Ipod has stopped

My ipod has recently been freezing up. I would reset it and then have to set up my playlists again. Now it just will not turn on. I've tried resetting it but the sick Ipod just keeps showing up on the screen. How can I turn my ipod back on?

Hi Tamara
Try this...
Drain your battery right down, and then let it charge right back up.
Then Hold down SELECT and MENU at the same time to reset the iPod; immediately after the screen goes dark, switch to holding down SELECT and PLAY/PAUSE. Keep pressing for ten seconds or so to be sure; the screen should remain dark. You may have to do this a few times...

Try restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If your iPod is with in the one-year warrranty, not abused and defective Apple will replace it.

  • Ipod has stopped putting songs into the recently played list, Any ideas Y?

My ipod has stopped counting songs and also now wont put any songs into the recently played playlist and its really annoying- Any ideas on how i can sort this out? I've reset the ipod which has done nothing and i have also updated itunes but again to no avail- Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Lisa

I am also having this (or a similar) problem. For years I had an Auto Playlist of Podcasts with "Play Count is Zero"/Live updating rules so they were removed each time I synced my iPod after I listened to them. Recently, the Playlist has stopped updating. That is, the podcasts stay in the playlist because the play counts never update. They show in the podcast library with 0 plays no matter how many times I play them on my iPod.
I also noticed that none of songs I play have their playcounts updated in the Library after I play them on my iPod. All the syncing seems to be going one way (from the PC to the iPod and not the other way around). I picked a song with a playcount of 1 and it over and over just to test it out and no dice/no update.
Any clues? Is there a setting I am missing? I tried resetting the iPod.... And the iPod played tunes/casts are also not appearing in the Recently Played list....

  • Ipod has stopped syncing

    Hello
My ipod has stopped syncing on a windows 7 machine.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes.  Under devices I can "traansfer purchases from ipod" but am not able to sync. When I run diagnostics from help it finds "no ipod" under device sync test. I ahve tried some of the other suggestions as well such as reinstalling drivers.   I have also reset ipod.  Please help!

I to have this problem it took many attempts to sync my Ipod. I also think it is a problem with the previouse up date, I recived another yesterday and have yet to try again with the new update installed. I was thinking it was my firewire card, and was going to try the usb cable if it happened again.
Well it all synced up ok this time via firewire, only 5 new tracks though BUT trying to copy contacts from out look now crashes itunes.

  • My video Ipod has stopped song playback

My four month old video ipod (60G) has stopped playing songs. It allows me to select songs and brings up the artwork as if about to start the time counter goes to 0.00 but never starts even though there is an arrow in the top of the screen indicating that it is playing.
I reset the ipod several times to no avail then reset to factory settings today loaded my full library and this hadn't worked either.
I have installed the recent software patch too.
    please help me

Im not sure if the warrenty is still in effect. It is 2 Years old and the problem is that it will not update. No dont tell me about restoring my ipod, restarting computer, reinstalling itunes, and etc. I have done that plenty of times. The first 2 time my ipod has this problem those worked. But it randomly stopped working. So I restarted computer, didnt work, reinstalled itunes, didnt work, restarted ipod, didnt work, charged ipod fully, didnt work. So I decided to restore my whole ipod and now it wont even update the songs anymore. Could I take this to a apple store and see if they can fix it. Ill be going by one today.

  • IPod has stopped updating

I drag songs/videos or even delete them, and it looks like I changed it. But when I unplug it from the computer nothing changed. My new videos/songs aren't there. I tried to see if the reverse was also true, and removed everything I had on my iPod. Looked empty, reloaded it, everything was back.
    Umm...what do I do now?
Edit: it is still displaying the songs I deleted, but they are not playable anymore.
    So something is updating
Edit 2: When I delete my iPod songs from iTunes, the amount of space used remains the same. It does not go down. But when I add more songs the amount does go up, but then they're not there when I unplug the iPod, but the smae taken is still taken.
Edit 3: Lol, after 3 hours of trying to get it to work it just started updating again. Oh who knows?

    chris -
My ipod is doing something similar. It has stopped syncing with itunes. I added new songs into my itunes and when I plugged in the ipod it acted like it was updating. It even said "update complete". But, when I went to play my new songs, they were not in my ipod. So, I updated my ipod software, updated my itunes, restarted my computer, and reset my ipod. I plugged it up again - and it did the same thing. It acts like it is updating, but the songs do not transfer. What should I do now?

  • Ipod has stopped being recognised by windows or itunes. tried everything

    hi
My ipod 30gb video is no longer being recognised.
    symptoms:
I plug ipod into the usb cradle
    drive appears in 'my computer'
    itunes 7.2 loads automatically
ipod has usual 'do not..' message
ipod screen then brightens with same 'do not..' message then goes back to menu on ipod
    drive dissapears from 'my computer'
nothing updates and itunes diagnostics say connection has failed. all usb hubs reported in diagnostics are ok.
    I have tried:
    1. resetting ipod
    2. windows /manage/settings/ipod checks
    3. system restore
    4. driver removal of ipod
    5. firmware update removal in itunes directory
    6. ipod lead instead of cradle and other USB ports
    6. everything else suggested on the help and support centre
the ipod works fine and I can see/hear all music and video on it and the itunes library matches the ipod
device manager sees the USB device as (0)ipod and says it is working fine

Thanks! But I actually figured it out! Right after I said something about the driver, I went into device mangager. Sure enough even though it did not show up as a drive letter the device manager said is was installed and working.
So I deleted the device out of device manager. Restarted and plugged it in. Although I go some weird error. It found the IPOD and now Itunes sees it.
I believe that killing the process would have done the same thing as you stated.
Thanks to all for taking the time to answer these issues. It beats the apple store or tech support.

  • Remote App on my iPod has stopped working after 7.0.3 update

Remote App used to work well, instantly connecting to my iTunes library (V10.5.2 on OS X 10.5.8), but after updating my iPad 4 to 7.0.3 it has stopped connecting.
I have re-started my Airport router as Apples tech docs suggested, and re-started the machine that the iTunes library is on. Neither has helped. I have also turned sharing on and off in iTunes a few times but nothing allows the iPad to show up under devices as it did previously.
The iTunes library will share to other computers on the same network running 10.6.8 and 10.8.5.
    Under devices nothing is shown.

Found the problem. The iPad was connecting to my guest network rather than my main network as it is supposed to.

  • The sound on my 5th Generation Ipod has stopped working

So my ipod has the newest software and has been rebooted and all the other "re"s you can think of and yet the sound does not play.  The video works fine, and the music says it is playing but no sound will come into my headphones, stereo, or any other way I have tried to connect it to get sound to come out.  ANy way to fix without buying a new iPod?

I have the same problem and my nieces ipod fifth gen also lost sound capabilities - Apple should admit to this problem and repair them for free!!!!

  • My Windows synched ipod has stopped mounting on my Mac

I know variants of this topic have already been posted so I apologise for that but this problem is a bit different.
I have a windows synched 20GB ipod photo. I was pulling off my ipod files to my G4 powerbook using (ahem) ipod rip when i accidentally unplugged my ipod halfway through.
Ever since then, when i connect my ipod to my powerbook through USB, it appears as a hard drive and in itunes for about 20 seconds and then disappears, and the do not disconnect symbol on my ipod goes and returns to normal.
my question is, how do i get my ipod to stay mounted to my powerbook so i can actually do stuff with it? I have already tried re-setting which didn't work. Is it a question of restoring my ipod? and if so, would i have to do this on my PC? any help would be much appreciated as all i want to do is synch my ipod with my shiny powerbook and not my horrible PC!

It may give you a surprise answer. Try to do a Restore with a PC, once it has been completed, connect it back with your Mac (you may need to put it into disk mode if it cant mount with your Mac), then
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • My iPod has stopped working ocmpletely

I have a 30gb 5th Gen, just over a year old (!!) so out of warranty. So I connected it yesterday, opened up iTunes, and it prompted me to download the iPod software update, which I gladly did. Then I carried on using iTunes for a bit longer, and then disconnected my iPod and went for lunch. Then, came back from lunch, tried turning on my iPod....nothing, absolutely dead. So I held the menu and middle button as usual, and I heard that faint slight clicking distortion sound that you always hear when you reset the iPod this way, but the iPod remained dead. It is not recognised by computer, I have tried plugging it into the wall and charging, still nothing, I have tried everything on the website, nothing. Are there any problems with this latest update by any chance? Or have I just been really unlucky and it is simply coincidence that i updated the software, and then my iPod decided to break....
Please someone let me know if there is any known problem with this latest update.
    Thanks in advance.

The same here. Worked fine until the update. I have done all the usual things, reset, erased via disk utility, restore, It is not a coincidence in my opinion that all this was after the update. Worked fine before that.
Right after the update, iTunes said it was in need of a restore. After doing that I could not get the ipod to work. It would make a hard drive 'click' noise, (like a drive head clicking back to the start position) It would then reset, do it again, then show the go to apple/support folder icon.
So I did a restore, several times, until the ipod came back to life showing a language selection menu right after the ipod was hooked up to the wall power charger (as instructed by ipod)
I have had other odd things happen, like itunes locking up, disk utility locking up, even the finder freezing just after the various restores I have done. I can get the ipod working completely using these erase restore methods mentioned in many other threads, but I can't get my music loaded onto it. I was able to manually load one song and it worked fine - until I tried to dock the ipod with my mac and get the rest of the music. It came up with the old "you need to restore your ipod...." which starts the whole ball rolling again. Another odd thing is running disk utility keeps finding a small error which it fixes, only to (sometimes) reappear. I am absolutley convinved this is to do with the last update or is a new ipod virus (is there such a thing?) I can get the ipod working right up to the docking part. Oh, and I did a self diagnosis routine on the ipod and EVERYTHING checked out as it should - even the HDD scan.
I did get an error 48 only once, which has not reappeared. And it did take repeated attempts to get it back up and running once this all started. Now I can get it back running with a restore and plug into the wall power connector. If I could just get the music back on I think I will never do another docking again! I would be happy just getting my ipod back! I miss it!
I will send in my system info to apple, as requested in another thread.

  • My Ipod has stopped syncing!

i have a PC and I am running on the latest version of Itunes and my Ipod is an 120gb Ipod classic which I bought 2nd hand but refurbished on Amazon. I have had it a year and a half and had no problems with it but I noticed recently after I had put some new music on my Itunes that it was not syncing all the tracks. Looking on my Ipod I discovered it had taken songs off that had been on there so my Ipod libary is left mismatched with some albums fine, some with only one track, some taken off completely. It took me awhile to fully notice, then when I tired to sync it again last week it came up with this:
I then tried setting my Ipod back to its factory settings but this did not work either! Keeps attempting to sync really slowly then coming up with that same message. I regret taking it back to factory setting because now what was there has been totally wiped off and I can't listen to it at all, it has synced afew random tracks and albums but even less! Any help would be appreciated.

It is either a problem of your Logitech Pure-Fi Express or the iPod itself (Battery needs to be replaced).
See if you can charge your iPod with your computer, if Yes, then it is the issue of the Logitech
