Ipod flipping through songs

My ipod is going crazy...when I turn it on and pick a song or playlist it starts flipping through all of my songs or all of the songs on the playlist until it gets to the end and then goes back to the main menu...it will not let me play a song at all. I have tried hooking it up to my computer and charging it but that doesnt work. Any suggestions??

Try resetting it by first toggling the hold switch on and then off (orange not showing). Then press the Menu and center select button at the same time; pressing and holding them until the Apple logo comes up, then release them. Once the menu comes back try and play a song. If it doesn't work at first, try it again and this time with the iPod connected to a power source.

Yeah I'm getting the error "Can't read from or write to.", and the iPod itself will turn on, but when I put it on a playlist or album, it starts flipping through all the songs before it even gets a chance to play part of the songs. What gives?

My iPod will often times cycle through, show the song titles then reset itself to the menu screen BUT NOT PLAY THE SONGS. I see the song titles going by on the screen, wait for the songs to start but that's it, they don't start.

When a song is selected to play, the Ipod simply goes to that song then starts cycling through every song in the playlist without playing anything. Anyone have an answer?

iTunes is quite friendly, and very powerful.... You probably just need to set up automatic syncing in iTunes.
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Select the iPod there.
To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown. Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary. Click on Music next to Summary. This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. This setting enables automatic syncing for music. If your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres. From the lists below, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod.
Here's one convenient way to set this up. In your iTunes library, create one or more playlists. Add the ALL the songs you want on the iPod to those playlists. OR, you can use existing playlists. Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists. (You can select other items on those lists, if desired.)
When you click Apply, the songs in your selection sync to the iPod. Going forward, to update your iPod (add/remove songs), just update those playlists in your iTunes library. The iPod does not need to be connected. The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes.
NOTE: On the bar of buttons that starts with Summary, click on the other buttons (such as Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.) to set up syncing for those iTunes media categories.

I downloaded 2 cds onto my ipod nano through itunes. Recently my itunes account changed and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds. How to transfer from ipod back to itunes? I don't have the cds anymore.

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not your "account." The "account" you have for iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use when purchasing or downloading from the iTunes Store. If these songs came from music CDs that you imported into iTunes, those songs are not related to your Apple ID.

How are they not "recognized"? Are the songs still listed in your iTunes music library, but grayed out? They no longer appear in your iTunes library at all?
If you search your computer (not in iTunes) for the song files, using one of the song names, can you find the song files?

IPod touch suddenly fast forwarding through songs and videos + voice control screen cutting in

In the last couple of days, it has started fast forwarding through songs and videos randomly. The voice control screen is also cutting in randomly. It happens as soon as I turn it on and play my first track or video. The only other problem I have noticed is that the volume controls on my headphones are no longer working. The headphones would be less than 6 months old and are genuine Apple ones. I don't think the problem is related because if I unplug them the fast forwarding still happens. I've tried powering it off and then re-starting it and I have been keeping the software up to date on it so I'm not sure what else I can try.
In saying that, this morning it seems to be working properly but I'm worried the problem will return. I still can't adjust the volume via the headphones though.
If anyone has any ideas about what I can do to resolve the fast forwarding problem, I would appreciate the feedback. The headphones I don't really care about because I can replace them.
I've had my iPod touch for a few years and use it pretty heavily so part of me is wondering whether it is just getting to the end of its life. I'm not sure what sort of lifespan I can expect from my iPod touch.

60gb ipod photo keeps freezing and skipping through songs

I've had my 60gb ipod photo for almost a year and it keeps freezing and skipping through songs and sometimes it won't respond to a reset. I have to let the battery run down in order to use it again. I have restored it several times and it seems to keep happenning at least once a week.I have the latest software for it. Is there any thing else I can do?

Help!!! My iPod Mini keeps scrolling through songs, I can't select

When I choose songs, and select one, the song does not play. The Ipod mini just continues scrolling through song titles. We can pause, but not play. Tried reset, no good. Any ideas?

Does this only happen with songs that you've purchased from the iTunes Store, or does it happen with imported CDs, too?
If it's only with the iTS songs, then take a look here:

If it also happens with imported music as well, then I would suggest that you try restoring your iPod.

If it is jailbroken, we are not allowed to help you with that here. You'll need to seek out other sources of help. The jailbreaking could potentially be part of the problem, for all I know.

Mine did that too. I don't know why it happened, but I restored it to factory settings, reloaded all my songs, and now it works fine.

The computer can tell the difference between your two iPods. When you first plugged each one in, you named them and the computer recognizes each one as a separate disk.
Now, when you plug in your iPod, and you are looking in iTunes at your iPod contents, you will see four buttons in the bottom right corner of iTunes - the first one is to display iPod options. Click on this, and under the music tab, select "Automatically update selected playlists only". Then, you scroll through your playlists and select only those you want to be transferred to your iPod. Your mother can do the same thing. Now you can each make your own playlists from the same music library, and only those songs you want to go onto your iPod will transfer when you plug it in. You can make the same selections for all the other options too (video, podcats. photos, etc), so that you only have to have what you want on each iPod.
I have two iPods, a new 5g video iPod and an ancient 1g iPod, and have no problems syncing each of them with different playlists and options.

I have two albums (RCA Sweeny Todd 2 discs set and RCA Into the Woods 1 disc) where the songs are listed as being on the same album on the list view, but do not group together on the iPod, so the songs can't play consecutively, or in the proper order.

UPDATE: This behavior (to an extent) still happens when "Repeat Album" is off. Instead of an infinite loop, it goes through all the tracks on the album (unsuccessfully) and kicks me out to the Album overview screen. Going back to list of Albums and tapping the Album again brings up "No Content: You can download music from the iTunes Store" but that screen immediately kicks me back to list of Albums.
So I am just even more confused now.
