Ipod frozen on screen with hour glass, comp wont recognise

My Nano is frozen, the screen is blank with an hour glass thingy in the middle.
When I plug into computer, it tells me it has recognised new hardware etc., then computer doesnt recognise the ipod .... the screen is still on the hour glass thingy
Can someone please help

Hey, I am facing the same problem with my ipod 8GB black version.
I tried connecting my ipod to my laptop (Windows Vista) and to my PC(Windows XP), tried downloading USB drivers and using the Reset utility from Apple site. Nothing works and the ipod just shows the hourglass.
Can anyone suggest a solution please?

  • White screen with hour glass

I purchased a bb 8320 unlocked phone about a week ago worked great until today was trying to change the voicemail notification from vibrate to a sound and the screen went white and started showing an hour glass this would not go away. I tried doing a os reload using desktop 4.7 and os 4.5 for rogers. It started ok but got to step 2 reinitialzing and it sounded like i was plugging in  the  usb and unplugging it, and the red light on the BB was flashing at the same time after a while i got a error message that read "unable to reconnect to device during a multistage load operation" I then checked the blackberry device manager and under com port 3 it says disconnected when i check the desktop manager on the task bar it says disconnected. another thing i noticed when i first opened the desktop manager and clicked update software a little window opened that said device connection the first time it listed a pin no.(no i did not write it down) now it says usb pin unknown but keeps toggleing between that and select a device. the BB will not do anything now but flash the red light very slowly on and off
any advice or did i buy a lemon, can it be fixed

  • My comp wont recognise my mp3!!!! urgent!!

my comp wont recognise my zen v+ mp3 player and iv installed the zen v series package.iv tried the support site but i dont no what to do.how do i get my comp to recognise it's?wb asap

If you have another USB cable lying around, try that and see if it works. There are times the whole problem just lies with the USB Cable.
If it fails, unplug the unit for 0 secs and plug it in again and see if anything shows up.

  • My ipod 4th generation is stuck with hour glass spinning ,I cant shut it off or do anything nyone know what to do?

My ipod touch 4th generation is stuck aand hour glass just keeps spinning. My wife tried to reset it to the original factory setting s last night with out it being hooked up to the computer and it has been stuck ever since. What can I do to shut it down. The button is not responding.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod frozen white screen after cancelled wifi system update

  • Ipod Freeze - Black screen with Apple keeps appearing

Recently my Ipod starting to randomly "freeze" while playing a song. (The black screen with the white apple shows up) It doesn't happen all that often, but enough that it bugs me.
My Ipod is pretty new, I bought it in August. Anyone know what's wrong? Should I contact Apple? Thanks.

If you do a Windows Search for music files, or use the Windows Explorer to view your hard drive contents, there are columns that show you filenames, file sizes, types, etc.
If you right clik on the column header (up on top where it says "fileName" or "file size"), a list of optional columns will appear, and you when you pick one, a new column will appear showing the details of whatever you chose. So if you pick the "genre", a Genre column will open in that window and show you the genres of every song on the screen. There is also a "Channels" column, which will show you the number of channels the file is encoded in (i.e. Mono, Stereo) Once you have that column showing, you can then Sort the files in the folder based on that column by left cliking on the column header (where it says "channels"). That will group all of your Mono songs togther, at which point you can easily move them out of the Ituns library as a group, re-encode them to Stereo, or just delete them altogether.
But all of that still won't get them off the Ipod, unless you follow the above process on the Ipod itself rather than your hard drive. But I think it's easier to get rid of the files off the computer then re-sync the Ipod using ITunes, which will erase the unwanted (mono) tracks.

  • IPOD frozen after use with Jensen car stereo with IPOD control cable

I recently installed a Jensen MSR7007 stereo and connected the IPOD mini with a special Jensen cable that allows the IPOD to be controlled from the radio without having to touch the IPOD. It works beautifully and the IPOD display reads "JENSEN RADIO" while it is playing. However when I disconnected the IPOD it was frozen (locked up) with the Jensen Radio display still on it. It was inoperable when I disconnected it and I couldn't even turn it off.
    Please Help.

I am having a similar problem - I just purchased a pioneer DEH-P690UB indash car stereo, but I can not get the radio to recognize my iPod mini (N/A USB). The installar has a newer iPod, which worked when he tested the system, so I have been looking for the new firmware to see if that will help.
Can anyone direct me to the firm ware downloads?

  • I cleaned my screen with method glass and surface cleaner and now the color is off.  What can i do?

I cleaned my screen with methid galss and surface cleaner and now the color is off on my screen...What can I do?

Clean it again, very carefully with a cloth dampened with water only (NOT WET), if it will not come back to normal you can have the screen replaced by Apple, this will not be under warranty.
From now on just use a damp (NOT WET) cloth and a lot of care.
Never spray on the screen, always have the iMac off when cleaning with any kind of conductive fluids (water)

    New to this forum

Just got my new iMac 21.5 over to Thailand and hooked it up the other day. Everything seemed to be working fine.
This morning I started it up and no problems till I went exploring the 'dock bar' and clicked on 'downloads', then clicked some sort of cloud formation symbol I couldn't exactly make out.
The computer now appears frozon in this state of a black screen with a smaller pic of thick grey clouds. Nothing I do seems to change this situation, even turning on and off the machine. HELP please

  • Frozen up screen with an icon of a battery with a red slash thru it??

I've never seen this one before. Out of the blue, my screen goes kinda dim and pic of a battery with red line stoking through it (kind of like a no smoking sign). It's frozen....no buttons do anything.
I've taken the batter out and re-inserted it, plugged in the charger....nothing works. What's going on here? Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Granton

The device doesn't recognize the battery as being inserted, OR more likely sees no charge on the battery.
Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
If it doesn't boot--try using a wall outlet charger if you are not. If you are connected via USB to the PC, make certain that you have Desktop Manager (or the USB device drivers) installed, which you can download below.
Make certain your USB cable is connected to one of the PC's main rear USB ports. Not a USB hub, nor a monitor USB port, nor a USB port on the front of the PC.

My iPad was backing up prior to updating the software. Something happened and the screen frozen with an iTunes logo and a lightening cord. I've tried a soft reset, which makes it disappear for 10 seconds then the same logo and cable appear.
