IPod gave electric shock!

Three weeks ago i bought 30gb video iPod. And in these two weeks i got shocked by iPod two times. It occured when i connected ipod to my PowerMac G5. But i haven't got shocked at work (MacPro) where i connect and disconnect it more oftenly. Is this bad for iPod or is it my G5? I've noticed that after the shock my mac was giving a little electricity shock.

Even though you have checked the first obvious signs, there is something wrong in Denmark (a fish, as they say.) There has to be a grounding issue. I will go to an electrical specialist we have on staff, I do not see him here today, but will get back to this thread if he has a suggestion. A person in our audio department says "get it fixed, or get rid of it, that is dangerous." I tend to agree with him. We do want to see you back here posting in good health.
Don't make us worry and please see if you can get someone to look at the situation. I also have questions: Are you the only one being shocked? Are there any atmospheric anomalies in your area right now (atmospheric, humidity etc.) Let me know.

IPod Touch electric shock.

I have an iPod Touch 4G. When I connect the usb to my computer and the 30-pin to my iTouch, it gives me electric shocks. As it is, the iPod Touch 4G has a metal back, and it really conducts the current. Fortunately, i have a rubber case for the back, so it won't hurt me. I removed thee 30-pin and the charge is at the two sides and the top of the pin. Ok, I tried to lick it, there is still the current. But there is no current when I connect the cable to the USB Wall Adapter. Does anyone know why there is so much current?

Since no problem with a wall charger that suggests a problem with the USB port on your computer.

Aluminum iMac + iPod Classic = Electrical Shock!

If I happen to touch the aluminum case of my iPod Classic and either the iMac's aluminum frame or the aluminum keyboard, I get a nice 110-volt AC shock. The iPod isn't generally connected to the iMac--it's connected only to a sound system through the headphone outlet. It's not connected to an AC power source.
Anyone have an idea what's happening? The iMac is grounded. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

To test polarized (ungrounded) circuits in an older home you really need a multi meter and a ground source or a Non-Contact tester to check for proper polarity.

Also note: that for both grounded and polarized (ungrounded) outlets the 110v a/c power should be coming from the smaller of the two blade slots.

My iPod gave me electric shocks

My iPod is out of warrenty by 3 months and has given me 2 electric shocks in the past 2 weeks.
The first happened when playing a video when it was around 40 minutes on an the second happened when playing a a game after being on for about 15 minutes.
Both happened with nothing plugged in. It is a 4th genration iPod.
Please reply as to what i can do as getting an electric shock is a pretty big deal.

Could it just be static electricity? I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store if you are concered. I find it hard to believe tha the iPod not connected to anything (computer, wall charger) would cause a shock.

ELeCtrIc SHOCK!!! from connecting my ipod to tv

I bought my Ipod-5th generation (80Gb)about 6 months ago and didn't buy the AV connection kit until a month ago. Just recently, I found that everytime I plug in the AV cable to my TV, there is an elEcTriC SHOCK whenever I touch the back (metal) cover of my Ipod (I hold my ipod on one hand while plugging in the cable). I immediately unplug the cable just in case it will damage my Ipod. However, I didn't give up and I tried a couple of times, ended up having the same problem (getting shocked a couple of times too).
I wonder what's wrong with my Ipod or is it a problem of the AV cable? Should I keep trying until I get immuned by the current shock.
Is anyone having the same problem or knowing what the problem or solution is?
Help is much appreciated.

It's not the iPod and it's not the cable. It's your TV.
In Malaysia, does your AC mains power plug fit in the receptacle one and only one way? If it fits only one way, then the problem that I'm thinking of can not happen. However, *IF you are able to rotate the plug* and insert it differently, try that and see if it helps.
If it's not the power plug, your TV has a serious problem.
+*By the way, DON'T try to use your iPod with the TV until this is resolved!*+

Electric shock fom iPod touch....

Okay so I plugged my iPod into the wall to charge whilst doing so I went on to the Internet to check something out. Then I received a massive electric shock when I locked my iPod. Is there anything I can do to prevent this as it has happened lots before???

Could be a problem with the charger or iPod. Does it happen with another wall charger

Electric shock while charging IPod Nano 3rd Gen

Hello.
I bought a new IPod Nano 3rd Generation (4 gigabytes) and I noticed that, if I touch it while it's connected to my PC, it gives me an electrical shock. It's not a hard shock, but you can feel your finger shake and your arm weakens (it's kinda funny. xD)
To experience this, you mustn't have shoes, obviously.
I'd like to know if this is natural or if I should change it for a new one.
I believe it's something bad because the IPod runs out of battery quickly, but I play Solitaire a lot, so I don't know if it's my fault. :s

BTW this same problem came up back in August and then I suggested to the poster that a bad line cord might be the issue. Turns out that is exactly what it was...

Ipod Electric Shock

Hi.
I got my Ipod for Christmas so its new and when i plug it into the computer (pc) to charge, somtimes when I touch it (mostly when my feet are of the ground) I get and electric shock ranging from weak-to-medium. The shock goes for about 2 seconds and goes all the way up my arm.
Is this a "normal" thing that happens with all Ipod Touches?
Is it damaging my screen or battery life at all?
Should I swap it for a new one?

A wire in the iPod must have come loose and is touching the case. You must take that to an Apple Retail Store to be checked.
Unlikely. I would expect the issue to be a problem with the grounding of the computer being used. In any event, the poster should have the problem investigated.

Ipod 4 giving me electric shocks

When my ipod touch gen4 is plugged into the wall charger it gives me an electric shock. I have been to apple and swapped my ipod for a new one and that ipod is doing exactly the same, i also tried a different wall adaptor, usb cord and different powerpoint and the ipod is still giving me a shock. This shock has also gotten stronger when i downloaded iso6 to my ipod. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Ungrounded wallsockets should not be fatal for a MacBook Pro as long as there aren't too many surges and spikes in the powergrid where you live. If you don't have a choice in using ungrounded sockets, or if you're getting static electricity shocks even when you are using a grounded wallsocket, you could look towards solutions like these:

Charger broke my laptop and gave me electric shock, can i get them to repair/buy a new one?

Mainly because it's half the price of the official charger and recieved relatively decent reviews. How foolish i was.
After a week, i plugged it in and sparks came from the charger. My Macbook instantly turned off, losing everything i was working on. I thought it might have been a one off, so i have turning the electric off and on again at the wall, i picked the charger up and instantly got an electric shock myself. I admit, i yelped like i never thought i could yelp. Scared me though especially after hearing of Asians being shocked to death this year by non-official Apple chargers.
So thanks to this charger, my Macbook is now broke. I have tried two other working chargers, and although they 'power' the Macbook, they don't charge it. It's also been running slower and heating up more than it did before. I have changed batteries and chargers but they don't fix it, and neither does resetting my PRAM or SMC settings.
Also, this isn't some random eBay company from China. This is a British company called Lavolta who specialise in Electronics.
I've just wrote to the company demanding a refund and a repair/new macbook pro. I don't think i should have to lose hundreds of pounds because they sold be a faulty and dangerous item. I told them if i'm not satisfied with their response i am prepared to go to the press or to the police about this.
Do you think i've got a case?

Now you know why it is unwise to use 3rd party chargers.
You may have a case but stop talking about it here, everything you post is evidentiary, stating that you bought it because it was cheap and that you expected it to be less than the official item is not helpful to your case, neither is admitting that you repeatedly reconnected it after the incident where sparks flew.
Engage a solicitor if you wish to pursue this, and no more postings until you're under his/her advice.

ELECTRIC SHOCK with iPod and Powerbook

leaning over my powerbook (right arm touching casing) to select track on my mini which is in bose sounddock - WHOA! electric trickle through my arm! i must've completed the circuit! certainly woke me up this morning. who needs coffee?
