IPod frozen...now what?

My iPod is frozen on the 'do not disconnect' screen and no matter what I do, it won't unfreeze. I can hear it running though. What should I do?

Please do a Reset, press "select"+"menu"

  • I was downloading updates for ipod touch 2nd gen and twice when I was to processing files stage it clicked off. There was no message on whether it was done or what I was to do next. I needed to reset the ipod. Now what do I do?

I was downloading updates for Ipod touch 2nd gen and when the process was to the processing files point the screen changed and I wasn't given any idea as to whether the process was complete or not and if it was what was to be done next. I needed to reset the Ipod and now I am wondering what to do . Spend another Hour downloading and whatever amount on processing files and end up where I am now . Whats the next step in finding out what to do? This was the second attempt to do this with the first try happening the same except I am not sure how long the processing files part was.. Any suggestions as to what to try will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

Likely a batter problem since high temperatures destroy a battery.  I wold make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to see what they say.  It is free except for your time.

  • Quick question: I restored my iPod.  Now what?

I just restored my iPod (to those who helped me earlier, thank you). Now I'm getting this symbol:
    Power adapter plugging into wall
This icon appears on the screen during an update or restore that occurs when iPod is connected to the computer via a low or no-power connector. This can include some USB ports and 4-pin FireWire ports. When this appears, disconnect iPod from the computer and connect it to the power adapter. Then plug the power adapter into a power outlet. The update or restore will complete and iPod will restart to the main menu.
What if I don't have a power adapter? Is my only option to buy one?

It probably just needs to be charged, you really don't need a power adapter because iPods charge via USB ports to your computer, because your tower supplies USB devices with an electrical currency to charge it.
Try letting your iPod charge with the connection after the update (if iTunes recognises it) and leave it for about 2 hours. If nothing happens/iTunes doesn't recognise your computer/Windows and iTunes don't recognise your iPod, try reading up these articles:

  • Had my ipod fixed now what!?

I had my 3rd Generation Ipod checked out and they already sent me one new one, this was in March of 2005. Now I see black lines appear when my battery is low, my music sometimes is not playing, or skips. Will apple fix it again, now that my warranty of the new battery is still in tact. Also does anyone know about that apple law suit that dealt with the 3rd gen. ipods? What happened with all of that stuff! thanks
    Lindsey

Apple should fix your iPod if it's still under warranty, it matters not that it's been sent in once already.

  • IPod stolen, now what?

My iPod was recently just stolen out of my locked car, not even in plain sight. What is the world coming to? But thats besides the point. Now I have a problem.
My entire iTunes collection is still on my computer, but when I plug a new iPod in (which I will be getting soon) what's going to happen? Are there going to be any issues with putting all my music on another device?
Also, everything I had was on the stolen iPod. I assume the theives simply reformatted the drive, but if they didn't, is it possible that they could somehow acquire the liscenses for the songs or perhaps even get any account information?
    This really *****. Please help.
    ABS, Windows XP Home

You shouldn't have any issues connecting the new iPod to your current iTunes.
    As far as I know, the thieves can't get any information from your iPod;
as for licenses-->the purchased music from the iPod won't play on any other computer because they will need to be authorized with your username and password.

  • I tried to reset my husband iPhone and its frozen now what should i do ??

I tried to reset my husband iPhone i went to settings>general>reset>erase and its frozen right now its not letting me to turn it on what should i do??!!

    Try recovery mode.

  • Tried everything - receiver and regular Ipod volume - now what?

I have gone threw trouble-shooting instructions: Power on and off, did reset,
and restore. Got on this forum and tried the suggestion of plugging in headset over and over, both powered on and off.
Speaker works when the phone rings, when answering the caller cannot hear me unless I select "speaker" mode. Headset works with Ipod but nothing without them. I can see the volume move when using the volume control.
It appears that is is time to send to Apple, unless anyone knows of something I have missed?

Well, just tried cleaning the plug with rubbing alcohol, but still nothing.
I did not mention earlier, that everything working great. But, recently two variables were different. One was the upgrade from Apple. The second is bought a system to play over my car speaks, it is the type that is put in the tape deck. Had to get a Adapter Kit to plug that into the phone.
I bought the system, tried it and all seemed fine (but got no calls at the time). Did the upgrade that night. The next day listen to music in the vechicle was fine. When I got a call I could not be heard by the caller.
Later I found out about the Ipod not working on the regular speaker. Had not used that after the upgrade. So, not sure if either of this had anything to do the problem I am having.
I will try to keep the Headset plugged in. Don't know what else to do.
We do not have a repair center here. It was purchased at an AT & T store, but they stated they do not service them. That would result in me sending in or
    driving approx. 100 miles.
    Thanks everyone!

  • Dead iPod mini -- now what?

Hi, I have a 6GB iPod mini that suddenly went completely dead. Absolutely no signs of life on its LCD panel, even when plugged into a USB jack or a charger/speaker device. When I turned it on a few days ago I saw the "low battery" icon flash briefly, but it went dead immediately after that and has stayed dead. I am wondering if this means the battery has gone completely dead -- but if so, shouldn't it power up when plugged into an external power source? Or would a dead battery prevent even that from happening? How can I find out for sure what is wrong with it? I've seen battery replacement kits for very little money so I wouldn't mind giving that a try, but obviously if it is going to be much more expensive then I suppose I'd be better off getting a new iPod (though the mini meets all my needs so I'd rather not have to do that!)
    Thanks,
    Samizdat

    Hi,
Have you connected it to your computer? If not, connect it, then try resetting the mini. Hold down the Menu and Select (Center) buttons for 6 seconds, or until you get an Apple logo on the screen. See if that works. If not, post back.
Even if the battery is dead, the iPod should be recognized on your computer. Sometimes plugging it into an external power source doesn't do the trick.

  • I was updating my ipod touch now i have a picture of the itune symbol and a conection lead and it seems frozen what can i do ?, i was updating my ipod touch now i have a picture of the itune symbol and a conection lead and it seems frozen what can i do ?

I was updating my ipod touch now it is frozen and has a picture of the itunes symbol and a conector lead any ideas how to stop this ?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My laptop died in the middle of updating my iPhone 4 and now my phone is frozen. What do I do?

My laptop died in the middle of updating my iPhone 4 and now my phone is frozen. What do I do?

First try forcing it to shut down: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.
If you don't get anywhere, restoring it is the next step:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector)release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

    Hello there MizzouTrojan,
If I understand correctly you want all 6 devices to have access to a single calendar that each device gets notifications for and can edit. You can do that with an private iCloud shared calendar. First sign into www.icloud.com and use these steps from the following article to share a calendar:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
    Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • How can I display the ipod on my interactive board? I purchased the cable I was told to buy, but now what?

I want to be able to connect an iPod to an interactive whiteboard.  I was told by a presentor to buy a special cable, which I did, but now what?  Do I need a certain app?  I want to use the board to display apps to teachers to show them how to use them.  Help.

Unless I've missed something, your iPod touch does not support mirroring the screen to an external display, so unless the apps you want to teach output to video, showing the app's interface, not just content, you will not be able to use your whiteboard to demo those apps. You'll probably need something like a document camera so you can show the iPod's screen on an external display.
    Regards.

I tried to sync my ipod to itunes but it said i needed to restore my ipod. So I restored my ipod deleting everything on it. None of my songs transferred to my ipod and I honestly don't know what to do. Help please:(

    - Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
