IPod Flashing Screen Of Death?

I've seen similar topics with this problem, but still no answer. ***? The issue is that my iPod was playing normally, doing everything jsut fine, then all of a sudden it shut off. Figuring that it had just run out of jucie, I plugged it into the wall and...nothing. Then I plugged into the computer...still nothing. Then I plugged it in and tried to do a rest...nothing. THEN it started just flashing white flashes once a second. When you unplug it, it stops, but it won't charge, won't turn on, won't be recognized by anything. What is up? All I need to know is what is wrong with it and I will fix it!

I am currently running XP and no matter WHERE I plug my iPod in, it won't work. All it does is flash the backlight on and off of the apple screen. It won't charge, and it won't be recognized by my computer. When I plug it in, it says that there is very low battery, even though it was flashing on the charger for a week...

  • 1st gen iPod flashing screen

I have a 1st gen iPod.  When I went to connect to iTunes to sync and charge my iPod, iTunes does not recognize it and the iPod is flashing the apple logo.  Otherwise it does not power up at all.  It was used as recently as the night before with no issues other than needing to be charged.  Suddenly it appears to be dead.  Help!

Yes. The screen in one model/generation iPod are the same.

  • Ipod Flashing Screen

I am traveling across Europe and the IPod is one of my best friends until last night when I got back to the hotel and tried to turn it on and I was greeted with a screen whcih flashed different colours (in what I think is a random order). The Ipod wasn't connected to a power source or a computer so I wouldn't think that there would be any reason for it to fail like this.
I am still able to turn the backlight on and off - but it won't play any sounds at all.
    Thanks for any help.
p.s. I have all of my Europe photos stored on my Ipod and I am really worried about losing all of them so if there is any option other than restoring the Ipod that would be preferable.

  • IPod white screen of death... if I can even get it on.

So my iPod randomly decided to stop turning on. It does not respond to soft reset at all, and it does not respond when I try and connect it to a computer (I've tried three different ones). The only time it turns on, is in my iPod FM transmitter player in my car, and when I put it in that, I see a blank white screen, and I can't do anything in it. As soon as I take it off, it turns off again.
    Any ideas?
This is my second iPod, got the first one replaced, but now I'm out of warranty, and I think it's ridiculous that I have to pay to see a fix when there's always SOMETHING wrong with this iPod.

I'm assuming it MIGHT be the cable, so I will try plugging it into a friend's wall adapter, but if anyone else has any other ideas, please let me know?

  • IPOD causes "Blue Screen of Death" with physical memory dump

Plugged in the IPOD into USB port on computer. It shows "found USB device" and then 5-10 seconds later I get the blue screen of death and a notification that there is a driver error and a physical memory dump as occurred.
Spent two hours with Apple people and Dell people this morning and nothing. I have updated drivers, flashed my bios, uninstalled and then reinstalled the latest version of Itunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)

if you're just seeing a flash of a blue screen, we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • IPod Nano white screen of death - RESURRECTED! :D

Alright, here's the deal...A friend of mine has a new iPod Nano and gave it to me because it had stopped working, and was hoping it was worth something to recover. Sorry about the long story!
It _wouldn't_ turn on. But, when connecting it to the computer via the USB dock cable, it comes on for a few seconds on a grey-whitish screen. Then turns back off, reboots, and tries again. Step 1 step 2. Nothing.
Although, 'Diagnostics mode' or whatnot it is, does work however. It would still be a faint grey screen, but whiter and more vibrant, as if it's saying "Hey, I'm alive! I'm alive!!!" and I can go through settings and make it (sometimes) change colors, and reboot the iPod.
I was thinking since iTunes never recognized it (It was plugged in the whole time) that I would drown in just for the sake of it.
Well, 3 hours later after attempting to kill the poor thing, it... resurrected itself.
I'm serious, it really seems to have unbelievably done it. When turning it on, I get 2 beeps, but no restart loop, the LCD stays on the white screen though, BUT, here's the good thing.
NOW, I hear the system 'click' sounds when using the buttons and such that it's going through the menu, good news so far! It seems like it because after the 'boot' sequence (it appears to boot very fast, strangely).
The good thing is (kinda) https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1517571?start=0&tstart=0 ... So I suspect that somehow, this method of submerging it under water, letting it dry, blowdrying it, and then leaving it in the heat, somehow restored the SD chip inside of it... possibly only for now... I'm going to use this moment to hopefully get all data off the device, and see for one last time if it's fully restorable...
I have the power! Ok, so I hooked it up to the wall charger (just put the wall connector on the USB cord) and it now beeps two times, and after about 30 seconds or so, I get to the main menu, screen still white, but I can certainly hear the click letting me know I'm 'navigating' the iPod. It doesn't appear to have any music on it, or maybe it does, but I need to connect some earphones first. Or, it supposed to be display the 'sad iPod' icon, but I just don't see it, therefor, I'm blind as to the status of it.
I likely guess it's the battery, since every time I disconnect it, it goes dead. Yep, just looked back, still on. Yep, still menu clicking. Yep, I can start it with no problems now. Any clue what I can try to do to resolve this? Obviously it's turning on, and it seems to be doing something, it boots, (apparently) so that's a good sign.
Please, is there any hope at all in this iPod?  At all?
AND, IT JUST BEEPED 2 TIMES AGAIN! And I was just typing... why did it do this? (Funny thing is, how it still works!) Is that really the menu button clicking? That would explain it, I mean it only plays the menu clicking sound AFTER about 30 seconds of it 'booting' to the iPod firmware, so it obviously has some sort of life to it. If I hook up my earphones... Holy Mac! I hear music! It's alive!!! It's alive!!! Oh my man!!! Yes!
It has hope, in a way!
Atleast, I hope, but it works! Freaking amazing! Jamming to some awesome beats right now, some cool hip hop, sound quality you ask? Great, actually! I don't know how, don't want to know, but it seems trying to kill this iPod actually resulted in it being resurrected? How? Who knows! This is awesome! iPod truly CAN have 2 lives, I guess!
Cool stuff, I swear on that! My favorite song was on here too!
How to adjust the volume on the iPod Nano? I don't care, it's playing at full volume, and it's awesome!
The sad thing is, it still has the white screen of death, and the battery is apparently fried still (or needs a good 24-hour charging).
This iPod has been sitting dead as a dud in the storage room for a good 1 year or so, unused. And now it came back to life in a flash. Unbelievable.
    I love you Apple.

Your problem was moisture. It was wet inside and sitting around for a year let it all dry up.
If you get this kind of thing happening, speed the process up by putting the iPod into a zip lock baggie with a dessicant (you know those little silica pouches) or even some rice to absorb the moisture. Let it sit for a few days and it should dry it all out.

  • Ipod crashes windows (blue screen of death)

Hi all. A bit of background info:
A couple of months ago the hard drive crashed on my friends computer. They had to reinstall their OS. Thankfully they had made backups of most everything and were able to get most things reinstalled successfully.
Now they are using a 15g ipod connected through a firewire port on an HP laptop. They do not have a USB adaptor, so gotta go with the FW.
Anyway, when they connect the ipod the computer completely crashes to the blue screen of death and does the physical memory dump. There is an error message, something along the lines of a driver issue.
I know this is vague information, but any pointers on how to proceed in troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated, thanks
    Frost

    hi Frostine!
Anyway, when they connect the ipod the computer completely crashes to the blue screen of death and does the physical memory dump. There is an error message, something along the lines of a driver issue.
we can sometimes narrow this down a bit by checking on the numerical and text codes showing up with the blue screen. (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm checking on:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
can you get that information for us from their PC?
(if the screen is specifying the file that Windows is crashing on, that would be helpful to know too.)

  • Windows Vista Crashing When Ipod is Plugged In. Blue Screen of Death?

A week ago, my computer suddenly started to reboot whenever I plugged my 5th generation 80 gig Ipod in to sync. A blue screen will pop up, and automatically restart.
I do not believe this is the blue screen of death that appeared 2 months ago. I have upgraded to Itunes 8.0.1 when it was first released, and I had no problems until a week ago. I haven't heard of anyone receiving the blue screen of death since the update to Itunes 8 was released.
I have also lost all of my music from my Ipod, so I am anxious to figure this out.
Here is what the blue screen (certain passages paraphrased, the specifics were copied directly):
A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
    BADPOOLHEADER
If this is the firs time you've seen this stop error screen, restart yoru computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Make sure all hardware and software is properly installed
If it continues, disable/remove any newly installed hardware and software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shawoding. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 for Advanced Sartup options, then select safe mode.

Have you tried the troubleshooting advice in this article?

Was a file name mentioned in the stop message? usually something.sys That can be a clue to the problem is the Apple advice doesn't help.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen has the white screen of death and won't connect to iTunes to restore.

I was updating from iOS 6 beta 1 to beta 2 when my ipod froze up and started showing the white screen of death. I've tried the trick where you hold the power and home button for ten seconds and tried to put it in DFU mode to restore. None of these tricks work and my screen is still white. Also I plug it into my Windows Vista computer with iTunes 10.6.3 but it wont show up. I really need help. I don't have warranty or money to buy a new one. • Blue Screen Of Death When Syncing Ipod

Hey so if anyone can help me i will love you so much,
So I have a 20GB fourth generation ipod (old i know) but it works fine, and i have an new HP laptop that i got for christmas and like for a good 2 months everything was fine with itunes and then one time it told me i needed to restore my ipod to factory settings and i was like oh this is annoying but whatever ive done it before so i just did it, but the next time i tried syncing my ipod the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH came up and that scared me but i thought maybe it was just a one time thing...turns out it wasnt and now every time i try to sync my ipod the blue screen comes up and i have to restart my computer. my itunes otherwise works fine i listen to music on it and add music to itunes perfectly fine just the syncing doesnt work. I also thought maybe it could be my ipod because it is old so i went down to my desktop which has XP and and older version of itunes but it worked completly fine. SOOOOOOOOOOO i have no idea what to do. i dont know tons about computers but im not ******** and can most likely follow directions so if anyone could help me it would be much apreciated because i can not take listening to the god awful radio in the car much longer.

Have you tried System Restore to go back to before the problem started?
If that fixes the Blue Screen Of Death issue, then you can try and track down the changes from then to when the problem started.
    Good Luck.

  • IPod Causing Blue Screen of Death on Windows Vista

I'm posting this in the correct forum now:
For some reason, all of a sudden, whenever I plug in or unplug my iPod to my computer, the computer crashes and quickly shows a blue screen of death before restarting. It has not done this before today. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with the iPod or the computer that would cause it to do this.
When iTunes opened, it said there was a Windows Update to fix a problem with iPods corrupting upon disconnecting from the PC, but when I tried to download the update, it said something about the update not being needed for this system. The iPod isn't corrupted, everything is still on it. I don't know what the deal is.
I tried system restore back to like a week ago, but this did nothing to help.

First, update the USB Root Driver on your computer: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 Even if there are no new drivers for your computer, follow the last part of the article and let Windows update your USB driver.
Second, be sure you are using a rear port on your computer.
Third, with only the iPod, mouse and keyboard connected (no speakers, no mic, nothing else), reassign the drive letter on your iPod. Try M or P or Z: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499

  • Blue Screen of Death When Plugging in Ipod Touch 4g

    Hello,
Im reciving blue screen of death when I plug in my ipod touch 4g. I have updated itunes, Drivers, This happens every time and I suspect it happens when my computer says found new hardware reconizing the ipod as a camera because once I pluged my ipod in and it didn't pop up found camera hardware and it worked. So does anyone know how to fix this or disable my comp from reconizing the ipod as a camera? Thanks in advance
p.s im using XP service pack 3

have u tried pluging an other usb (eg mp3 or mem stick) it to ur compuer? is it doing it with these?
if its only doing this with ur ipod try the following
1 go to start menu and in the search box type in usb
    look for device manager
    2. open the disk drives and plug in ipod touch and removeable disk should show up
    3, try usb drives updates
because the ipod has a camera most older computers running xp think its a camera,
if u have and usb mem stick copy ur itunes folder on to it and copy it to a computer running vista or windows 7 and c it its doing it on one of them, if its doing it on one them there may be other hardware isues with ur ipod touch
