IPod Having Trouble Joining Wifi

Hello all. I hope you are all having a wonderful day.
I am having a problem with my iPod joining wifi, dealing with Password Encryption. We have a comcast modem-router that was very recently installed. This router uses the WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. My iPod was originally working perfectly fine with the Wifi. Now, it just says 'Failed to join network <my network name>'. I am sure it is not that I'm entering the password wrong, because I have even tried changing the wifi password (via router management). Any possible fixes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
~Phantom

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Also
On the router change the channel for the 2.4mhz to channel 1, 6, or 11. rather than auto.
on the devices go to Settings > Wifi > click the blue arrow beside the network > Select Forget network
go to Settings > general > reset > reset network settings
power the devices off and on. Connect again

  • Having trouble with wifi since upgrading to ios7

Having trouble with wifi since downloading ios7

I have had this problem on my iPad and iPhone 5 since the update in September. I called apple support numerous times, did all the troubleshooting, and went to the apple store and had both devices replaced under warranty. Nothing fixed the problem.
Then as a last ditch effort I called my internet service provider. Turns out that the ios7 doesn't seem to work on a wpa2 network and needs to be changed to a wep network. The tech did this over the phone and now both devices work normally connecting to my wifi! I am still nervous I'm going to run into more issues but so far so good.

"Not only did it download a new version of itunes, but it also downloaded MS Word updates, and other software that required updating."
MS Word is not an Apple product so it could not've downloaded with all the Apple software updates.
"I clicked File > Check for Updates"
What program were you running to do that?
In any case boot from your OS installer disk and run Repair Disk from Disk Uility.

&T has changed the router 3 times but no help.  Will a different router other than AT&T solve this problem and if so, which one.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Downloaded new OS and having trouble with wifi, bluetooth Facebook and Skype performance

    Dowloaded 10.2.1.537
When I first loaded this it had a lot of trouble finding my Wifi again and would disengage.  Problem went away after a few hours but it recurred this am.  Also affected Facebook.
Skype is loading more slowly and jumps to a black screen for 10-20 seconds.  Then it will load and function but only for a few seconds to a minute and then shuts off completely.
Launching Skype also resultd in my bluetooth headset being disengaged sometimes.
Reinstalled Skype to see if that fixed anything.
Tried turning off bluetooth to see if that fixed the skype problem - nope still disengaged.
Cycled my router and cable and still no fix...
    Running Z30
Would love to get a fix on this.

    Hello,
Given all of your issues, I'd guess that something did not go well with the update, and a clean reload would be in order. You accomplish that either through the LINK software or by obtaining an AutoLoader.
    Good luck!

  • Ipod having trouble syncing music

I used to have all my music onto my ipod until when i synced it to add more music it said that the folder couldn't be found and it erased all of my music from my ipod. Since then I havent been able to sync more then 100 songs before it says the same error message and again deletes all my music from my ipod. I have restored my ipod about 5 or 6 times and it still does the same thing. Any ideas to what the problem could be?

Hard to gues as you do not mention your issue.
    What "trouble" are you having?

  • Having trouble with WiFi on an MSI GE60 0ND

I was having driver problems with Windows 8 (my laptop came with it) and decided to downgrade to Windows 7. Now, even after installing all drivers and updates, I am unable to connect to any WiFi networks, and troubleshooting tells me that I have to turn on wireless capability. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem at all, but I can't seem to find a wireless switch, and the button at the top of my keyboard does not change anything when pressed, even when I hold FN while pressing it, and it never lights up (the same thing happened when I had Windows 8). I've tried re-installing the N-135 drivers from both MSI's website and Intel's, and it still does not work with the same message. I've also tried FN + F8 and using Windows Mobility Center, and it says "Wireless off", but the option to turn wireless on is faded out.
Any help would be appreciated at this point, wired connection works by the way.

Yes it is, open new topic. see: >>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<

I thought it's worse to start a new one (since it regards a very similar issue and there is google -you know- referring this topic).
nope, messing with "similar" issues will cause a mess and less attention to topic starter.
and also chance for confusion and giving wrong stuffs to people will increase a lot.

  • I'm having trouble with WiFi on my Blackberry Curve 8520?

I am currently using a Blackberry 8520 Curve, and I am using it without a data plan. So, I use internet by using WiFi.
However, I have found that when I am using internet it will often display 'Unable to find the requested server'. The browser is set to Hotspot, and connections on other devices such as laptop work fine.
The only way I can get internet working again is to go to 'Manage Connections', and switch WiFi off and then back on again. Only then does it start working. If I leave WiFi switched on, the connection eventually times out.
Has anyone else had this problem and how can it be fixed?

    Ok, you did.
Then try this, delete the WiFi profile for you router, do a simple reboot (With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot) and then set up the router again.
Give it a few days and see how it worksl

  • ITunes and iPod having trouble communicating

Allright, first off, i have to say that when i want iTunes to show up, it takes forever for it to open.
When iTunes DOES open when my 80GB iPod Classic is plugged in, it says the software for communicating with iPods was not installed properly. It says to reinstall iTunes. I have done this less than a week ago, only to have been shown the message AGAIN! I continue to use my iPod for a short while, and within days this problem persists... Why is iTunes being ridiculous like this for no reason? I havent changed anything my system, nothing has been changed with iTunes, its perfectly fine... Im really annoyed. I cant add music to my iPod now that it cant even show up in iTunes. Fan TASTIC!

This refers to permissions on your computer which must have been changed. Start by using Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then do the following:
Reset User Permissions and ACLs in Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
From the Utilities menu select Terminal. At the Terminal prompt enter: resetpassword. Press RETURN. When the window opens select your startup drive where it says "Select the volume containing the user account:" At the bottom of the window you will see, "Reset Home folder permissions and ACLs." Click on the Reset button.

  • MacBooks intermittently having trouble joining old AEBS

I have been using my old (g) AEBS in my office for a few months without problems. However, for the last week or so my two partners and I have experienced intermittent problems joining the network (all using "n" MacBooks). Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't, some times one or two of us can but the others can't - there seems to be no pattern.
Oddly my iPhone and my partner's blackberry can always connect.
Looking at the AEBS logs, when the clients try and fail to collect the log shows:
"Severity:3 Request denied for UDP 5353 to with lifetime 7200 [refused]"
Sometimes the numbers are different (4500 instead of 5353).
Any ideas why this might be happening?

I think the problem was interference - have just scanned using Air Radar (thanks for the poster who suggested that for a different problem I posted) and there were 5 networks on the same channel last time I had the issue - now have found a less crowded channel and things are more reliable.
