IPod getting overloaded

Hi, I hope these forums can help me, as three applecare agents have proven useless 2 hours later!
Ok...
My 5G 30G Ipod had an absurd amount of memory taken up by videos on it on it. I had about 4 Gb on my ipod of video podcasts and like 1 movie. So, I restored it and told it to ONLY sync music, no movies, podcasts, photos or anything. Then, as the songs are transferring, it switches from songs to my video podcasts! By the time it is done it has transferred 13 gb of video that I don't want on there (all my video podcasts). I thhen eject my ipod and see what is on there - and I find nothing!
So, I go back into iTunes and tell it to sync the three most recent podcasts, and it does that - on top of what has already transferred. By now there is about 16 gb of memory taken up by video, even though I can only access the three most recent of each - as I told it.
I restored it and tried it again. No luck. So I applecare, what a good invetment, I thought. They did the predictable things, asked if i was sure I was just syncing music and stuff and I checked and all the obvious stuff was ok. They said the movies i downloaded off of youtube could be messing things up. So I delte those. That does nothing. Then they said to delete iTunes and wuicktime and reinstall it. I did this twice and it didn't change a thing.
To make sure everything was running smoothly I ran all my maintenance scripts, and I tried just tampering around, but didnt solve anything.
The only thing that may be causing the problem might be this third party iLike sidebar iTunes addon: It shows songs you may like based on what you are listening to.
Please help me!
How can I solve my problem! I am running out of memory when I dont even have that much stuff on it!
Do you think this sidebar may be causing it somehow?
does anyone have any suggestion of what I can do?
Any help will be heaped with praise.
Thanks for your time

Hi,
I have been using my iPOD nano for more than 6
months
now. I bought it in the UK. It was working fine,
until recently I found that when I connect the
charger to a computer, the iPOD is not getting
charged. I'm not able to see anything on the
screen.
Instead the iPOD's base is getting heated up.
Can you suggest me a way out for this?
Somebody pleeezzzz help....

iPod touch 2nd generation iPod touch with 4.2.1 iOS, stopping iTunes, downloading midway,

You should be able to connect the iPod to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over and you can then sync them to your other iPod.

  • Why is it that everytime I update my iTunes(or do something big), my iPod gets a new glitch?

I noticed after my two updates, that my iPod gets weird after every single one. For example, it was perfectly fine when I bought it and then, I updated iTunes. Then, my iPod starts acting like a TV screen and has lines show up every so often to make me think that it is almost broken. I bought it in December and it is a touch. 64gb and 4th generation. So now, I don't update my iTunes. Also it seems to be glitching with my album covers. I added 30 new songs today all with a cover(some already having some because of a past album) and when I lock my iPod and play the songs, the album covers get switched up or don't even come up at all. :/ This makes me worry. What can I do? (Without restoring it.)

    Basics are restart, reset, restore.
    Have you tried a reset?

You can all have independent AppleIDs for iCloud or iMessage etc, but share the same one for iTunes Store / AppStore purchases.

  • My iPod gets warm when charging, but is unresponsive otherwise.

My iPod Touch 5G went blank screen on me.  Nothing works with the exception of the iPod getting warm after plugged into my computer for a while.  Nothing is bugged on my computer, trying to force restore didn't work, and last but certainly not least, it won't register on iTunes at all, nor under my computer.  A $400 investment is about to explode in my face if I don't get any other advice, and I am also no where near an apple store.  Please help!

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Right people, I really hope you can help... here's the story:
I produce with a friend and approx 4 months ago we both upgraded to brand new MacBook Pro's each and Logic Pro 9 each.
I bought a 13" MacBook Pro with 4GB and the 2.53Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
He bought a 15" MacBook Pro with 4GB and the 2.66Ghz Intel Core i7 processor.
We both have bought the full version of Logic Pro 9, both done the upgrade to 9.1 and have both set our copies of Logic to 64 bit.
Why? The only advantage you have from 64 bit is that Logic can use more than 4 GB RAM - which neither of you have. I would strongly recommend setting Logic to 32 bit. On both Books. It might alleviate some or even all the problems - I hope.
Here's a list of unavailable features in 64 bit mode:

My friends copy of Logic on his Mac is so buggy its sometimes unusable.
My mate is about to throw the **** thing out of the window and buy Cubase!
More often than not it is hard to install new software on computers that have been thrown about.
Can anyone shed any light please??
I think 32 bit is your answer. However, the mobile i7 processor does at least have one issue with Logic:

This is a image of the ipod already restore, and everytime looks like that!

If restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod dow not solve the problem you likely have a hardware problem.  In that case either make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or call AppleCare.  If defective, Apple will replace your iPod at no cost.

  • Can your ipod get to hot it wont come on?

what happens if your ipod gets too hot?

If you are using it, you will get a warning message and the iPod will automatically shut down.  So I guess that if it too hot when you are not using it it will not turn on.

  • My ipod gets warm/hot on the back when in use or charging.  It will not hold a charge either.  Does it need a new battery?, My ipod gets warm/hot on the back when in use or charging.  It will not hold a charge either.  Does it need a new battery?

My ipod gets warm/hot on the back when in use or charging.  It will also not hold a charge and is not operating correctly.

Apple will do it for $79.
A third-party place like this one is less expensive. Google for more.

  • When sync iPod, get error message and deletes all playlists!

Just the other day a problem developed. When I sync my iPod (160G,) after a short time of syncing I get a pop-up which says, "Cannot sync "Dennis iPod" because an unknown error occurred. Error number 48"
I clicked OK, and it seemed to sync anyway without further problems. Now this may be a separate issue, but yesterday I was trying to help a friend with loading iTunes on his computer and then getting music in it and then syncing his new Nano. He knows less about computers than I do, so I went through all the steps in detail, clicking on various settings, etc.
I don't recall changing anything and I have gone over my iTunes setup again and it looks OK to me, but the next time I synced my iPod, iTunes ERASED ALL THE PLAYLISTS!
I have it setup to sync only "checked" playlists.
    I am using iTunes 7.5.0.20
Another thing I have noticed for some time now is that syncing my iPod seems to take much longer than it used to. For instance, I get a podcast of a radio program which I like to put on my iPod. The program has three segments which are approx. 30 min. long. It used to take what seemed to be about 6-7 sec. per segment to sync. This was back in the days of the older iTunes which showed the Music playlist with little icons beside the new material to be synced. As it synced, as I recall, the icon disappeared. Now it takes several times as long to sync. Any suggestions. By the way, I don't have "use error correction" checked.
    Thanks for any help.

  • If your Ipod get stuck while syncing

Here's what happened to me, My Ipod would sync and get to a certain song and keep trying and I'ld have to force quit. I would try agiain and it would be a different problem song, but would essentially be starting over each time.
I changed IPOD cables and it worked perfectly. I think I ran over the first cable with my chair. I hope this helps anyone who finds this note in the future.

I'd have chimed in on this 6 months ago but have been too busy. I have 2 80-Gb Classics, and multiple PC's & laptops at the house. One of the ipods started with this syncing issue about 7 months ago. Went through all the five R's, and all the other steps that everybody here has mentioned. I'm the systems engineer (PC) who will kill myself to solve a problem myself before calling for help, because that's the best way to learn, so I really jumped through a lot of additional hoops to narrow down exactly wherein lies the problem with this ipod.
I believe that you'll agree that what I'm about to show proves Apple is in complete denial about this issue. After going through all the standard diagnostic steps on my "main" PC (trying to sync about 30GB of music), I've tried syncing the ipod with the issue to an additional Windows XP PC, a Windows XP laptop, and a friend's Mac notebook. The issue happens each and every time, randomly through the sync process, no matter which computer is doing the sync. As I tried it on each computer, I also tried swapping out the ipod cables. No change - sync locks up every time.
So I pull out the other 80GB ipod that has no problem (my wife's), back it up, wipe it clean so that I'll be syncing the same 30GB dataset. No problem syncing on my "main" PC. Repeat the process, changing only the ipod cable. No problem, syncs fine. Repeat the process on the other PC and laptop (with the same 30GB dataset) just to reinforce my findings, works faultlessly every single time, with each ipod cable. I did not try it on the friend's Mac, since everything was fine every time at home.
After all that, tried the "bad" ipod again - sync locks up every single time. With multiple versions of itunes tried, and multiple versions of ipod's software tried.
Now you, the reader, can disagree with me here if you want, but at this point I believe I have proven definitely that there is a hardware problem with this ipod, and I will not consider otherwise, after all the steps I've taken to isolate the issue and rule out other variables.
So I sent it in to Apple for warranty work. They sent it back saying they ran their diagnostics and nothing is wrong with it.
Hey Apple - I ran your diagnostics (from itunes) too - they also said nothing was wrong with it. You know what's wrong with your diagnostics? You need to have a mode that allows the diagnostic to keep hammering the sync operation for a good long time - long enough to reproduce the error. All your diagnostics are proving is that initial communication is OK. No one is denying that initial communications are ok, otherwise the freaking sync wouldn't start! And considering the extremely detailed email I sent that initiated the whole tech support request, I'm inclined to think that your ipod tech's (or at least the one that evaluated mine) don't bother reading the complaint, or immediately assume that every customer is an idiot and therefore anything they say should be immediately discounted as such. Or maybe they're just mindless automatons reading from a list of problems/solutions and if it's not there, it's not real. Whatever. All I know is, I wasted my money on an extended warranty if this is the kind of support they provide.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't take the good ipod and lock it in a hermetically sealed shrine, never using it again, just to reassure myself periodically that some of my money wasn't wasted..
