IPod frozen on diagnostic screen

For a few days my iPod has been frozen on a screen I've never seen before. It says "Accessorize Test" across the top and below it says:
Please plug FW
LCD IC : 1
FWPWR : 0
None of this makes any sense to me, and, like I said, I've never seen this screen before. I've tried resetting my iPod, but it won't respond. I've plugged it into the computer as well as a wall charger, but to no avail. I've run out of ideas and I'm hoping someone can help me!

My 80 gig buzzes and clicks when I try to use it. Someimtes plays a bit of a song, then stops. When plugged into the computer it does not show up in itunes. If I go to My Computer it might show up as my f drive. If I click on it, it freezes every program that is running, including the My Computer window. Doesn't work in any of three players we have. Worked in all of them a week ago. Yes, we did update itunes. Yes, we tried to restore. Bootom line, if I plug it in, it freezes anything that is running as soon as I click on the ipod. SO we can't take any other correctie steps. Oooh. It just gave me a frowny face and sent me here to itunes support. And why isn't there a genius online instaed of user forums? Any hints? my ipod nano 4 gb is stuck on diagostic screen no matter how many times i try to reset by holding the menu and the center key it reboots to the same green diagnostic screen pls help and if remove the usb cable it shuts off completly

Sounds like a hardware issue. For one the battery seems to be completely shot since the iPod does not have the ability to stay powered on once disconnected for an external power source.
Time to send in your iPod for service either to Apple or a third party repair company. Or start saving for a new iPod.

IPod: Frozen at boot screen...for 14+ HOURS!

Last night, at 10:00 P.M., I rebooted my iPod Touch (1st gen.) because some apps were crashing. However, as of right now, over *14 hours* later, my iPod Touch is STILL in the boot screen, with the Apple logo frozen on the screen. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I have the same problem!
When I plug it in, iTunes doesn't detect it, and when it makes the little beeping sound, it just doesn't respond. I do not want to get a new iTouch!

IPOD Frozen on Language Screen

After restoring my IPOD I am now stuck on the language screen. I try resetting and it still just shows the language screen. Can someone help?

Same here, but I just received iPod from Apple.com store....resets o.k. but comes right back to frozen in language screen. attempted reset several times, also restore with iPod updater...no luck. Did i get a LEMON????? Unit works o.k. in ITunes, I can save and read to it in disk mode. HHHEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!

Ipod frozen at language screen, tried 4 R's, computer says device malfunc

Last night I tried to put new music on my ipod, but right as it was ending, it flashed a message saying that it had failed. I checked the music on my ipod and it had indeed failed to update my music. So, I tried resetting it and that resulted in my device being frozen on the language screen. I checked here and decided to try and let the battery wear down and then connecting it to a different computer. So, I tried connecting it to my computer here at work and my computer is failing to recognize the device and saying it has malfunctioned and that I should replace it. I've tried resetting it and then reconnecting it to the computer and that has failed. I re-installed iTunes and then reconnected the ipod and that has failed. (Yes, I'm productive at work today) Do I need to send it in to be repaired? It's only a year old. It was working exquisitely prior to me trying to put new music on it.

I have a 30GB iPod...last night it froze for the 2nd time. I am using it on my motorcycle when this happens...attached to a "2 Wheel Tunes" stereo system. Is it freezing because of the vibration of the bike? Any answers...from ANYBODY will be greatly appreciated!!

80G iPod frozen - constant white screen

I was watching a movie on netflix on my ipod and then the movie got frozen and I could not touch anything. I waited then it went to a black screen with a frozen loading symbol what do I do? I called support and they didn't help at all.

Ipod frozen on white screen

Last Friday my daughter started downloading the new OS update for her iPod touch. The download was interrupted, and her iPod has been frozen on a white screen ever since. We have tried the solution everyone has mentioned (rebooting by holding the two buttons down until the apple logo shows up) but nothing happens. We have run the battery completely down several times, recharged and tried again, but still no change. The iPod won't turn off, and when we plug it into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize that it has been plugged in. What can we do to fix this?

Ipod frozen with white screen

My ipod has stuck and frozen with a white screen when i go to start it up. It will not shut off and will not respond to any touch movements. When plugged in to the computer, I-Tunes does not recognize it. Please help!

I have had it two years and this is the first issue. My main concern is that the computer does not recognize it in order to reinitialize it. It wont shut off, it wornt do anything, I am just loking for a guide before I have to send it in for repair/replace... I am not feeling much good from the boards, but I am gonna be patient and see if someone stumbles across my please for help-- this cant be the first time someone has had and fixed this problem....

Updated software and restored ipod = frozen on apple screen

I don't know what to do! I've tried everything I have found that's supposed to help it work. I updated the software and restored my ipod...backed everything up. Went to plug in my ipod to sync it with itunes and it's frozen on the apple screen with a bar underneath indicating the process and it is frozen. I can't get anywhere but here. I've tried several times.
Any suggestions???

IPod frozen on password screen

Ok, here's the deal... my iPod has always frozen somewhat after a battery drain. The battery dies, I plug it in to recharge, it comes up to the passcode screen, and for a few minutes I can't enter my password & it's completely frozen. Usually after a couple of minutes, it unfreezes and I can then enter my password. But now, for the past few days, it freezes and sticks. It also seems to keep resetting itself... it's frozen, then the little spinning icon shows up behind the passcode screen, it stays that way for a while, then makes its little "beeping" noise, the passcode screen comes up new, and then the thing freezes and the whole thing starts all over again. I've tried resetting it many times, but it still stays frozen. I've managed to eventually get the thing to unfreeze, but tonight it just isn't doing it. I've reset it many times but it's still stuck. Any ideas, anyone?

hey i tried the home and lock key 2 and it did freeze. but now try holding down just th lock/unlock key. it worked 4 me.

My ipod touch is frozen on the apple screen. I tried to reboot it but it doesnt do anything and when i try to hook it up to the computer to sync, it will no sync. what should i do? I try to hold the home key and the on/off key at the same time and it will turn off but when i turn it back on,all you see is the apple symbol.

There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site. If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

HELP: Ipod frozen in diagnostic mode, "hpdetect hp fail"

Hi there - any help on this would be highly appreciated - my ipod began displaying the "unhappy ipod" sign and when I plugged it in to my computer, windows said it had malfunctioned and needed resetting. I tried resetting it manually (menu and select) and then by fluke managed to enter diagnostic mode. Tried going into reset, but it didn't appear to do anything, went into HP TEST, and it came up as HPDETECT HP FAIL, and has not budged since. I can't seem to exit diagnostic mode, go onto any other tests or reset it. There are no mechanical noises coming from it either. Any ideas how to get out of this and how to get my ipod working again?

The sad iPod icon is almost certainly indicative of a hard drive failure which the diagnostic test would seem to confirm.

Ipod frozen with sync screen even after battery has died and been recharged

My wifes ipod nano 3rd generation is stuck on the sync screen even after it has been unplugged, the battery has died, and it has been recharged again.

In my opinion the only the only one that you can do is updating the BIOS as Akuma suggested. This problem is not software related so thats the only option you have I think. You can download the newest BIOS version here:

If not, contact an authorized service provider please. The guys can fix all hardware related problems can diagnose this problem. Maybe the mainboard or something else must be exchanged.

IPod frozen on one screen

I turned my iPod on about an hour after taking it off of my iHome. When I turned the iPod on, it had a "play" icon, the battery had a plug in it, and the backlight would not turn off. I tried resetting it, but this did not do anything. Even now, it's still on that same screen.

You don't need to completely drain the battery.
1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.
2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or the computer and reset it.
