  • My ipod has crashed and is not being recognised on the computerr

I turned the computer on with my ipod connected and went to Itunes,.  Then it asked if i wanted to update Ipod, it was a recodnised update to i continued. Then it started to sync,.  It fiished synching it, after which the ipod crashed and a picture of a apple and a bar underneath appeared.  It wont turn off and the computer now does not recognise the  ipod after it is connected back to the computer.
    Thanks

you want to put the device in recovery mode to restore
Connect your USB cable to your computer but not to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until step 3.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:
Note: If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don't see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 4 again.
iTunes should automatically open and display the following message:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."Note: If iTunes not open after two minutes, please open iTunes yourself.
Use iTunes to restore the device.

  • TS3694 I installed itunes onto my desktop but it would not recognise my device & eventually crashed the desktop. I tried my laptop & I got the 3014 error but the ipod has crashed and only shows a USB pic & itunes logo.

Hi, I opened my new ipod 4th generation and had a play with it to initially find & install the amazon audible which I had been told was easy. Anyway I did it so I thought I would have a play with itunes. It regognized all my tracks and I managed to buy an album which I could not find in 'music'. I had to play each tarck, one at at time while they were recognised in history.
While on my laptop I tried to install my tracks but nothing happaened. I was asked to update which I did & then my ipod locked. I've turned it off but when I switch it back on iget a picture of a USB cable pointing to itunes. Logically I thought thaht meant connect to itunes, itunes woud not recognise it and gave a 3014 error.
I have a brand new ipod that is useless, i Feel useless like I am doing somthing wrong. Strange thing is I upgraded from a Philipps GoGear Connect which has bad reviews but at least I could listen to my music, play games and use audible.
Has anyone got any ideas. It was purchased through Amazon/

  • My iPod has crashed.  The screen is flashing, not black.

I was checking Facebook, and the screen went black, with a dozen irregular green and yellow lines running diagonally across the screen.  Pressing and holding the two buttons (as I've done for a regular crash), has no effect - I've held them for over 40 seconds.
I believe I have a 4th gen - it is about a year and a half old.  Suggestions?

    - Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't turn it off let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My ipod has crashed, please help.

So yesterday i turned off my ipod touch (1st Generation), due to it acting a bit funny, it took a while for it to turn off. When i went to turn it back on, the apple logo appeared for about 15 seconds, and then the screen went black, it did this everytime i turned it on, and wouldn't let me into the home screen.
I've tried connecting it to itunes, but it is not being recognised. I dont want to have to spend any money in fixing it if i can. Is there anyway i can resolve my issue?Help would be greatly apppreciated.

    - After being connected to a chargin source for half an hour, reset the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. r
    - If that does not solve the problem connect to computer and it iTunes sees the iPod estore via iTunes.
    - Next see if recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so yu can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - The try DFU mode:
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

  • I'm in NEPAL and my ipod has a sad face

    Hi all,
I won't be at my own pc for months because I'm traveling. so far, my ipod has crashed and burned 3 times only to leave me with a sad ipod icon and no music. I let it rest for a bit and it arises from the dead. Sometimes I can feel the disk spinning as I try and reset it. does this have to be a hardware issue? if not, can I fix a software issue at some random internet cafe pc with no itunes? will I lose all my music if I try and update the ipod? If that happend I'd break down and cry. seriously.
IS there anything that can be done to save my ipod or is this the start of a slow death. thanks so much. Robert
oh. I think i can get in disk mode.

Here's a link to a post about the sad iPod icon, although I don't know how much of it will be of use to you.

This icon is usually indicative of a hard drive issue.

  • I have all my music on an external media drive that has crashed. How can I get the music of my ipod touch back onto the comupter without loosing the music when it syncs?

I have all my music on an external media drive that has crashed. How can I get the music of my ipod touch back onto the comupter without loosing the music when it syncs. in order to start rebuilding my music collection?

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That should switch the assocation of the device to the new library but it is not something I've personally tested.
When you get it all working, make a backup!

  • My new iPod has now crashed and is unusable after updating it. Don't update. I just lost the only good thing I have because of them pushing me into it.

My new iPod has been updated. I was pushed into it. So then I thought "it could use one it could improve it". I read as much as the terms and conditions as I could read that was understandable. And now it's been less then two days and my iPod is now practically useless. Don't update your iPod. It was the only good thing I had. I pleded and pleded to my parents for weeks and save up for weeks to get one. And now it's not even a year old and I've lost it. I can't afford to get a new one. And I can't afford to loose this one. i worked hard every day all day For months to be able to even get a quarter of what i needed. And my parents agreed to pay for the rest and it was my Christmas present. i was extremely happy. It's the best thing that I have and I've lost it because of an update Apple pushed me into. Now they won't help me.
my iPod is freezing every 5-10 minutes for long periods of time. It is:
    freezing
the keyboard board is lacking severely
    lags through out ipod
i cannot play games as it lags then freezes.
my screen is pressing where I don't press it.
    it becomes very excruciatingly slow
I Cannot write to fast or it freezes and i have to re start
Im not getting told when I have notifications (such as emails)
i cannot use facebook, games, Safari. Email, messenger and a few others with out my iPod crashing.
i Cannot use the iPod properly at all.
it can take up to 10 minutes for my camera to work. It usually takes 1 minute or more.
the camera freezes or wont take a photo when I press
it freezes on panorama or worn take panoramas.
it has trouble even trying to get the lock screen up.
and best of all of it. I can never tell when I'm going to be screwed by Apple.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • How do I sync my Ipod to a new library after my computer has crashed?

How do I sync my Ipod to a new library after my computer has crashed?

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
Sync transfer is one way, matching the device content to the content on the computer, except purchased content as mentioned above.  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
    - Phoneview - http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
    - MusicRescue - http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/products/musicrescue/ - Mac & Windows
    - Sharepod (free) - http://download.cnet.com/SharePod/3000-2141_4-10794489.html?tag=mncol;2 - Windows
    - Post by Zevoneer: iPod media recovery options - https://discussions.apple.com/message/11624224 - this is an older post and many of the links are also for old posts, so bear this in mind when reading them.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
In general do not regard your i-device as a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining a backup of your media on a computer backup.
