Ipod freeze and runs slow

i was listening to music the pressed menu and it was going really laggy so i restored it and then uploaded the song then it froze in the process of that and then a message came up saying folder cannot be found someone please help me

remember that after all is said and done, the ipod is a simplified computer.
odds are that some of the sectors on the hard drive have become corrupt, or worse, the boot sector has died. there also could be problems with the hard drive head.
software problems are unlikely if you've wiped it clean and reinstalled it.
i'd hand it over to someone who can run diagnostics.

  • My ipod 4g is running slow and doesn't open some apps what should I do ?

my ipod 4g is running slow and doesn't open some apps and close the when i am working on them what should I do ?

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Next try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

  • IPod freezing and not all songs play

My ipod freezes and cannot unfreeze until battery goes low. How do I get this problem fixed? Also, after I download a song and transfer it to my ipod, the ipod doesn't always play the song. It may play a few seconds, but that's it. I try to redownload the song and the ipod still won't play it. Need help with this thing!!

  • New Computer..how to get Ipod up and running

my old computer broke down and I have a new one. No access to old computer. How do I get my ipod up and running with new comp? I get a message saying my ipod is synched with another computer (the broken one)?

Synching to the new computer will wipe everything off the iPod.
If you have it enabled for disk use, mount it as a drive then copy off all of the hidden folders into your new iTunes. The hidden files will have nonsense names, but all the music is there, and iTunes will rename everything if you have it set to copy to your new library.
Otherwise, try these links from another thread (thanks PT):

  • Still not able to use fire fox, Fire fox works in safe mode but then it will freeze up and run slow when i try to use a link. All my drivers ect are up to date.

My Fire Fox will only open in xp sp1 but then it will run slow and freeze up when i try to view a link, i have just about given up with this problem as i have tried every thing that might fix this problem.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
If this doesnt work, may you please reply and respond with a list of things you have tried.

  • IPOD FREEZING AND SKIPPING SONGS

    hi,
i've had my ipod for about 6 years or so. just recently it's start to freeze and slow up on me. if i'm listening to songs and press the next song. it takes ages for the next song to come on or else it freezes. Also during some songs it skips on me as if part of the song is missing.
what to do? any help would be much appreciated

I had this problem with my old 20GB classic ipod, it all started when I began using my ipod for my running trainings, every day it used to get worse freezing every 10 minutos or so, then I got ****** and bought a new 80GB classic Ipod, I have it for about 3 weeks now and guess what? It started freezing or skiping songs also. I did a test where I synced the same library on my both ipod and the songs being skipped on my new one wasnt being skipped on the old one, so its a problem with the song, then I though it could be any damage in the ipod HD but my new ipod has no reason to be damaged, the only impact that it might have recived is from my running trainings, but the impacts are really weak. Other test I did was trying to remove the song being skiped from the ipod, everytime I did that my ipod couldnt be ejcted, it kept showing me the following message "The ipod canot be ejcted because it contains files that are used by another aplication." I had to unplug my ipod without ejecting it.

  • Ipod Freezes and scrambles PLEASE HELP

    Josh
oh and im running a PC with windows XP fully updated and fairly new.

If you bough the extended warranty, it should still be covered (otherwise, probably not).
You can try taking it in to Apple, they'll fix it for free if it's under warranty.
If they want you to pay, it's your call, but I'd probably just get a new one (they're pretty cheap these days).
You could also try waiting a few days, sometimes it just warms up or whatever, and will work if you wait enough.
As a VERY last resort, a friend told me that Apple suggested just banging it on a table a few times.
Don't hold me to this, and don't do it unless you'd lose your iPod anyway. Don't blame me if it makes it worse, I warned you.
    Good luck!
    -Nate

  • I Tunes freezing and running very slowly. Songs stopping during playback.

I just downloaded the latest I tunes update, now it's running even slower than it was yesterday and this message keeps popping up "The I Tunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred. (-50)" It has been getting worse and worse, it keeps stopping during the playing of songs and now is having a very hard time downloading purchased music from the I Tunes Store. I am very afraid I am heading for a BIG crash. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? I Tunes is freezing and it takes several minutes to come back on a play 15 seconds worth of a song and then it quits again. This is very frustrating as I have spent hundreds of hours in I tunes and the music is very important to me, as I am sure it is to everyone!

    Hi!
I'm a little confused by your response...what exactly do you mean when you state that the files in question won't "leave the music folder area"?
In the meantime you might run Disk Utility (in "Utilities" in the "Applications" folder) and repair permissions.
Also "get info" on the respective files and examine whether the "locked" checkbox is checked or not( make sure it isn't). While you're there, also check "ownership and permissions" to ensure that "read and write" are selected.
    Let me know!

  • Ipod freezing and not being able to mount

My ipod started to freeze, and won't play tracks the majority of the time. When I reset I got the exclamation mark over a folder, so tried to use ipod updater to restore as per instructions on apple web site. However updater gives the message 'can't mount ipod' even when it is in disk mode. At the same time I get this message I get my computer telling me that it has found new hardware and I should put my cd I got with my hardware to progress. I am loathe to do this as I am concerned it may wipe my music library off itunes. Can anyone help explain to me what is wrong with my ipod and what I can/should do to fix it. Thanks.

Try running chkdsk with the /R parameter on the drive letter windows has allocated to the iPod (e.g. chkdsk I: /R, where I is the letter windows has allocated to your iPod)and then attempt a restore.

  • Safari constantly freezes and is slow.  Just fix it Apple.  Who do you think you are, Microsoft?

Safari constantly freezes and is incredably slow.  I have tried every "fix" on the Internet. Nothing works.  Just fix it Apple.  Stop pretending it is not a problem.

    *********** PROBLEMS FIXED ************
I have spent the last month trying to get my iPad 2 running like it did before 8.0 and 8.1. Finally chatted with Apple support for two hours trying many things. Then I  followed their instructions to do a full factory reset, reinstalled all my apps, and recreated all of my email accounts.
Nothing, nothing, nothing worked! My iPad still runs crappy and web browsing (on any browser) was still tortuously slow and choppy.
Then I tried this..... I put the iPad on a shelf,  went out and bought a Surface Pro 3. Now my tablet is running with lightning speed with an abundance of apps, and the user interface is performing great!
    Bye Bye Apple.
