  • Ipod freezing after not using it for 2 days

my Ipod freezes after not using it for 2 days, should i go to the apple store and get a new 1, or is this normal. If i do go to the apple store, i would probably get a nano right since they dont sell mini's anymore

What do you mean it "freezes". After 36 hours of inactivity the mini will go into 'deep sleep' mode. When awoken from deep sleep, the iPod will appear to reset. Is this what yours is doing? If so, it's normal.
Also, Apple still has a stock of minis available for warranty claims, so you wouldn't get a nano.

  • My ipod freezes everytime being touched

My iPod has been freezing and the screen changes colors I have the 5th generation and I can't even use for over a minute please help? I even tried resetting it

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Ipod freezes everytime I try to sync it to my computer?

I have both an iphone and ipod in my itunes. After the last big update, my iphone works fine. When I try and sync up my ipod it freezes and it tells me that it can't read the usb device in my computer.
When I run the diagnostics it tells me that there isn't an ipod connected.
When I reboot it, then it works ok.
I always have to restore my ipod.
Has anyone experience this problem? What can I do?
    Thanks
    Maggie

I'm having the same problem too... just started happening out of nowhere. After having this happen, I tried to enter the iPod into disk mode manually, which worked, and allowed me to use the iPod updater to restore the iPod.
I uploaded all my songs to it, but now a new problem has arised: whenever disconnect it, not only does it stay frozen, but when I try to restart it, it enters some kind of endless loop where the startup screen will show, then after a couple minutes, the backlight will go off and the iPod will reset itself.
So, valfish, don't do what I did, and to everyone else, how do we fix this???

  • My iphone setting freezes everytime i use personal hotspots

I don't know what went wrong with my iphone
Recently my laptop uses my iphone as a router to connect to internet
    and everything works great.
I usually left personal hotspot on untill the next morning, that means i don't turn it off when I am sleeping
and the next day on my laptop, the bottom right shows the internet isn't working.
so i would go back to my iphone trying to turn it off and restart personal hotspot again.
here comes the problem, everytime the internet isn't working, and i try to reopen it
my "Settings" always freezes and I can't change any settings
I can still using my iphone to play games, or any other applications, but not "settings"
    what could possibly go wrong?
Does anyone have the same problem?
By the one I have updated to the latest version iOS 4.3.3

Yea.. Same problem here. And this *only* happens when the hotspot is suddenly not working (which is also another different problem, why does this happens so often anyway). Even the blue status bar won't dissapear even though i've turned the personal hotspot off.
Everytime this happens i usually restart my iphone. But here comes another problem. i always have to do a force restart (holding power button + home button). Coz the iphone will also freeze (the shutdown process takes forever) if i attempted to turn it off under this condition.
Btw, if i stop personal hotspot during an active connection, this problem doesn't occur.
I'm using iphone 4 and just upgraded to ios 4.3.5

  • 30GB Ipod freezing up after using iHome

I bought myself an iHome unit to play my iPod when I'm hanging around at home. The unit works fine and the iPod plays fine. What I have noticed is that after using it for a few hours when I then plug my iPod into my computer to update the information it freezes up in the do not disconnect screen. To make matters worse my computer freezes up until I disconnect the iPod unit. I end up having to reset my iPod which does work but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and if so is there something that I could be doing to make sure that it doesn't happen again?

    Try resetting the iPod.
Make sure the Hold Switch is not operated (not locked) and then hold down the Select (centre) and Menu buttons until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.
If that does not work then connect the iPod to the computer and open iTunes.
Go into the iTunes preferences and check that the Album Artwork option is selected. If it is then, unselect it and click OK. Once the iPod has been updated go back to the option and turn it on again, this might force the iPod to update the artwork.

  • IPod freezing everytime connected to power and playing

Whenever my iPod is playing, and it's recharging, the iPod will skip that song and the next time i turn it on, it will have a folder or the sad iPod face. Any help on how to prevent that from happening other than not charging and not playing at the same time?

  • My iPod freezes everytime I plug it in to my macbook

How do I fix this (in layman's terms, please)???

The only suggestion I have is to try and rename your device in iTunes to something else by clicking it's current name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and typing in a new one.

  • Ipod freezes on shuffle feature

    hi guys
away from my home p.c. (which uses XP), and my ipod freezes when i use the shuffle all songs feature---note, i have had the device since september and it has never done this before, but it has done so twice since i left the p.c. where my library/etc is on 12/22. the first time, the battery was almost dead, so i just let it run out (the backlight etc stayed on) and when i charged it everything seemed fine. now, with a mostly full battery, it's frozen again on the shuffle function. i am unable to connect my ipod to my home p.c. (it's 12 hours away), but i have the converter that'll let me charge it from a normal plug. any thoughts on how i could solve this without waiting for the thing to de-juice again?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Connect it to the power adapter (the thing to let you charge it from a normal plug) and try a reset...

  • ITunes Freezes everytime iPod plug

Good day. My iTunes freezes everytime I plug my iPod classic into the pc. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks

I am having the same problem so I am going to bump your message...
iTunes freezes when I update my iPod and I get no error messages. It becomes unresponsive and I end up having to use Task Manager to close the program. When I reopen iTunes and try updating again it usually will but then I cannot disconnect the iPod because it says it is "being used by another application". I have to go into My Computer to eject the iPod. Also, after updating is complete the "Do Not Disconnect" continues to flash until the iPod is ejected. I have reinstalled iTunes, iPod updater, the whole bit and nothing has helped. I'm on Win XP.

  • IPod Classic 80 GB freezes everytime it gets charged

so i bought an ipod in mid october and i have had issues with charging. evry time i charge it using my pc, the ipod freezes. i can't eject(usually iTunes won't even recognize it) so i just manually take out the USB, then do the reset procedure(hold switch then press menu for 6 sec). the good news is the iPod gets charged, although it seems to show that it is more charged than it really is.
it doesnt matter what i'm running on the ipod either. i've plugged it in when its off, when its paused, when its playing, and on different menu screens. the result is always the same: the screen light remains on and the battery symbol is green with the lightning bolt in the middle. when i unplug, it stays like this. resetting everytime i plug in to my pc can't be a good thing.
there only seems to be problems when i connect. otherwise the ipod works fine(except a few songs don't play at all; ive noticed this on the boards but cant seem to find a solution; maybe an itunes problem or the song file itself?)
so does anyone else have this problem? do you think using the wall plug charging adapter will make a difference? should i just try to get a replacement?
    i appreciate any feedback

so i tried to restore last night and it didn't work...i got a 1418 error message. so things don't look good. i had to reset it again
however, i am at work now, and i plugged in my iPod and the PC recognized it. unfortunately, the iTunes is version 7.3 and i am not allowed to install software on these PCs. and the iPod didn't even freeze this time. i ejected it and had no problems
so what is going on here? it might be my home PC, which is 4 years old now and has issues from time to time(random resets for instance). I am in the midst of transferring everything to an external HD so that i can reformat the PC, but that probably won't be finished for at least a week.
anyway, what i'll do is try to speed up the home PC fixing, then see what happens. if its a no go, then i'll try to restore again. i will call up Apple as well. i go back home in two weeks for the holidays and an Apple store is close by so i can drop by them too.
    any other suggestions/thoughts are appreciated.

  • My sister and I each have an ipod touch. We use the same computer and itunes but each have our own apple id. Everytime I want to update an app on my ipod it asks for my sisters apple id login!? help!

My sister and I each have an ipod touch. We use the same computer and itunes but each have our own apple id. Everytime I want to update an app on my ipod it asks for my sisters apple id login!? help!

When it asks for another ID on an App Update, it means that the application was purchased under your sister's ID but downloaded to your device from the iTunes library that you share. Even though you both have your own Apple IDs, since you are syncing on the same computer, you are using the same iTunes library.
Whoever purchased the app is forever tied to it, and you can only have one version of a particular app in a single library....
    Does that make sense?
