Ipod Gen 6 crashes on ejecting

Hi,
My Ipod Gen 6 has a problem with crashing when I eject from itunes on my Laptop. It dies the second I disconnect and will not respond at all. It basically only lights up when connected to my laptop. It seemed to have resolved this a few months ago but this problem has returned and won't go away. I've ejected from the menu and then disconnected, taken updates, done a complete re set and re loaded my music but to no success. Any ideas anyone please?

If the iPod is unable to remain powered on when removed from an external power source, that's a likely indicator of a dead battery.  You can choose to Apple swap out the battery for a flat fee or a third party service center who can do the same job for a little less.

  • IPod Touch Hard Crash Using Safari?

I just purchased a brand new iPod Touch 4th Gen a couple of days ago. Nothing has even been put on the Ipod, I've actually only used it for surfing the internet. I have already read up on Ipod resets and Safari kicking people back out to the Dashboard, however mine was a little different and I'm a little concerned.
I was on Facebook, and the system just went to a straight black screen. The screen remained black and the Ipod wouldn't respond. Sleep/Wake did not work, and neither did the Power/Lock to return the system back on. I plugged the Touch into a Mac and PC via usb but not connection was made. I also tried to power the Ipod in the wall mount but that did not work as well.
Finally, I restarted the system with a hard boot and got the system up and running.
What my main concern is that I haven't come across this problem yet and worried that there may be an issue with the Ipod. Usually crashes will bring you back to the Dashboard, however this was a nasty crash.
Is this normal or should I return it to Apple?
    Thank you for any advice

I doubt if it is the magnets but it is more likely that case is pushing on the Sleep/Wake button. I don't believe the gen 1 and gen 2 iPods are the same size.
You can test the magnet theory by turning your iPod on and moving the magnets over the device.

  • Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps?

Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps? I have a 32 gb 4th gen iPod Touch with only 11gb used, and I currently run 6.1.5 Everytime I run a high memory app, without fail it crashes. These apps include but are not limited to instagram, infinity blade, subway surfer, gmail, clear vision 3, dropbox, and even Safari has crashed on multiple occasions. I tried resetting the settings and that seemed to work for about a day but now I'm back at square one.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod 80GB Classic crashes iTunes

    Hey all,
I'm having serious problems with my iPod classic. About a month or two ago, I had to take my iPod to a genius bar at my local Apple store, because whenever I plugged my iPod into my computer, iTunes would slow down drastically to the point where it was unusable, and it would randomly freeze when I attempted to sync music and movies to my iPod. One day I was listening to music on my iPod in the morning. I turned it off and tried playing music again around seven hours later to find that my iPod had deleted everything on it WITHOUT being plugged into a computer, and decided that it had its 80 gig hardrive full, even though it was claiming that there were no songs, movies, photos, podcasts, or audiobooks. The aforementioned visit to the genius bar resulted in me simply having to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Following that, iTunes had no trouble syncing my iPod and the iPod no longer suffered from these symptoms.
However, now they are starting to reappear. Whenever I plug my iPod in, iTunes simply freezes. I am unable to move anywhere, and Windows tells me that the program is not responding. The iPod itself claims to be connected, and when I go to My Computer, Windows recognizes that the iPod is connected. If I click on the iPod in My Computer, however, Windows Explorer freezes, and it also stops responding. Only a few days prior to this, my iPod began to slow down iTunes, and while the program never froze, iTunes couldn't sync to my iPod. It would begin the syncing process, get to random number such as 40, 53, or something, and iTunes would just freeze. The syncing symbol would disappear off of the iPod's screen and it would go to the connected screen, while iTunes would still claim to be syncing. After hours of waiting and multiple attempts, each attempted sync would result in me having to manually shut down my computer to unplug my iPod and restart iTunes. Thinking that this was the same problem as before, I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and restored my iPod. However, the problem persists, and now I have nothing on my iPod at all, with the exception of the three games Klondike, Vortex, and another whose name escapes me. Whenever I try and play Vortex, my iPod automatically shuts itself down and restarts with the screen that displays a silver Apple icon. Even if I don't connect my iPod to my computer and am forced to disconnect my iPod from the computer without ejecting prior, it'll send me to that silver Apple icon screen, and ask for my language.
Is my iPod corrupted? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, I've been pulling my hair out with this crap too. The odd thing is, this started happening to me after I upgraded from iTunes 8 to 9.1 also, but I'm certain that isn't the culprit.
I'm thinking this iPod freezing iTunes while syncing error is a hardware issue. All signs are pointing in that direction.
I have a library of 9400+ songs. Whenever I try to sync to my 80GB iPod Classic, it gets to around 5.62GB (~900 songs or so) and then freeze. Unplugging the iPod causes it to say "OK to disconnect" then the progress bar fills in and then instead of returning to the OS, it reboots and either loses a large sum of the library (I'm assuming the database wasn't updated completely, but some files were added to it, so it only sees those) or it sees no music at all. Of course, that's because the database wasn't updated because it froze up and lost connection before it could do so.
After restoring my iPod dozens of times, I eventually tried using Winamp to sync music to my iPod since iTunes refused to do the job. However, Winamp locked up the same way iTunes would. It would copy a handful of music and freeze. Nothing would work until physically unplugging the iPod at which point, all applications immediately resume normal function.
I went as far as to completely wipe my system drive (was due for a upgrade anyway) and installed Windows 7 (I was previously on Vista). Got settled on the new OS and installed the latest iTunes + Quicktime (9.1) and tried syncing my iPod. Same issue. >:(
After reading through here, I figured I would try downgrading iTunes since I have nothing to lose. Uinstalled 9.1, got an installer for iTunes 8.2.1 and got it running, but it too is having the same issue.
So it is almost definitely not the software that is syncing with the iPod. I haven't noticed anything else acting up that would make me suspect a hardware malfunction though. But I also don't copy such a large amount of files to any other device. :/
Next things on my list to troubleshoot:
-Try syncing my old 5th Gen 30GB iPod Video and my 8GB iPod Touch
-Try manually copying a lump of music files to the iPod disk storage.
I believe if the copying process freezes up when manually transferring files to the device, then there is a hardware issue that is forcing the device to lose connection to the PC when a large or certain amount of data is transferred via USB.
Otherwise, it could simply be the iPod itself, or the hard drive inside it that is failing and not allowing all this data to be copied/written to it.
I really wish Apple could look into this though. I've searched it up several times and I found a ton of forum posts with people describing the same issue, but never a solution.
To any of the people already posting in this thread, what have you been doing with this? I notice it's been a couple months since most of the posts in here, so either you guys got a new media player, or found a fix or something. Please update us on anything you've found or suspect the issue is.
I'll be updating any of my findings as I trek through this awful experience.

  • IPod Gen 5 (late 2006), 30GB, Black, will not sync with prior iTunes or current

I have an iPod, Gen 5 (late 2006), 30GB, Black, I had kept unopened for a while (purchased in 2007 and opened it in 2008-09). I retrieved the iPod Gen 5, opened, and did sync it with my PC-Windows 7, one (1) time. I uploaded my music and it worked fine.
I obtained new music and after uploading the added music, I attached my iPod Gen 5 to the PC-Win 7, at which time a window popped open stating there was something wrong with the "data storage," requesting Win 7 to perform a system check on the "data system" or "continue without checking." I chose the latter. This caused the iTunes & PC to freeze. Nothing worked, even the Task Manager would not shut it down. The only way to unfreeze everything was to restart the computer. After searching iTunes Support, doing everything suggested, including totally uninstalling iTunes (no trace to be found) and then re-installed iTunes. Re-synced the music library and then attempted to re-sync my iPod Gen 5. Everything started all over again.
I took my iPod Gen 5 to the Apple Store - Genius Bar where an employee was able to sync the iPod Gen 5 with the Mac computer at the store. The iPod Gen 5 worked perfectly. I respectfully requested the employee to reformat/restore the iPod Gen 5 with their Mac computer, again, my iPod Gen 5 still worked.
I went home in attempt to sync my iPod Gen 5 with my Windows PC (Win 7), and again, everything froze--iTunes and the PC. I waited several weeks and searched further on Apple.com/support to seek any other answers. However, none were found. Uninstalled and re-installed iTunes 2-3 times and still kept freezing iTunes and my PC. Went back to Apple Store-Genius Bar and my iPod synced just fine with the Mac computer. Reqested to restore on site and took it home, just to have all the problems to start all over again with the PC and iTunes problems.
About two weeks ago (11/12/2011), I totally wiped clean and reformatted my full PC, re-installing Windows 7 and only my major programs. After updating my iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch Gen 4, I took a chance to re-sync my iPod Gen 5, AND IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN!!!
Is there anyone who can inform me as to why this is happening, when I was able to sync the iPod Gen 5 the very FIRST time, but after that the problems started? I know if I take the iPod back to the Apple Store, it will work for them.
It should be noted I did attempt the same procedures with my laptop computer with Window XP Home Edition, SP3. Still did the same thing.
Any help please? Thank you in advance. Other than the age of the iPod, it is "practically brand new" or has been used for about 2-3 weeks.

Everything was downloaded directly from Apple's website. I found some possible answers through "Mitch751" but cannot print out yet until I restart my computer. iPod is still attached and wanted to search while it was charging. As I mentioned, I have done everything searched and researched and even stumped the Apple Genius bar employee.
    Thank you Desmond

  • The PC that my ipod was connected crashed and i wanted to switch it to my laptop now..the question is will i lose all my pictures and notes from my ipod if i switch PC's or is there a way to make it stay since i have icloud backup on my ipod.

hi...the pc that my ipod was connected crashed and i wanted to switch it to my laptop now..the question is will i lose all my pictures and songs from my ipod if i switch PC's or is there a way to make it stay since u have icloud backup on my ipod. i really dont want to lose my pictures so plz let me know if there is a way...thank you

The iCloud backup does not include non-Tunes purchased music and photos that were synced to the iPod. The iCloud backup does not also included a few other things included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does also not included non-iTunes purchases and photos synced to the iPod.
free programs like iFunBox with copy non-iTunes purchased music and some other things from iPod to computer.  A paid program like TouchCopy is needed to copy photos synced to the iPod to a computer.

  • Cannot get my ipod gen 2 to be recognized by itunes, and computer shows it as an external drive f... help?

I cannot get the ipod gen 2 to show as something to sync to the songs I have loaded into itunes.  I also only see the ipod as disk f, like it was a travel drive.  Help.  My daughter wants to get a newer Ipod, but if I can not get this one to work, why would I want to bother?  Someone please help.

to a hard factory reset of your device first. if that dont work try updating itunes software.  if that dont work try different cables to see if the one your using is faulty.  or it could simply be that your device is on its last life.  it happens.  but resetting your device to factory settings and restoring it should tke care of things.  FOR NOW!

Restore from backup if you have one:
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • IPod (Gen 5) problems with Adobe Photoshop Elements after upgrade to V 4.0

This is really strange. I have used Photoshop Elements
V 3.0 to organize my pictures. iTunes would let me choose
the collection I wanted to synchronize with my iPod (Gen 5, 60 GB) and everything worked fine. After upgrading Photoshop Elements to V 4.0
I am neither able to select a collection nor able to sync the pictures with my iPod.
Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue between iTunes and PS Elements 4 ?
    Thanks.

  • Ipod Touch keeps crashing, now wont open at all.

I got my ipod touch a little under a year ago, and soon after getting it i noticed that the music would randomly stop and go to the homepage. It wasn't that bad because the music would always come back up, and it didn't happen that often. But then it started getting more and more often. Recently it started taking two or three times to get music to open, and now it crashed last night, and even after two hours of nothing but trying to open it, it still wont open. I'm getting a new ipod soon, but i wanted to know if there was any quick fix.

This is kinda weird... My iPod touch keeps crashing although I got os 3.1.3.
It always crashes while tring to play chalkboard stunts.
I got a second generation iPod touch. Any help would be very helpful.
