Ipod Freezes up and low battery time

Well My ipod has been freezing up lately and the battery time does't go on for the 8 hours after being charged fully. I was wondering if i would be able to send it in to get fixed.

Evan,
Try to reset your iPod and see if it helps your battery and freezing up.
Press and hold the MENU + CENTER buttons - at the same time - until you see the Apple logo. You want to do this while your iPod is connected to your computer and you might have to try more than once.

If the Reset didn't work, you'll need to do a Restore.
From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finished, you will be asked if you wish the contents of iTunes to be copied to the iPad.

my iPod U2 4th gen started acting up on me. it needed to be reset more and more often, until it decided to just stop working all together. it would show me the apple sign, sad face, and low battery symbols. bought and installed new battery, won't charge. it changes from apple icon to sad face back and forth on it's on when plugged into wall with firewire. goes from apple icon to sad face when connected to pc via USB. pc won't recognize it. please help! i've tried everything! is there something wrong with my hard drive? i'll pay anything to save the files on my hard drive. HELP!!!!!

Hey man...I have the EXACT same Ipod with the EXACT same problem. I went to the apple store and they told me I had to wait 3 days to make an appointment with a "Mac Genius" to look at it and that with all the repairs done it would probably cost me $150. Frustrated, I went home and did some research and heres what I found:

I kid you not. So basically I put the wall charger on, let it charge for 3 hours. Took it off the wall plug and then slapped the $#!t out of it 4 or five times. Then turned it on. Same sad face. Tried a combination of the reboot procedure and slapping around and now it works! Good luck and hope it works for you too!
I feel like going to the apple store and slapping the crap out of "Mac Rip Ppl off Genius"

  • HT4060 ipad does not seem to be charge.  has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery photo remains...cannot turn on or off... only low battery photo and apple symbol or blank page appear

ipad does not seem to be charging.  Has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery icon remains same...alternates with apple symbol or blank page.  cannot turn ipad on or off

The iPod Touch kept trying to reboot yesterday but would only show the Apple logo screen then shut off - it finally drained the battery overnight I am guessing. Connected to USB the battery charging icon flashes.
Took it back to Best Buy, but they wouldn't touch it or replace it since it's under warranty.
To any potential buyers - beware. My best advice is to look somewhere besides Apple. Every Mac user I know has had to return a Mac, laptop, etc. Really poor quality control, and the retailers agree (Geek Squad told me they have had the same experience with Apple products).

  • My ipod is stuck on low battery!!!!! and wont charge

this might be a lil long but please bare with me!
my ipod wont charge. i whiped out my computer last weekend and had to put all my songs back onto my ipod. it was fully charged and worked fine for me.. now my battery is dead and ive plugged it into my computer and right before the ipod died it said i needed to restore it. and i couldnt bc my internet was down. now my ipod battery is dead and i cant charge it.. does anyone kno what to do? and when i plug my ipod in, it shows a battery with a circle on it and under it it says very low battery please wait.. and there is that little flower looking thing and it shows as if it was loading but nothing is happening it wont charge and i cant restore it.. is their any other way to do it??? i charged it mostly on my elbow that i had in my car but i dont have that anymore!! please get back to me, id appreciate it..

I dont know if this can help anybody, but I got the same issue. I sent the iPod to Apple for repair twice, and they sent it back to me saying their was noting wrong with it. I had the time to sync it once, then it got stuck on the Apple logo, and after a while the "very low battery" message showed.
It turn out the I got a playlist in iTunes of more then 65000 song (I dont know how my sons did it...) and it somehow messed the iPod completelly.
To reset it, I force the iPod into diskmode: you reset it using the center-menu buttons combo, then immediatly press the center and play buttons. It turns the iPod into disk mode and then you can restore it in iTunes.
    Hope this help

  • 30GB iPod Video not being recognized by iTunes and low battery warning

This is without a USB connection to mu Vista machine
    1. I hear a clicking sound (it comes from the HD) on start up.
    2. A dark Apple icon appears
    3. Then the back light comes on with the sad face iPod icon and exclamation point.
    4. It then shuts down and screen goes off.
Plug it into a USB port and same issue but the screen shows an un-backlit "Please Wait Very Low Battery" message.
If I leave it plugged into the USB port it just cycles through the process.
Note too that the iPod is not recognized by iTunes.
I have done the reset process without success.
I thiught I had a bad HD and/or battery so I replaced both. I get the same issues.
    Anyone have an idea?
    DAve

Well I tried putting the old hard drive back in and it was recognized in iTunes. All is well now.
I think the issue is that once the battery is totally run down there is no way for the thing to get enough power from a USB port to bootstrap itself.
I finally let thing recharge from a wall adapter all day.
I suggest you try to get it charged via the car adapter overnight. Of course the car port must be supplying power with the key off.
The Apple store people said they fix this type of issue by charging the ipod for 20 mimutes with a high power charger (I assume this is a 1394 type).
All these issues coulkd be solved with a better design,

    help

    See these troubleshooting articles.
    My iPod is sad.
What does this picture on my iPod mean?
Also, there is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.

  • Ipod Freezes now and then (tried 5Rs n more)

    Here's the prob:
i use Windows XP SP2 with latest iTunes and 1.2.1 ipod firmware,i've bought my iPod 5th Gen 30GB like 2 years ago...
Last saturday, after chargin' the ipod for 2 days due to low battery,i removed "safely" the ipod usin' window's secure extraction thingy...
When i went out from home with the ipod,i slide the hold button to unlock the ipod, and the ipod won't appear, but it's..normal?..then i press MENU + Select to start it (apple icon shows then main menu comes)
Now here's the prob: Whenever i play a playlist, after some minutes the music KEEPS PLAYING but the ipod screen IS FROZEN...like,the song's at 0:30 - 4:25 FROZEN but the song keeps playing..but oh yeah, when next song comes,a lil LIIIIIL part of the next song can be heard, but BANG to ya mouth!,music turns off but ipod screen STILL ON,but nor the keys nor clickwheel works..i tought "****!"
I've tried usin' MENU + Select to force rebootin' the iPod..then when the main menu comes again the keyboard's FROZEN and the screen TOO!!..
Oh yeah, sometimes, rarely, the keys works again, but not for long enough..randomly it freezes and here we go again...when i caught again the keys workin',i connected quickly my iPod to my PC and it appeared the "Do not disconnect" logo...i know that whatever **** happens and u connect the ipod to pc and that screen appears, everything works fine again...and it does!...for a time..coz next day i did that it FROZE AGAIN!!!
I'm DISAPPOINTED...and Apple didn't cared to make a new firmware repairing problems!!..oh yeah,1.3.1 for Apple Mac users..but NOT FOR WINDOWS USERS!!!
I tried that MENU + Select thing, even restored the iPod through iTunes!! (made a copy of my songs,of course...) and back to 1.2.1..but still "We're not gonna let you enjoy ya ipod anymore"
Somebody gimmeh an answer to this!!!!

i tried lettin' the ipod's screen drain it's energy to 0%..then plugged it into an USB and the "Please Wait Very Low Battery" appears...after 2-3 hours of rechargin',i tried pluggin' the headphones in it and it was workin'!..played 20 songs and i plugged in/out the headphones to see if the prob was solved, and it seemed that way...after 3 hours with the ipod off, turned it on and BANG,it happend again!!..
    help PLEASE????

  • My iPod is lagging and draining battery on iOS 7.1/7.1.1

I have a ipod touch 5G and i recently updated to ios 7.1.1 ota and now my battery drain faster , first i have update my iPod on 7.1 via iTunes and now my keyboard lags on 7.1.1 and lags on muitasking bar and little lag on contorl center and slow lanuching apps
On 6.1.3/6 it never did this , also on every iOS 7 verison , my iPod battery percent counter become less accerate
It moving up and down everytime on 6.1.3/6 it never did this

% battery on an iPod is not accurate. Apple does not provide that display. Fluctuatios in % battery are normal with load changes.
    For the lag:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Noisy fan, very hot case and low battery life

    Hi
Got a new Aluminium Powerbook 1.67 in Feb of this year, plus 2 spare
    batteries.
Initially I was very happy at how quiet it was and how cool it was running..... however....
The fan has become really noisy and the case gets very hot ( near the power in )
The batteries will only ever give me exactly 1.5 hours of use even after firmware upgrades and restting the PMU, PRAM etc. ( this is with light use )
Looks like it'll have to go back to Apple for the fan, I just wondered if anyone else had similar problems and whether they got resolved to their satisfaction?
    Regards
    Graham

    Graham,
Excess heat will certainly reduce battery life, so you should get your pB looked at ASAP and have the fans taken care of.
    Definitely think about getting AppleCare.
Did you ever properly calibrate your batteries?
Simply run them past the low-battery warning until the pB goes to sleep. Then plug in the Adapter until fully charged. May have to repeat this a couple of times.

  • Ipod freeze unexpectingly and video problems

I have the older version of a 60 gb video ipod. Everytime my battery reaches halfway, my ipod freezes. Then after like 15 minutes, it shuts off. After it shuts off, it won't turn back on. After an hour later, I would try to turn it back on and it would show the 'out of battery' icon. But I barely even use up the battery yet.
Also, everytime I try to view a video, the video always freezes. And blue lines starts to show up. Sometimes the audio would screech too.

    Try restoring from backup.

  • IPOD Freezes Itunes and Memory is full of "Other"

I have an 80g Ipod classic and i recently updated my itunes to version 10.6.1 (7).  After my latest sync, my ipod now has no music but 1/2 the memory is full with "other".  I have reset my ipod several times but the music fails to appear.  I cannot restore my Ipod because when I connect it to itunes, the program freezes up.  The application stops responding and I have to close Itunes all together.  All of my music is saved in my itunes library and I dont want to lose any of it.  Someone please help!!!
I also noticed that since the most recent itunes update I am having problems connecting to the itunes store.  It keeps saying check the internet connection and try again.  My internet works fine but for some reason itunes will not allow me to connect to the itunes store.  PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a similar problem with my 120gb classic, my ipod shows no music or any data but states that memory is full of other, I've tried everything I can think of, rebooting does nothing, connecting to pc freezes itunes and I am unable to access in disk mode either, it shows in my computer but just hangs when trying to access it, so a reformat or restore is not an option, diagnostics shows an error when checking harddrive with HDSMARTdata. I'm sorry to say that I have a feeling that our hard drives are buggered cos surely if you cant access it you can fix it. Very dissapointed with apples service as mine was an under warranty replacent which was resseting itself randomly exessively often, sometimes up to 6 times a day from when I received it, I sent it back within two days stating it had a fault only to have it sent back the next day being told its fine! It is obvious that apple have sent me a replacement ipod with a recycled hard drive which was obviously faulty from day one and now its given up the ghost, I very much regret not holding my ground and demanding a fully working replacement at the time as now I have to fork out for yet another ipod!

  • IPod Video 80GB shows "Low Battery, Please Wait" but when plugged into wall, works fine.

I have an iPod Video 80GB and it worked perfectly fine until now....when it is plugged into my computer (all ports attempted), it shows "Low Battery, Please Wait" and then when I plug it into the wall, it reboots, shows the normal silver apple, and everything is all fine. The iPod is dependent off of a power source, as it cannot function right now without one.

That's usually a good indication that the iPod's battery is shot an in need of a replacement especially considering it's from an iPod Video, which have been out for a number of years now.  You can pay Apple to have it replaced or you can send it in to a third party repair center for a bit less.
