music library. Or, use the command
iTunes menu bar -> File -> Add to Library...
NOTE: Open your iTunes preferences, Advanced tab. If the checkbox for Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library is NOT checked, those songs from the flash drive will only be accessible (for playing and syncing) when the flash drive is connected.

They will send a replacement of the same generation and capacity. So you would get a 4 GB 1G iPod Nano in return.

i am just in the process of buying and ipod first gen. The problem is i have a windows commputer not a mac, and that ipod was formated for just mac. now i hurd that there is some kind of way that you can make the first gen compatiable with windows. Also i kno you have to use a firewire cable for this ipod. Can u just use a regular usb cord for the other ipods that i have? if not where can i get the firewire cords at?

None exists. The only method I've seen which might work is to use this component and a FireWire ExpressCard.
