IPOD FREEZES SOMETIMES

1. This doesn't seem to happen all the time but sometimes it seems like when I have apps on my TOUCH(for exp. WIfinder & ibowl) my touch FREEZES sometimes. Why is that? I did a reset a few days ago to see if that worked but today at work I was like listening to music & doing someting else & it FROZE.
2. When I was searching the boards I found someone minched the "WIfiner" app. I hit the "att" wifi and then connect & it said "filure-7" what does that mean?

I took my ipod in today (Sat) to see if they could do a quick Diagnostics to see why it freezes every so often. I told him it seems to freeze sometimes when I install apps, sometimes on the keyboard when you type a WI-FI password. He siad I had a few problems with it & he was going to order me a new one. I also did RESORE yesterday via itunes & later on within settings.
Is this a good idea to get a new one or will this keep happing sometimes?

Hi, the screen on my iPod touch 4 is flashing white and it freezes sometimes too. Please help me!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod freezes when trying to sync/sometimes reboots my computer?!?

I have a 20 gig ipod from 2004 (click-wheel with no color screen) that I have been trying to update my library on. Every time it tries to sync, it freezes and I have to plug it into the power supply in order to restart it. It also won't take any new songs if I try to add them manually. I tried restoring factory settings and updating my ipod software and that didn't help. I tried using the USB unsuccessfully and tried the firewire only to have that freeze the ipod and completely reboot my computer at the same time?! If anyone knows what is going on, I'd greatly appreciate any advice. I have taken great care of my ipod and would be surprised if it was something I had done to damage the unit.
    thanks MUCH in advance!
ps. my nano syncs and adds songs manually just fine with the same computer...

    Update:
Any new news on this issue from anyone else?
I left my iPod plugged into my PowerBook over night and when I woke it was functional. However, downloads from iTunes to the iPod take almost 3x's longer than they used to and there seems to be more errors than I've ever experienced (about 1 out of every 10 interfaces). Sometimes the error is that it can't write to the drive (iPod) and sometimes the error is that it can't mount the iPod. Also when the iPod is plugged in and displayed in iTunes, the "used" and "free" info is incorrect. I completely emptied my iPod and it says that I'm using -2.80 GB (impossible unless I've created a blackhole) and it says that I have 10.49 GB (capacity, under Get Info, is listed at 9.28 - which is were it's always been - it's a gen2 10GB iPod).
Has anyone tried to format there iPod? Is this possible without harming the drive?
Well, to sum it up my iPod is working but is having errors and bugs all over the place. If anyone has any new news I'd love to hear it.

  • 5th Gen iPod freezes on "Do Not Disconnect" screen when connected to Mac

My iPod freezes on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen (partially backlit) when I plug it into my computer. I have a G4 eMac with standard USB connections. The ipod firmware is up to date.
This freeze doesn't occur ALL the time....just occasionally. The iPod does not appear on my desktop or in iTunes when this happens. I have to wait until the iPod discharges its battery completely before I can use it again (this sometimes takes a couple of days!).
Does anyone have any ideas? Or is anyone else experiencing this?
    Thanks....

Thanks for the replies.........I can't seem to find a solution to this....its annoying to say the least. Its just happened again this morning, though it's successfully sync'd on the last few occasions....it seems to be quite random.
One thing I've noticed is that it synced OK when iTunes wasn't open when I plugged it in. It appeared on the desktop, then I opened iTunes. This morning though it froze when iTunes was already open, so there may be an issue with iTunes (I updated this weekend to see if it was any different with the new version). I guess this will happen if you've got the ipod set to open iTunes automatically when connected too.
So, no solutions as yet.......I'm gonna get onto Apple to see if they have any answers. I'll get back to you all on this one.
PS: why no firewire capabilities on the new ipods?

  • Ipod freeze unexpectingly and video problems

I have the older version of a 60 gb video ipod. Everytime my battery reaches halfway, my ipod freezes. Then after like 15 minutes, it shuts off. After it shuts off, it won't turn back on. After an hour later, I would try to turn it back on and it would show the 'out of battery' icon. But I barely even use up the battery yet.
Also, everytime I try to view a video, the video always freezes. And blue lines starts to show up. Sometimes the audio would screech too.

    Try restoring from backup.

  • Freezes sometimes when connecting to iTunes and an error

Sometimes when I connect my Classic to the PC sometimes my iPod freezes and I have to do a hard restart on it, this happens like 50 percent of the time.
It's still under warranty so should I just get it fixed or is it something I can do in the firmware?
Also I'm fixing the album art issue and I read to uncheck sync and then recheck sync the Display album artwork on my ipod, but then it doesn't go too far until I hit an error. (-50) what does that mean?

In that particular context, a -50 can sometimes be indicating a corrupt piece of album artwork.
Does the 50 always get thrown on the same song? If so, does deleting the artwork from that track allow the display artwork to sync through properly?

  • Ipod freezing in the middle of songs, have to wait until the battery dies.

Help me, my ipod freezes in the middle of songs and i have to wait until the battery goes out until i can do anything with it. And the harddrive has started to click and it sounds like a fan that starts spinning after two clicks. What should i do ?

you know what its funny because my ipod just did this last weekend. its been freezing on and off for the last couple of months. I have had it for a year and a half. It would freeze and i would try and do the whole thing where you hold down menu and select and that worked for awhile, but then suddenly last weekend it froze and it started making a weird clicking sound too. i got ****** and just left it at home for the weekend. when i got back home the battery was dead of course and i just plugged it into the charger and it turned on again. im guessing that sometimes you just have to leave it alone. when it made that clicking noise, it wouldnt do anything. you just have to let the battery die and then recharge it.

  • IPOD freezes in the middle of podcasts

My Ipod freezes in the middle of playback of podcasts downloaded from Itunes; I have to re-set IPOD in order to continue use. Also happens with audio books. No problem, however, with playback of songs.

I think I have the same problem. It just.. freezes and you cant do anything with the song. You can change songs and sometimes it starts working again if you keep changing songs long enough but that just *****.
So yeah, I know what youre going through And Id appreciate some info about this as well. Its really starting to tick me off.

Is anyone else having this problem?? My iPod (touch wheel) was working just fine until I updated iTunes the other night. Now it freezes when I try to sync it with iTunes! I tried resetting, restoring, checked all the updates, *****-slapping the iPod, everything. I see that others might be having the same problem -- is there a solution? Help!

  • 160GB ipod freezes during sync

I am trying to resync all of my songs & videos from Itunes to a 160GB ipod. When it gets to about 4GB, the ipod freezes and sync stops. I have tried resetting the Ipod, but it doesn't help. Any ideas?

I having a similar problem. Sometimes while my ipod is syncing or when I am deleting something, it freezes. I cannot close it at all. It doesn't effect the rest of the computer. I cannot get rid of it unless I restart the computer and I can't keep doing it, its becoming an annoyance. I've reinstalled 4 times and it doesn't seem to be working. PLEASE HELP!

  • IPod Freezing Up Often

I've had my iPod for about 1 year and 3 months now and about 3 months ago (surprise, surprise, just as my warranty runs up) my iPod started freezing up during songs. The display still works but the song just stops playing the the iPod will only respond when I restart it. Sometimes the iPod will work fine for a few songs then freeze, sometimes it will freeze before the song even begins.
I'll admit I've dropped it a few times (who hasn't?) but overall I've taken pretty good care of my iPod. I've tried everything except paying an estimated 255 dollars to have it fixed by Apple. Has anyone else had a similar problem or know anything I can do to fix my beloved iPod?

Suzanne - have you tried performing a restore? If not, do so. You can download the iPod update/restore software from Apple's website. If you have restored the iPod or if that doesn't solve the problem, then format the iPod's hard drive and then restore it. If this doesn't solve it, Google iPod repair. You can almost certainly get it repaired for a lower price than quoted by Apple.
Note: since this site is mostly visited by people who are trying to find solutions to their problems, it might seem as if iPod problems are the norm. But Apple has sold tens of millions of iPods - only a very small fraction of those people wind up here.

  • Ipod freezes between songs

Often my iPod takes a minute or two between songs. After one song finishes, the screen shows the next one, stuck at 0:00 for anwhere between 1 and 2 minutes. It also freezes sometimes when I push play at the top of a playlist.

I'm getting the same issues... ipod completely freezes for about 2-3 mins between some songs and its just done it again hence me finding this post after googling it! Not sure what the problem is. Did you manage to sort it? Am thinking it might need restoring to factory defaults. I have the 5th Gen (2005) classic ipod.
