IPod: Frozen at boot screen...for 14+ HOURS!

Last night, at 10:00 P.M., I rebooted my iPod Touch (1st gen.) because some apps were crashing. However, as of right now, over *14 hours* later, my iPod Touch is STILL in the boot screen, with the Apple logo frozen on the screen. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I have the same problem!
When I plug it in, iTunes doesn't detect it, and when it makes the little beeping sound, it just doesn't respond. I do not want to get a new iTouch!
EDIT EDIT EDIT:
I have found a solution to this problem. Kind of complicated. DO NOT EMAIL ME AT THE EMAIL ON MY PROFILE.
Email me at [email protected] if you want the method, I'll gladly give it to you.

  • Booting to safe mode? been stuck on boot screen for 2  hours? Help please

Hello, I had a problem with my Mac which I have posted previously right here, https://discussions.apple.com/message/22649979#22649979
The first reply I recieved told me to boot to safe mode, so i followed the instructions and my computer has been stuck on the white screen with the rotating loading boot thing for 2+ hours.
I have never booted to safe mode
I heard that booting to safe mode can sometimes take a while but surely not 2+ hours??
to be clear this is the screen I am talking about
I have no back ups of my computer [I know thats not smart], it is far out of warranty, I am a student that has many important documents on here and all my music and family photos. Please help. I go back to school very soon and need this computer in working order! thank you to any one that helps

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. Do not try to repair the volume if you have no backups. The result could be total, irrevocable data loss.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Phone frozen on Samsung screen for 7 hours now.

I have had my fascinate since December, upgraded to Froyo 2.2 a month or so ago only had a few little blips here and there. Today I searched for another upgrade, found one and now my phone has been stuck on the Samsung logo screen for hours. I did a system wipe, removed the battery a hundred times and nothing is resolving it...should I just take it in to Verizon...anyone have any suggestions?

While the battery is remove, hold down the vol. button for 30 seconds and then after 10 minutes, reinsert the battery.

  • HT1752 I bought a apple g4 off eBay it did a system update then when it restarted it has been on the apple boot screen for 4 hours I do not know what to do

I bought a iMac g4 on eBay it started fine I did a system update it has been rebooting for 4 hours now

A used iMac with an uncertain lineage like yours really ought to be restored using its original System Install disc. You did receive it with the iMac didn't you?
It will be a challenge to do anything without it. If the seller did not include the discs with the iMac you may be able to order a replacement set from Apple. Contact them by calling the phone number on the Apple Online Store site.
You will need the iMac's serial number and some money.

  • My iPhone was downloading iOS8 and it has been frozen on the loading screen for 5 hours

    Hi esmelicious,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be frustrating when you run into issues updating to the new iOS. In your specific situation, I would recommend placing your iPhone in what is called recovery rode and restore it from there. Please use the steps and information located in the attached link to restore using recovery mode.

    Hello bigboza,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • My mbp froze when I was trying to swipe to desktop. I did a manual restart and now it's on the apple loading screen for an hour. What should I do? :/

It is still on the apple loading screen for an hour already. Does anybody. Know what I can do?

Hold down the power button and restart whilst holding down the Command and R keys. This should take you to the Recovery partition. Use Disk Utility to both verify and repair permissions and your hard drive (if needed). See if this will get you started again.

  • When loading video or tv shows it is taking as long as 14 hours plus - if I leave the loading screen it doesn't continue to load? So you have to wait without leaving the screen for 14 hours?

When loading video or tv shows it is taking as long as 14 hours plus - if I leave the loading screen it doesn't continue to load? So you have to wait without leaving the screen for 14 hours? Unfortunately - I've been reading that this lengthy download problem is quite common - although I thought I saw where someone had loaded videos the day before and then had them to watch later. So, my first rental - I downloaded it overnight - then we go to watch it tonight and it proceeds to start loading again...saying it will be ready in 14 hours and 21 minutes!!! Am I doing something wrong here? If anyone has advice - I would greatly appreciate it. This is the first apple product that I am disappointed with

It has been on this black screen with the apple logo and some small white writing at the top of the screen for many hours. I've tried rebooting it and connecting to iTunes but nothing has worked.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

It likely means there was still water inside it and something has now shorted out and permanently damaged one or more components.  THE very worst thing you can do with wet electronics is energize them - even a small drop of water inside on any of the circuitry or electrical contacts can cause catastrophic damage.
Take it to Apple for a free evaluation, but most likely you will need to replace it.  For the out of warranty fee ($269.00 USD) you will get a refurbished replacement (like new, with a factory new screen and battery).  An out of warranty replacement will also re-instate your remaining warranty, or 90 days warranty, whichever is longer.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If under warranty, as you say (the warranty is transferable) and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

Hi, I was using my iPod Touch and then all of a sudden, the screen went black. So I held the on/off button and menu button to reboot it. So it turned off then back on but it has been stuck on the loading page for an hour. What's wrong with it?

    - Let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try here:

  • I tried to download the IOS 8.3 update but my phone has been frozen on a white loading screen for four hours. How do I fix this problem?

My phone is completely frozen and the update has not loaded for four hours. How do I fix the problem without losing all of my stuff?

You're saying you don't back up your phone regularly? You should ALWAYS back up before updating your phone. That said, try resetting first: hold down the home button and the power button for at least 10-20 seconds until you see the Apple. Hopefully you can then try to perform the update again. Start doing backups if your data is important to you.

  • IPod stuck on boot screen

         -Please help!
My 4th generation iPod with 5.1 OS is UNRESPONSIVE and is stuck on the boot logo screen.  If i hold both power and home button for 7-8 seconds, it will go black, but then just come back to the boot logo screen within 1-2 seconds without pressing anything.  Also when i try and connect the iPod to iTunes, it crashes iTunes everytime.  Also, once, after about an hour of letting it sit at the boot screen, it went white, then turned off, but it came back to the boot logo screen after another 1-2 seconds.  What can i do to solve this problem?
              -Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue! I've tried so many things but nothing is working!! It's so frustrating! I think many i touch users are facing the same issue.. must be something to do with the update!
