Ipod frozen in disk mode
Hi i wondered if anyone can help.
I just switched the hold of my ipod and it wont switch on... it just says ok to disconnect.It wont reset and states that it is in disk mode.

How to restore ipod via itunes while ipod is in disk mode?
I am trying to restore my ipod via itunes. My ipod is corrupted and I can only connect it to the computer while the ipod is in disk mode. After ipod is connected and in disk mode, the first stage of restore via itunes begins, the bar appears, fills up and then disappears. Then my ipod seems to disconnect from the computer and begin an infinite reset loop algorithm. How do I successfully restore my ipod while it is in disk mode?
I have the same problem, but my ipod stays in disk mode all the time. Won't show in iTunes.tried Apples suggestion to restore in disk utility, but no dice! I have tried everything and now I will give up, maybe it's too old?

HT4235 Itunes only sees ipod nano in disk mode and still won't sync it
I have to place my ipod nano in disk mode for itunes (or Windows for that matter) to find it. In disk mode Windows and Itunes see the ipod and it passes all the diagnostic tests save for the sync test where it can no longer see the ipod and apparently a file is also not found. I'm ready to just reset it, but am unable to make that happen.
This problem began when I downloaded some songs from Amazon and fumbled the job purchasing and downloading some of them twice. Not very smart, but it was late. Anyway, I also downloaded their Cloud player and had it pass the songs to itunes. It was in itunes that I saw the duplicate copies of the songs. Itunes and the cloud player proceeded to butt heads, I deleted the the extra song copies and also uninstalled the Amazon cloud player. Then itunes went into the state I've described above.

How to make itunes recognize ipod when in disk mode
my ipod classic was in a reboot loop and after reading up about it i put my ipod into disk mode and connected it to my pc to restore it to factory settings. However when i connected it itunes hasnt recognized it despite it appearing in my computor folder. i'm really stuck for ideas so any help at all would be very much appreciated

Need a little more info:
- What OS are you using--Mac or Windows?
- Does your nano show up in iTunes when you connect it?
- Is your 'Hold' button showing white next to it (meaning it is off)?

Ipod Classic in disk mode does not show on desktop or finder
Ipod Classic in disk mode shows in Itunes but not on desktop or in finder? Can't add any files to it.
With the Finder as the front most application, choose Finder -> Preferences -> General and make sure there is a tick mark next to CDs, DVDs, and iPods, under the option Show these items on the desktop.
Any luck there?

Does the iPod appear on your desktop as an external hard drive? Has the iPod ever successfully connected before? Disconnect your iPod and reset it using the Select (Center) and Menu button combo. Then reboot your Mac, open iTunes, and reconnect your iPod to a high powered USB 2.0 port and see if it's recognized.
Have you worked through all the troubleshooting here?

Have you tried a reset yet?
To do this on an older nano with a click wheel, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If it's a 6G Nano, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together until you see the Apple logo.
Any luck there?

My headphones broke and I didnt use my ipod nano for about a month then i bought some new ones and when I tried to put new songs on the ipod it keeps telling me I need to re configure it or something I finally got it to work and i got more songs and tried to put them on and it was taking up space but the songs were not appearing so then i went to the updater and tried to clean everything off the ipod and it said error then i got a message with the folder telling me to go to support I did and tried the menu and select and i downloaded the newest updater and it says ipod service error so I cant clear it or do anything and as of right now it says Disk mode with a check mark that says okay to disconnect and it wont turn off the light wont come on and the wheel wont click HELP!
Windows XPOkay i got out of the frozen disk mode and im back to the folder so im going to try all of the r's again and see what happens

Ipod stuck in disk mode not reconized by itunes
my 4 gb ipod nano recently got all of my songs erased off it and i couldn't put any back on in itunes.
i tried the 5 r's (did nothing) and after d/c then hooked it back into itunes, itunes didn't reconize the ipod (but windows still does).
when i tried to restore it to factory settings it put it in disk mode and i can't get it back to normal after many attempts.
i uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and my ipod. still didn't fix the problem
i ran cmd and did the chkdsk and even the format E: and it says that the file system is RAW. please use the fs/ switch to specify the file system you wish to use on this volume.
when i try to use the ipod updater it now freezes on me.
i don't know if this helps but when i turn on the ipod that file folder w/ exclaimation point comes up and tells me to go to www.apple.com/support/ipod
i did. tried everythign they said. nothing.
do i take my ipod back to the store or what?ahh! mines doing the same thing!!! i dunno what to do. i hate ipods. the only reason i have this one is cause i won it off the radio. -_-

IPod stuck in Disk Mode(Restart won't work)
My iPod is stuck in disk mode, and no matter how many times I restart it, it stays in this. I've tried the 5R's and I've tried restarting it. Is there any other fixes?
I know, you have tried a Restart and the 5Rs, but can you try the Hard Reset, as below disconnected from the PC.
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
