IPod HD Lag times, this is crazy
I've recently upgraded from a 4GB Silver iPod mini, a HD based iPod and I've never had a problem with the lag times between choosing songs or skipping back/forward through songs.
But over the past 2 weeks of owning my iPod 5G 30GB I've become more and more unhappy with the apparent lag times when just trying to listen to a tune, plus I think I've found a bug in the 5G iPod (which I will list in a seperate topic).
When I select: Artist > Destiny's Child > #1's. The song will start playing, but the lag time between clicking the first track and it playing is around 3-5 seconds, you can hear the HD spin up, and it appears to lag on the Artwork a bit.
But then I clicked Skip 5 times, and counted the time until the iPod would play the track. 10 seconds! No word of a lie, you could hear the little HD click and whirr inside the iPod. It took ages to skip, and another age to bring up the Artwork.
I am hoping that someone can tell me if this is "normal" behaviour for the 5G or if there is a HDD problem here? (Could 30GB 5G owners please try the afore mentioned tested and get back with some times?)

Perhaps your problem is Fat32.
Mine is formated HFS+, since I use Macs, I don't
notice lag anywhere near what you guys state.
Just a thought.
During my time mucking around with this I have noted that the Mac format is much faster! I also find that it takes about 30 seconds for the iMac to recognise the iPod when it's connected to the USB 1.1 port and using FAT32, whereas using HFS+ the connect time is about 5-10 seconds. It appears that OS X likes to see it's native drives a lot faster than FAT32.
I think my times are generally accurate, my tag carrera wristwatch generally keeps time ok.
The reason why I find these times so long is I had a 4GB iPod mini. Whilst the HDD is smaller, it was a lot faster with it's seek times. My little mini is just as fast to skip tracks as a workmates 4GB nano! So coming from a little HDD to a large HDD I don't really expect the lag times. But it appears to be a way of life with the 5G and I can put up with that 'cause I can watch Lost on that little thing.

I downloaded 21 songs recently to iTunes and they won't sync with my ipod. 1st time this has happened. Any ideas to download these songs would be appreciated.
I had some time finally figuring why I could buy and download from the Itunes store, but could not load it on my IPOD. What finally worked was plugging my IPOD in to the computer, as I would when "syncing", and, after loading, it would show my device in the side bar. You have to go to VIEW in the top Tool Bar and click on SHOW SIDE BAR in the drop down menu. "SUMMARY' tab, on top, is what I clicked on to show an option of restoring my IPOD to the factory defaults. It erases everything on the IPOD, but gives an option of AUTOFILL afterwards, which it does from the computer. This is one solution of many you could try. Good luck.

Ipod crashed 2 times this week!!!
my ipod touch 4th generation 32Gb ios 5.1.1 restarted a couple of times this week, i never dropped it, it is in like new condition with cover since first day.
I checked diagnostic and i found:

1 entry mobile store
3 entries low memory
7 entries log aggregated
3 entries panic.plist.
what does it mean?
are this entries related to the ipod crashes?
I hope somebody could help me to fix this issue

As of yesterday, the started being more and more frequent. I have tried everything you said before. Unfortunately, that didn't do anything to my ipod. I looked it up here and I saw many people saying it is a hardware failure that it may be caused by jailbreaking or not being updated to the latest version. I currently am in 6.1.3 and I didn't jailbreak my ipod. The main reason is only a hardware failure with the Darwin Kernel.
I really hope that you bought your ipod less than a year ago or I'm not sure if they will give you a new one because of warranty. -
OS5 killed my iPhone... The lag times are crazy. App loading, gameplay choppy. Anyone else?
This is crazy. At first the OS5 really impressed me. The upgrades were really neat. Now that I've had some time to play games and such, EVERYTHING is choppy! Have tried the muti-button reset... Same thing. The load times to do anything have been increased. Even as I am typing this message, there is a lag before what I've typed is shown... Not happy.
Same problem here, especially when using the web browser. I suspect it's Java realated. When I turn Java off, it seems to work fine but then the web capabilities that I need are not available. I hope apple has a solution. My iphone4 is now laggier and has made my phone frustrating.

The ipod 'harms ipod' is synced with another itunes library.Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this itunes library? An ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replace the contents of this ipod with the contents of this itunes library.
I don't know what to do? I should save my library before I replace the contents, but I don't know how to do that! I've downloaded iTunes 10.5 onto my iPod Touch, no problems but I've now got a constant error message on my laptop everytime I switch it on and access the internet. The message is "The procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll"
This is the 2nd time this has happened. Last time iTunes Support called and we ran through a load of checks to no avail. The only option was to delete iTunes completely off my laptop and go for a new download of it. Can anybody tell me how to do it - didn't write it down last time, silly me, never thought it would happen again. Also sent an email to iTunes Support - waiting for a response.Maybe:

Alright,so i lost my iPod and with icloud i found it... this is the first time this has happen to me. Should i call the cops for they could recover it or another option ?

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

Face Time - "This ipod is restricted from creating Face Time Accounts"
Since uploading iso6 the ipod touch has the following message when selecting Face Time "This iPod touch is restricted from creating Face Time accounts. I have tried switching off/on. I have reviewed the restrictions and it is not restricted. The message above will not even allow me to 'get started'? although previous to iso6 Face Time was fine...... any help apreciated.
I have not seen that problem. All I can suggest is the standard fixes:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

SOMEONE AT ADOBE PLEASE HELP!!!
I have had no problems editing Red Epic 4K R3D files in the past revisions of Premier CC but ever since creative cloud updated me to the latest Premier CC 2014 (8.0.1) I cant get any serious work done as my system is crashing on startup, or after a few minutes of work, freezing on playback at times, giving me artifacts at times and is just a miserable and frustrating experience I can get NOTHING done with!!!
How could Adobe release a piece of so called professional software like this with these now obvious MAJOR issues so many of us are experiencing, wasting massive time and money for all of its users and how can I get this running properly and stable as our livelihoods depend on this software to work and thats what we pay Adobe for ???

If Adobe would have thought before changing the file compatibility with the new Premier Pro CC 2014 where you cant load a file updated to this new version back into Premier Pro CC previous revision or included some kind of import / export to and from previous versions I think we would all at least be operational again right now until Adobe can fix its errors in this new revision but they obviously didn't care to think about compatibility, safeguards for users and just adding more new features with a new file format in a buggy piece of software?
I have wasted days now on trying to solve these problems following other users in this forums suggestions including the following listed below:
• Reinstalled my OS downgrading to 10.9.3 originally thinking it was something OS related since I updated to 10.9.4 around the same time this all started happening

Originally I was very impressed with Adobe CC and Premier CC once I started to work with it after many years of abandoning the use of Premier as a Final Cut Pro 7 user but later decided to try Adobe again when Apple abandoned its pro base with the original Final Cut X. I also did not think this new cloud software model was all that bad over the old boxed method. This was all also before the big Final Cut Pro X update in December 2013/early 2014 where Apple appears to be back to support the real Pros but I have stuck with Adobe CC and Premier CC and been happy since that time. Now I am wondering if this was wise as I have had a number of other issues with other CC Apps, updates, etc and this is starting to feel like Creative Cloud is becoming a big, sloppy, buggy mess to me?Also...
Add to right click menu of timelines an entry for "go to next keyframe" and "go to last keyframe" a la After Effects, we should also be able to assign a kb shortcut to this.
There are buttons on either side of the create keyframe button to advance forward or backward in the effects control panel or timeline.
You can also advance forward or backward in the effects control window by holding shift while dragging the playhead.
Allow copy/paste of selection of audio/video effects, not just one at a time. Sure we can copy/paste attributes but since we can also copy/paste effects it would only make sense to allow to copy/paste a selection of effects.
I guess I don't get this one. If I have 5 effects on a clip, I can simply command-click on the ones I want to copy over to the other clip. -
I'm importing a Pages document that I created on my Mac Mini at work to edit on my iPad 2. I'm having a problem in that there is a terrible lag time as I edit -typing, deleting, adding text, etc. I can push 5-10 keystrokes before anything actually happens in the document.
This is very frustrating. Can anyone provide any answers?
Thanks!I now have iPad2 (A5 dual 512MB ) and iPod4 ( A4 solo 256 MB ), both loaded with iwork 1.5 and iOS5 . Let me report :
I think Apple accidently have optimized iOS5 and apps too agressively for the A5 processors of ipad2 and iphone4s. - ipad1, ipod4 and iphone4 run on the A4 chip.. and these are the devices that lag the most.
My keyboard is set to german plus additionally 2 international keyboards, so I can switch input characters when typing.
From what I see : on pad no typing issues so far - all can be left as it is.
iPod had severe issues in typing. SO I started digging around ( I even restored iOS on it it, but no cure ).
To make a long story short -- in iPod4 it helped succesfully to
disable the auto-completion and auto correction features in the keyboard settings and do a reboot:
where you can shorten often used phrases like: "otw" = "on the way" - I hope you know what I mean. Delete them all. Pages seems to lag on the iPod in such a way that it tries to foresee what I am going to type, "thinking" if it is a sentence or a phrase and if it needs correction.. The A4 cpu ( same as in iphone4 ) seems a bit overloaded with this. And to make things worse the tight memory of the iPod adds to the bad performace. The iPad2 has a faster processor and double the Ram ( this would match also the iphone4s hardware ) , and like I said the issues there are non-present for me on the pad.
Additionally it helped to limit spotlight search radius, so that it not constantly monitors changes in the device ( apps,contacts and music only for me - as these do not change that often and with a one time index it is done).
iOS5 is buggy in very few features, but there heavily. The high cpu/memory usage, the fast battery draining are the worst. I positively see the 5.0.1 update coming soon to adress this. Reports from Developers and a vague anouncement from Apple to adress "battery life" soon indicate there is help on the horizon. -
Problem > my ipod video lags when it plays some movies. when i play music videos(only videos i have on ipod now) some tend to be aprox 1 sec delay. its odd when a singer says somthing and one second later the words follow on my headphones. this only happens to some of my videos (about half) while the other half are perfect. it will happen 100% of the time to those songs so its not a random ipod lag.
Process >i use "imTOO" video converter to get my files to mp4 format and run windows xp. while some videos lag others are fine with none. i tried multiple times to convert files(mpeg,avi) to mp4 with no programs running with still no success. i have also tried updating my ipod with no programs running with no success.

LONG lag time switching from other programs to Flash
(Intec-Mac - OSX - 1.5 GB RAM)
Has anyone heard of this before? Any time I switch from any
other open program to a project in Flash, I get a super long wait
time before I'm able to work with Flash again. The lag time
only happens when switching to Flash (I get the spinning
ball of death while the Flash menus load again -EVERY time!)
This happens no matter if I have just Flash open and I'm
switching from the finder back to it or if I have 15 programs open
at once...
It is super frustrating and slowing down my workflow between
Flash and any other programs! I just uninstalled and reinstalled

mac is only PPC at this time it runs emulated in Rosetta on
Intel macs,
and I've noticed swap times can be quite slow, this is not
unique to
Flash in my experience, it happens whenever I swap in a
resource
intensive app. Parallels is another prime example - and it is
intel
native.
Adobe engineers appear to have a new found love of the Mac,
so we can
only hope the intel native version ships it will be super
zippy.

My iphone 5 has been hogging data like crazy the past two months. I have not used my phone anymore than I normally do, in fact I would say I use it less often than normal. I have gone over the family share data limit of 15GB three times this billing cycle. The first time i had 121500 MB of data used. I thought it was rhapsody that was causing all of the data usage but my sister uses rhapsody on her iphone 5c and she hasnt gone over at all! So its not that. I decided I would turn OFF all cellular usage on apps like facebook, instagram, rhapsody, twitter, even MAIL! I am basically not able to use my phone outside of my house now which is NOT okay! I took screen shots of the cellular usage and at one point after I had completely shut off celluar data on all apps, i checked my cellular usage and DNS services, Mapping services, Data and syncing all had racked up data! I hadnt used any of those services! I also turned off all location settings and maps and siri! phone is still using data like crazy!
I saw in recent posts about this issue that Apple replaced peoples iphones because it was a bug in the phones software that was causing the data to go haywire! I have an upgrade but I dont want to use it if I dont have to! I also dont want to get another iphone 5 if this problem is happening with iphone 5's. I have not seen very many complaints about iphone 5c so that might be the route I go.
I also restored my iphone last night cause I saw a discussion which said to try that. So far it is still using data and im on wifi!
Any suggestions as to what to do now?Contact your carrier for their advice.

so my old laptop was a HP pavilion Vista. And my new laptop is a samsung windows 7. I pluged my ipod in as usual, transfered all purchases, yet all that got moved into my library was just what was stored on my ipod at the time, I had authorised my new laptop yet i still dont know how to get everything grouped into my new laptops library... Anyone know how i can do this?

Copy everything that you included in your regular backup to your computer.
Copy contact back to the computer, copy calendars, copy documents, etc.
You can type "move itunes library" into the Google search bar for itunes instructions.

Ok i'm quite frustrated with this issue now. A couple of weeks ago my iPhone 4S thought it would be a good idea to wipe all of my phone contacts. After some playing around I just turned the iCloud off and then on again and cosequently everyone's phon
