IPod Having Problems Working... at all

My iPod usualy displays a blank white screen when coming out of sleep mode. This used to be no big deal becasue it was easily fixed with a reset. Now when it is reset it goes back to the white screen. I can still charge it and my computer and iTunes can still recognise it and the backlight still comes on. I've restored it as well.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • My ipod is not working at all when i plug it into my laptop i get an itunes sign and below that plugin sign

The link I and Ingo provided included:
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
That is more than quicktime and iTunes.  Follow all the instruction in the link for removing and reinstalling the Apple software.

  • I made a mistake of trying to put 5.0.1 beta 1 firmware on my ipod touch 3rd gen. Now the ipod doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

I made a mistake of trying to put 5.0.1 beta 1 firmware on my ipod touch 3rd gen ( non-registered) unsuccessfully. Now the ipod doesn't work at all with any public firmware. Any suggestions?

You can try putting the iPod into Recovery Mode and restoring it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that doesn't work, you'll need to take this up in the forums to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS developer program.

my ipod having problem in putting up songs. and i cant sync the songs. what will i do?

back up the device in icloud and restore it back to factory settings after doing so setup as new and see if the issue is still there. If it's not merge your icloud info back into your device by just loging in with your apple id after the the setup is complete.

  • I am having problems working with Mail in Snow Leopard

I have an iMac running 10.6.8. I was having problems booting up the computer, which I was able to overcome running Applejack. Then I noticed Mail malfunctioning. Followingg describes the problems:
    1. Cannot open  "About Mail".
    2. Cnannot open Preferences; unable to check account settings.
    3. Do receive most of incoming emails. For no known reason, outgoing servers go "Ofline". So, cannot send outgoing emails.
Will appreciate suggestions for fixing these problems.

OK, so that's a marginal machine - dont spend TOO much on it. Solid, btu i think, for example, can;t run Lion or later OSes.
I have not worked on a modern imac myself. I'd go to google, bing or your favourite search engine and search "hard drive replacement Imac intel" and see what you find re: instructions.
In general though, its not all that complicated. Your manual may in fact tell you how to access it mechanically.  If you have, as i think you do a "SATA" (serial ATA) hard drive, just buy one, open it up, remove the old, plug in the new and close it.
Of course, first do a complete abckup and MAKE SURE YOU CAN BOOT FROM THE BACKUP.
A drive shoudl be < $100.  One of the most helpful, althoug not chepaest vendors, is OWC (Other World Computing). They can actually ehlp you with instructiosn and what works in your model.  If oyu have questions, i suggest using a hgih service vendor such as them.  no affiliation.

  • IPod isn't working at all

Yes, it is charged, just to let you know. The thing is, my IPod is really messed up. Like it started a long time ago, but I thought nothing of it. It would start freezing, and skipping a lot, so I would just Restart it, then it would work perfectly fine. But, a while after that, it would take like 10 minutes for my computer to recognize my IPod and it'd freeze when adding songs. After that, it started saying Restore your IPod, so I would, I've restored it over 5 times, and I have A LOT of songs and videos, and it would take over an hour to put them back on. Now, it won't work at all, the IPod with it's eyes X'd out comes on with www.apple.com/support/ipod. I read about it and it said to restart my IPod, but it keeps coming back over and over again. I've Restarted it many times too. Then it would say connect your IPod to your computer to restore it, I would but the dead IPod would come on again. Sometimes, I'll try to connect it to my computer, and the "Do Not Disconnect" thing with show and I'll be happy, like it's going to update or whatever, BUT, the screen is Black & White like the old non-colored IPods, the originals :/ Now I have no clue what to do. My uncle says I probably downloaded a song, with a virus, and it got into my IPod, but, I have a Zune, and no song has messed that up, and I don't download illegally a lot, only if I want a song that I bought off of ITunes and I want it on my Zune, and don't wanna buy it from the Zune store, because I already have it, but I rarely do that. Does anyone know what is possibly wrong with this thing!!!! I hate my Zune, and want my IPod back really bad, and my mom didn't buy a warranty, she never does.

is the backlight off if it is just go under settings and select backlight timer and put it under anything but off that might restore ur screen so it has light cause my 5th gen ipod did this to before

  • Ipod touch not working at all and wont register to charge...help!!

My son has a 4th gen. ipod touch. He had it on sleep mode for an hour and now it isnt working at all. It wont turn on and it wont register when we try to charge it. Any suggestions on whats wrong with it??

Hi there have a simple answer that works(i did it on my friends iPod touch 4 gen)
Plug the iPod into your sons iPod doc or wall adapter ...NOT PC OR MAC... And hold the sleep and menu button for THIRTY seconds.... This will wipe the iPod clear and will also leave it blank then do not use it at all in anyway shape or form. Wait for ios5 to come out( October the 12th 2011) and then Plug it into your PC or Mac that you originally had it synced with and it will work

  • Please help! ipod nano wont work at all!

Please Help! my ipod nano has decided to stop working altogether - will not switch on or connect to computer. have tried to reset it several times but it wont work!
any ideas much appreciated - it worked an hour ago and i only got it this morning!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Congrats, for your nano! Not for its problems, I mean!
    About your iPod's problem:
First, make sure the "hold" switch isn't on. The hold switch is located on the top of your iPod. If it's orange, then that means it's on. If it's grey, it's not on. Switch it off (grey) if it was on (orange).
If that wasn't the problem, let's make sure your iPod is even charged enough. Hook your iPod into the computer using the USB cord to the computer (that also charges the iPod), leave it there for 10 minutes, and see if it comes alive.
Presuming that your iPod won't charge or wake up to your computer charger, if you have a wall charger for your iPod (that's different than the cord for the computer charger), hook it up, leave it there for 10 minutes, and see what happens.
Thes suggestions should work for your iPod. It's most likely something pretty simple.
Post back if this helped or not, I hope it did. Good day!

  • My ipod won't work at all

I plugged it into a universal car charger that had a switch on it for different devices. I didn't realize it wasn't on the "usb" option when it was plugged in. Now it won't work at all, do I need a new battery, hard drive or both?

If you have a USB power supply for the iPod try plugging it in that and let it sit for a while. Your battery may need some charging before it will come alive again. This happens when a battery gets depleted to a point that it needs a lot of charging to come back. If you don't have a USB supply plug it in your USB port and let it charge for a few hours. It will take longer using the USB port.
If this doesn't help you will need to consider getting your battery replaced.

  • HELP! My ipod won't work at all

My ipod hasn't worked for two days now. I've tried everything! My computer doesn't recognize it and whenever I try to turn it on it just says "very low battery please wait" and after a while it just shows the apple logo.

    Try this.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Sometimes if the battery gets completely discharged, simply connecting to a USB port on the computer doesn't supply enough power to "kick start" the charging process. In theory it should do, but yours seems to be a common problem.
Do you have access to a wall charger?

  • My ipod is not working at all i tried to power down and tried the home button i was on pinger and it just froze nothing works on it what do i do?

my ipod is frozen nothing works i tried to restart it by pressing down the home button and power button at the same time but nothing works i was trying to get on my pinger app and it froze there all i see is the pinger sign its basically my life and i dont know what to do at this point any ideas on how i could get it going again?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
