IPod HELP with set up with user id

HELP!!!
I bought my 9 yr old an iPod for his birthday.
When setting up it kept saying that he was too young so i ended up using my id and my password.
How can I change it now and set it up to be his own???
I am not in the slightest bit tech savvy and would have to say that i don't use my iPhone to its full capacity and have only just worked out how to back up my phone but that was by accident dont ask me how i did it lol

But he is signed in as me...when i plug his ipod in my laptop it comes up with my name and iphone I wanted to have it changed to his name and ipod is that possible so that they can be seperate if that makes sense....

I have found my old ipod that I would like to sync to a different itunes account that it was not set up, how do i sync it to my current account. The old account information is lost and do not have it

If you used automatic syncing, an iPod syncs with an iTunes library, not to an account, such as your iTunes Store account (Apple ID). So, if you still have the same iTunes library, it should still work with that library, even if you no longer have access to an "account."
However, it can only sync with one iTunes library at a time. If it is currently set up to sync to an iTunes library that you no longer, you can set it up to sync to your current iTunes library. But when you do that, the iPod's existing content is replaced by content from that iTunes library.
If that iPod was previously set up using the Manually manage music setting (you dragged songs to it in iTunes to load it), instead of automatic syncing, it is NOT syncing to a particular iTunes library. In that case, you can add new items to it from your current iTunes library. But you cannot set up automatic syncing without replacing its existing content.
You can post back to clarify your situation, and what you ideally want to do.

I'm a beginning developer and I need help in setting up my user configuration

Sorry if this is kind of vague and needs very extensive responses, but I can't find any resources online to help me with what I need. I'm doing The Odin Project's web development curriculum (rather loosely, since it advised me to follow a guide that wasn't very helpful and I switched to this one instead – also listed in TOP anyway) and I'm having trouble with setting up my Ruby environment. I could set up Brew, Git and Heroku just fine, but when I try to install Ruby 2.2.1 with RVM so all my files will be in the proper directories, I hit a problem. Here's the entire log – notice that I have 2.2.1, but not in the /.rvm directory as advised by Installfest. What's really worrying about this is that I do have clang 3.0 instead, and yet every time I need to do something with it I get the same error message. I started reading this and this hoping they'd clear things up, but they assume prior knowledge of compiling source code and setting up an entire system (and A LOT more prior knowledge than what I have at that). Every other clang/LLVM resource I've looked at is for advanced users.
The other compiling issue I'm having is with Python 3. I asked for help on Homebrew's Github repository and they told me that there's something wrong with my user configuration, but I have no idea how to fix it or even where to start. All the resources I can find are either for people who don't know what the command line is, and just teach you basic syntax, or advanced software developers – nothing in the middle. I really, REALLY need someone to help me out with this configuration issue or at least point me to a more appropriate guide that I haven't found yet.

Before you do that, just realize there is a very good chance it will mess everything up. When you are using these 3rd party languages and frameworks, and especially 3rd party tutorials, you have to play by their rules. I just wanted to know what OS you were running. Many of those various 3rd parties will assume something newer than 10.6.8, but also something older than 10.10.2. I have no idea what the exact magic sauce would be to get to exactly the right version.
You might want to consider Linux in a virtual machine. It won't be any easier to setup and may be much more difficult. But you can deal with the ruby and python inside the Linux without possibly screwing up all of your other software in the Mac world.

Help needed setting up with a projector.

I have an M30X & seem unable to set it up to use with a projector. I can get it to show the desktop theme & to move my mouse pointer across to the projector screen but nothing else. I cannot see any programmes on the projector screen & I want to use it to do PowerPoint presentations. I have tried all the basic advice including using the wizard but no luck ! Help please.

Hi,
it seems that you see only the extended Desktop at the Beamer! In this mode you only see the desktop theme and you can move the mouse pointer across!
You can change these settings at Control Panel - Display.
Click at the second blue monitor and then there is a radio button called like "Extend my desktop to this monitor". Remove the chec mark ad approve!
Then the second monitor should mirroring the first monitor!

Screen no longer works, help getting set up with external LCD?

So my Titanium Macbook Pro's screen went out yesterday and it's no longer covered so I've been trying to figure out how to get it to work with an external LCD monitor.
I can get it to boot up, and I can even get it to open itunes via Spotlight and hit play and hear music, so I know all else is (hopefully) fine.
The monitor I have is an "Acer LCD Monitor AL1916W A" and I have the adaptor going out of my MBP to a VGA cord that then connects to the Acer.

But I cannot get the Acer screen to recognize the MBP and show an image. The Acer powers up and shows it's logo but then says 'no signal'.
I tried to blindly Spotlight > System Preferences > Displays but can't get anywhere from there. I tried to restart it and close the screen but no-go.

T7700 help with setting up with tv and game consoles

HI i wanted to set up my T7700 suround sound with my tv and two game consoles i know that i can connect it to one console and use an adapter to get actual sound sound. What I wanted to is if i could connect it to mulitiple consoles and the tv at once so i dont have to muck around changing it from port to port?. I know that this is a computer system but i was just wanding whether it is posible or not?.

There is no such thing as a "sub-account." Also, you probably mean iTunes library, when you say "account." Your "account" in iTunes is your Apple ID, which is what you use to sign in to the iTunes Store to make purchases. iPods are associated with an iTunes library, not with an Apple ID (iTunes Store account). You'll need to clarify...
So, this is what I think you are saying. You previously shared an iTunes library on a computer with your friend. Your old iPod was synced to that iTunes library.
You got an iPhone, and at that time, you set up your own iTunes library. Is that on a different computer? How does the iPhone affect your question about the iPod?
You got a new iPod. What is your "old iTunes"? Is that the iTunes library you shared with your friend?

This issue has been resolved - my Support Advisor, Edgar, was able to discern what was causing the problem.
It appears that, despite years of never experiencing this, one of the latest ipod updates actually altered my device's personal settings and changed it to "Manual" for all synchronizing; even performcing Factory Restores did not change it back to being automatic.
My ipod is working as good as ever now thanks to Edgar. If anyone else is having this problem, please make sure you check your device's settings in iTunes and see if "Manual" is checked - even if you never changed the settings yourself and have no reason to suspect that to be the problem, as was the case here. If it is checked - uncheck it to enable automatic syncing.
So relieved this was not a much more serious problem. I've missed having my music on the go. Thanks, Edgar!

I'm using a IBM ThinkPad W510 with Mozilla Firefox as my search engine, Thunderbird as my email program and I recently purchased an iPad 3 and own an iPod. I am very interested in using iCloud but short of finding an IT Engineer, I am in dire need of step by step help on how to set up iCloud on these three pieces of hardware. I'm willing to pay for the information if needed but as it looks now, after spending three nights and about 9 hours I don't think it's possible. My email address is [email protected] and I am unclear as to if I have to use .me or whatever Apples email options are. I really need help and it's stuff like this that really keep 30 year PC users from jumping the fence and going totally Apple which I may consider in the future after seeing Windows 8 in the fall. i have originally forgotten my pass code for a new iPod Touch, now I have with Apple's help reset it to factory, my issue is due to the change in my Apple ID , the iPod will not let me set it up under the new Id or the old one.I also have been set up with find my iPhone and I don't remember if I did this or not, could have been the grand children trying to help out. I have also noticed the same "problem". I do not fully understand the impact of using the same ID on multiple computers and devices if I want to keep them all in sync.

Dad needs help with setting up shuffle on different account

Hi all ..I have a daughter with a Ipod video, and a wife with a Ipod shuffle. How can I make them work with different itune libarys on the same computor? The ipod video side is all set up. I need to get the shuffle up and running. I opened another user account on our computor, got a library opened, downloaded a cd plugged in the shuffle....won't load. I need a simle way to do this, cause I'm a simple kinda dad. I'm all messed up..open for ANY idea

sounds like its on manual update. next time you plug it in, open itunes and open preferences. there are a couple check boxes that say something like disk mode, open itunes when you plug in ipod, i don't remember the others, my ipods in the car. but they should be pretty self explanatory. or, when you plug it in, try dragging a song over into the ipod.

Restore DB from backup with move - need to set to single user mode first and then reset to multiuser?

Im going to restore a recent backup from a production server DB to a test server DB and I want to do it through tsql. The DB already exists on the test server, I just want to overwrite it with a fresh copy. There may or may not be some activity
on the test server that is connected to the database, but its not important and can be abandoned/discarded.
This is what Im getting ready to do
First, get an idea of what the file paths are specified in the backup file
RESTORE FILELISTONLY FROM DISK = 'file_back_to_backup here .back .dat etc'
Then, set the DB to singleuser mode, and discard any connections/transactions currently started
ALTER DATABASE MyDBName
SET SINGLE_USER WITH
ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE
Then, do the restore, specifying the paths to the mdf/ldf files that already exist.
RESTORE DATABASE MyDBName
FROM DISK
WITH MOVE 'db logical name' TO 'new data path .mdf', MOVE 'log logical name' TO 'new log path.ldf';
Questions:
(1) If I specify the data and log file paths as ones that already exist, will they be overwritten? This is what I want, as I just want to copy the prod db over to the test server.
(2) Do I need to explicitly reset the DB back to multiuser mode, or does this happen after the restore?
(3) Anything missing from the above script(s) ? Suggestions?

1.Just restore the backup with REPLACE command and it will overwrite the current database.
2.No , database will be automatically put to Multi user mode if you are restoring with recovery
3. Single user script is fine .Change restore script like no need to use with move option

I suspect you have a newer iMac than the pre-2006 models this forum covers (the forum labels are unbelieveably vague). If you can confirm that yours is newer than 2005, I can ask the Hosts to move you the the forum for current iMacs, which gets many more views.
