IPod Headphones crackling static sound

Since I received my Ipod Last father's day , I have rarely used the headphones that came with it. I had a pair from creative labs that came with my notebook PCMCIA card and had been using those. Most of the music I listen to is choral or easy listening pop . I misplaced those headphones last week and used the ones that came with the IPod , and could make out almost no musical sound from the left channel; I mostly heard serious crackling static noises. Have any others had this problem? How forthcoming is Apple in replacing them?

Do you have good quality cables from the microphones. Balanced cables are bet.
This could be caused by poor connection in a cable/plug, poor quality cable, mic cables running close to mains cables, poor connections elsewhere between the mic and the computer.
Are you recording through any processing in the computer or is it direct microphone to Firebox to Logic track?
Set up a record session and just gently move the cables near the plugs to see if you have a loose connection. If so the problem will show up obviously.
How much RAA do you have?

  • My iphone 4 screen went black, then there was an audible crackling/static sound for about 5 minutes and now it will not turn on. Does this mean my iphone is dead??

My iphone was playing music when the screen suddenly went black, then there was an audible crackling/static sound for about 5 minutes and now it won't turn on. Can anyone tell me what has happened? Is this the end of my iphone?

Plug it into a power source for at least 30 minutes, then try resetting it: Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Help!! Static sound and Lock ups

I recently updated to the newest Ipod Mini version software 1.4. and when i play the songs on my ipod i get static sounding sounds and when i look at the display timer, it looks like the ipod i slowing down.
Also i'm getting lockups when i'm browsing.
Ipod service told me to restore the ipod, and i have 3 times, 1 to the factory software version, and twice to the newer version. It didn't help, as i'm still hearing static sounds, and I've switched headphones and headphone jacks, and it still doesn't help.

the exact same thing happened to me. Mine is an original mini which needless to say is out of warranty, so I need an answer that is not "replace the hardware". Is there a way to restore it to a previous version of the software?

  • Crackling Static Almost like a Lag sound

Alright so, awhile ago. My Toshiba laptop was sent in for repairs because apparently the harddrive was fried (i can only assume this was due to a virus.) about a week later i got the laptop back with a completely new harddrive but when i went to listen to music on youtube, every so often there will be a crackling static noise almost like the video lagged and the sound is dragging with it. obviously it's not really lagging the problem is definetly my computer because i never had this problem prior to sending it in. im hoping it's not my internal speakers that need fixing because im not sure how easy that is to get fixed. I haven't tested this with headphones yet. Can someone tell me what this may be?

I own a Satellite P775-S7365 & two days ago I was stupid & downloaded a free Anti-Virus.  I was able to restore my computer & remove all the junk it added. But....  Now my sound crackles & the video/sound lag behind.  I've read the other comments & solutions.  And I've removed & reloaded the sound programs.  But, it continues to do the same thing.  Nothing has been spilt or the laptop hasn't moved from my desk.  Help?

  • World of Warcraft Headphones (wireless) Static, Poping, Crackling

My headphones work perfectly for video and music, but are failing me when trying to play World of Warcraft. They work fine at the log in screen's, but begin to Snap, crackle, and pop once the game loads up. To add a bit of weirdness to it; if I alt-tab out of the game and have the sound still enabled all of the static and distortion goes away and I can hear all of the game sounds perfectly until I click the game tab and it loads back up. I would definitely appreciate the help if anyone has an answer or a tech support number (I cant find one on this site).
Im running Windows 7 (64-bit) on a fairly fast pc
    CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad 3ghz
    RAM - DDR3 4gb
    Video - 2xGeForce GTX 280
Sound Card - PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series

I JUST bought my wife and I headphones and I set hers up on the mac mini and mine on the imac, but mine has all kinds of nasty crackling on the right side on any app/sound/music being played. I think it's completely hosed on the right speaker since I know what a crackled speaker sounds like. I can remove BASS and it mostly goes away, but that's rediculous to buy a headset for $160 that has a bad speaker.
If anyone else gets crackles, RETURN IT for another or something else. I'll be returning mine, hoping that the next pair I buy hopefully isn't a possible refurb put back on the shelf. I can't think of any other reason CREATIVE would allow a crackling speaker to be sold... I imagine they ACTUALLY test their products before they go out.... right...?
I've tried everything as far as crackling is concerned though, so I'm going with returning it instead of trying anything else... slightly concerned that the other headset I get will have crackling too and there's only one left at the store....

  • My Ipad 2 external speakers does not work and headphones has popping sound. This all occured at the same time as my Iphone and Ipod headphones only played mono (no, the "mono" option is not on). How can there be audio issue for all these devices?

My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
    Peace,

Had you brought the same pair of headphones to the Apple Store with you and they worked there?  If you hadn't, the wire or plug on those headphones may have failed.  Try a different pair if you can and see if those work.
    Hope this helps

  • 5g ipod nano 8GB no sound through ear buds or headphone jack only when docked.

5g ipod nano 8GB no sound through ear buds or headphone jack only when docked. any suggestions? i don't want to replace any of the parts inside if at all possible.
I have a 5th generation 8GB iPod nano. I bout it off of eBay in May of 2010 and it has worked great until now (Apr 2011). The 5th gen plays music through the headphone jack even when no ear buds are plugged in. I was using it one day and it just stopped. I tried resetting it manually and automatically and I tried reinstalling iTunes. Nothing has worked. Now it won't even play sound though the ear buds (or the aux hook up in my car), only when it is docked to my iHome. Does anyone have any suggestions? I dont want to replace the iPod or any parts inside if at all possible. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOMED! THANKS!

Headphone jacks are only good for so many in and out usages.  Usually its the headphone jack itsefl that goes bad first but sometimes it is the internal part.  If you are lucky you can clean out the inside and get it to work.
These devices are not made to last for someone who actually has those headphones around there neck and acually uses there listening devices through out the day plugging it in and out.  This is not in any way an Apple thing, it is a problem with many devices.  The male ends tend to get dirty hanging around then scratch the female end when used.  In fact, using higher end headphones you can really notice even the smallest particles of dust on the male end of plug when used, that is the small popping you might notice when the cord moves.
Hopefully its a problem on the male side of things.
I would recommend a person that wants to use headphones alot to keep a small 2 inch extension plugged into there device that can be replaced when it goes bad inplace of wearing out the original plug.
Again, this is not an Apple problem alone.

  • What can I do for the following situation: I think my insert slot for the headphones does not work; when I put in any cable that should and can go in all I hear is low frequent static sounds.

You might try talking to the Apple store manager and see if you don't get more help...you might also contact Apple.com/support and see if they can give you a contact with the Apple Italy offices.
Sounds like you have two levels of failure, the first shop that did the repair and broke a wire, and the second that has disabled something else and isn't helping.
Apple officially refurbished equipment is usually good quality.  Surprising this has happened but you need to press on with complaints and try for resolution.

If the music plays fine in iTuneds on the comouter try:

    - Restoring from backup
    - Restoring to factoru defaults/new iPOd.
    For restoring see:

  • IPod makes scratching/static noise

I got my previous iPod replaced because the headphone jack wore out. Upon receiving my replacement i found out that, after spending an hour or two in my pocket or in any slightly warmer place, the music the iPod was playing would become scratchy, static-y and eventually the iPod would go silent. It would still keep playing, but it would either not make any sound or make horrible static screeching noises. It isn't a jack problem because I just got new headphones, and the sound goes back to normal if i keep the iPod somewhere colder for a little while. wondering if anyone knows how to fix this, or if i should get this fixed. and if perhaps i can get it fixed without paying shipping, since i received a product that was faulty out of the box.

Hey, just wondering if you ever found out anything about this. I also have this problem and it's getting worse! I have to hold it up against the AC vent in the car while I drive or it screeches and crackles and then cuts out. Also, if above 80 or 85 degrees out I am out of luck for listening to it. I have to place it into the refrigerator for a few minutes to get it to play. Frustrating and ridiculous.

  • Why am I getting a crackling/static noise on my macbook air?

I have a MacBook Air (mid 2012) with version 10.9.5. I keep hearing a crackling/static noise every time there is Audio output.
The sound seems to be coming from the top left-hand corner closer to the 'esc' key.
I have no external devices connected and I have restarted multiple times. If I mute my sound the crackling/static also stops.
Any idea what I might be the cause and how I can fix it?
    Thanks.

The iPod does not use a cellular network It uses only wifi.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Try when connected to another wifi network

  • Hear Crackling+Beeping Sound Through Speakers (intermittently frequent)

When my Powerbook is on, I hear this crackling/beeping sound through my sound output (same through headphones as well). It just started acting up a couple days ago and hasn't stopped. It's rather annoying when I am trying to listen to music or even if no sound is coming through at all.
I don't know if you have recognised this, but if you are in a car or near some type of radio and a mobile phone is being used near it, the radio usually emits a little static-beeping sound because of the interference it is receiving from the telephone waves. That's the sound I am getting from my laptop. This has never happened before.
Is this a sound card malfunction that can be fixed by resetting it or removing and reinserting? Is there anything I can do? Maybe run some sound tests, I dunno. How?
    Thanks.

Hi, ljosh. If anyone who had seen your post knew exactly what to do, I doubt that they'd be keeping it a secret from you. I don't know what to do about your problem, but I can tell you that there's no sound card in a Powerbook for you to fiddle with: the audio circuitry is all on the main logic board. There's no room in there for a separate sound card.
All I can suggest is that you start up from a bootable CD and see whether the crackling continues when none of the software (including the OS) on your hard drive is in use. If it does, your Powerbook needs a hardware repair.

  • New Headphones and Static

Hi, I just got a new pair of etymotic er-6i and whenver I plug them into my iPod (when it is powered on), I get a slight static sound in my earphones. However, when the iPod is powered off, there is no sound produced.
Therefore, I'm assuming it has something to do with the iPod, does it normally produce the static? or is it something wrong with my iPod specifically.
    Thanks

it is a possibility that you broke something inside the cord try other places where you can use your headphones and see if that works. if it doesnt its most likely broken

  • Ipod touch pure static

my ipod touch 2nd gen has stopped playing recognizable music. it now only produces loud static sound. sometimes depending on the track being played you can make out a song playing but its no where near recognizable. even the internal speaker does it along with headphones and my car speakers. its a refurbished ipod that i got as a replacement for my last ipod touch that had to be replaced. however, it is now conveniently out of warranty and i don't know if its worth paying to have it fixed or buying another ipod. any suggestions or comments?

Same problem for me (though not refurb - brand new in August 09). I only get static when playing any sound (music, video, games). The static also lingers for a few seconds even after I press pause. Static happens whether using headphones, internal speaker or car adapter...it will however play correctly through iTunes when connected to my laptop. Really strange...sounds serious. Any answers or ideas out there?
