Ipod has lost memory soem how.

I just got finnished restoring my 30GB ipod video and now it says in itunes AND on the ipod that it only have 15.97 GB of memory anyone know why it would be at 15 and not 30?

Try re-restoring it. I have heard sometimes it can take a couple tries. Also do a couple resets first, then restore it. After restoring, you should have a bit under 28GB available to you.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • My Ipod has lost all my play list and when I press a app icon it does not register it., My Ipod has lost all my play list and when I press a app icon it does not register it.

My son's Ipod touch has lost all it's music and when he selects a app this does not register and it returns to the main screen.
    It is a year old.
We tried to restore all his music on the I Tunes libary but this also did not work.
Can anyone one put us on the right track and restore his songs and save him moaning

    - First try resetting the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If still problem restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on the computer
    - If still problems restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod since there may be some corruption that is also in the backup.

  • My partner has lost her phone how does she get all the music pics back and into a new iPhone?

My partner has lost her phone but how does she get her iTunes music that she has bought back onto her new iPhone?

That won't do the trick. You really need the computer. That way all your data and files can be backed up when you backup the computer.
Your only other option, which is much more limited, is using iCloud:

  • HT201272 ipod has lost camera and cannot load apps previously installed - please help

my sons ipod has had to be re installed and has now lost the camera and all his apps, but has music ! please help

The camera cannot be "lost" as it is a part of iOS.  It can be disabled via Restrictions in Settings > General > Restrictions.
As for apps, ensure they are selected to sync in iTunes.

How could we go to ios4, when ios5 uses so much memory space?

If your "other" section is bigger than 1GB, there have been problems during the sync process and some data got damaged. Only a restore can reduce the size back to normal again.

  • My iPod has lost 14 GB of its HD

My 30GB iPod Photo has worked perfectly from when I bought it (March 2005) until last week, when for no reason it refused to play some tracks. If I selected track one, it would wait for a couple of seconds, then skip to the next, then the next... It still played most of the library though.
Later that night, it froze and when I reset it, it had no music or photos on it.
When I got home I plugged it into my iBook and it appeared to work, but then froze. I used the iPod Updater to reinstall the software, and then plugged it into the wall like it suggests.
When I went to download all of my music onto the iPod once it had charged, I only had a 16.1 GB capacity, which has now shrunk to 16.0 GB.
It still skips some songs, but will play them after a couple of tries.
I have tried to repair the disc and whatever I can do on Disc Utilities, and having phoned Apple Technical Support I was told they would send me an email how to solve the issue , which never arrived.
Any suggestions? I am guessing the laser is playing up or HD itself is scratched or something...
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Maybe try using disk utility to format the iPod, then put it into disk mode, confirm the size of the disk is correct, then restore it using the iPod updater.
If, after formatting it using disk utility, the iPod is reported to have a 16 gig drive, then you are likely dealing with a controller board failure of some sort and will need to send the iPod in to be replaced.

  • My Ipod has no memory!

I need help. My Ipod is recognized by ITUNES but on the information page it says that the storage capacity is N/A.
When I go to "MY COMPUTER" and rigt click the ipod and look at properties, it tells me that I have no storage space available and that I am not using any memory. It also has no folders in the Ipod removable disk section. When I try to RESET my Ipod it gives me this error.
There was a problem downloading the IPOD software for the IPOD the requested resource was not found.

when i got my ipod i checked the memory it was 7.68GB, that was because it had the operating system ive done nothing to it and now its gone down to 6GB

    - When a second person registers an iPod, the iPod gets deleted from Your Support Profile. That is all you know.
    - The SN will only help idenify the iPod if it is recovered.
    - Apple will not help at all.

  • My iPod has been stolen. How do i find the serial number if i cannot find the box?

My iPod was stolen and the police want my serial number in order to try and trace it. I can't find the original box and obviously i can't sync my iPod to my computer in order to get the serial number. Is there another way to get the serial number?

Also hover the mouse pointer over the backup in iTunes>Preferences>Devices and the SN will appear.

  • Backup Assistant has lost my contacts - how do I get them back?

About two weeks ago, I looked at the Backup Assistant Sync report, and instead of 120+ contacts there were only 4.  When I opened my contacts, there were a few there, but only with email addresses.  The contact list I had been using was accumulated over 4 phones and consisted of names and telephone numbers.
Sure enough, the email addresses were associated with my gmail account.  I did not authorize any change to the data source to sync to.  Did Backup Assistant decide to switch to the gmail files to sync to?
This is extremely aggravating.  I have lost 6 years worth of telephone numbers.  I don't understand why this happened.  Does my telephone contact list still exist somewhere?  How can I make sure that it syncs to the phone numbers and NOT the email addresses?

you should still be able to access your contacts by logging in online to the backup assistant website.
however, I strongly suggest from there that you export your contacts to a CSV file and import them to your google contacts.  Once I did that, I have not had any issues since.

  • With the last upgrades my Firefox has lost all sound, how can I get it Back?.

I Upgraded to OpenSUSE 13.1 a few months ago. Firefox lost the ability to give me sound with Utube video's. I tried the Tumbleweed upgrade system, but it was not to my liking. So I have done a fresh install from DVD, and most of what I want is working well. Firefox is not playing sounds, where do I look to see what is missing?
    Francis Brighton

Are other applications able to play sounds? If so, are some things able to produce sound in firefox but not others? For instance, playing a youtube video versus playing an mp3 (which would be easy to test by providing a file:// link to a mp3 on your hd) versus playing a wav or ogg file.
If firefox is simply unable to play any of these things at all, you may be missing a vital plugin. If it is able to play videos for you but not the associated audio, try starting firefox from a terminal and check to see if there is any output to the terminal (on startup or when playing a audio/video file) that might be relevant.
If nothing above seems to shed any light on things, you may also want to try running ldd on it as well (in a terminal, try typing ldd $(which firefox) and look for missing libraries).

  • Itunes cannot sync even though Ipod has enough memory

I have a 4 GB Ipod nano and my entire iTunes music library is 2.63 GB, my iPod can hold 3.63 GB of data. It was syncing like usual (I have it set to sync all music+playlists) then I added a couple songs (about ten) and it suddenly tells me that my library is too big to copy to my ipod and it asks me if I want to make a playlist of selected music to sync.
I've tried syncing all playlists but one and it works fine. I would really prefer to have that one playlist, I don't understand why it gives me this message. It claims what I'm trying to sync is ~5 GB (I don't remember exactly) and as I mentioned my library is only 2.63 GB
    Any help is greatly appreciated

You might have a corrupt Playlist. If it is a regular playlist, create a new one and simply drag and drop everything from the old one to the new playlist. Delete the old one and try the iPod again.
