Ipod hifi - same songs at same time in different rooms?

Can you create a sound system using iPod HiFi so that you can play the same track from the iPod or computer in diferent rooms at the same time - like the Sonos wireless system but without wireless amps? Airport only allows you to control one hifi/stereo system at one time....
Jonathon

Thanks for that, but it doesn't answer my question. I
know how to connect my stereo to Airport, but what I
want to do is have the same tune playing
simultaneously in more than one room. Airport only
allows you to communicate with one stereo at one time
doesn't it?
With the most recent firmware and iTunes you can now stream the same audio to multiple Airport Express base stations, which will allow you to achieve the result you want.

  • Set on Shuffle, but I hear the same songs all the time

Recently, the iPod section in my iPhone 3GS has developed a very annoying habit: I always keep it set to shuffle all songs, and this has worked fine for years. Now, I always hear the same small selection of songs. I have a ton of music on my phone, so why has Shuffle stopped pulling from the whole music library?

I must be the only person this has happened to. Every time I start the music on my iPhone, it plays the same song, followed by the same sequence of other songs. If I fast forward until I come to some new music, the Phone reverts to the same song the next time I start the music. Is there a way to reshuffle the shuffle? It seems like it is stuck. I am at a loss as to how to attack this problem short of dumping all the music off the phone & re-adding it.

  • How do I open my itunes account on a new computer without having to buy all new songs? It doesn't seem fair to have to buy all the same songs a second time if they are already purchased by me and I just want them on my new computer!

There's a few different ways. The following document is worth checking through:

You probably have Repeat turned on.  While playing the song, tap the cover art to reveal the additional music controls (see photo below).  Tap the Repeat control  on the bottom left until it turns white (white is off, blue is on).

  • Re: Running the same (Forte) application multiple times -for different

    Hi
We had the same problem - how to deploy a number of identical applications, using each their own db.
    (for training).
The solution we used is to wrap the entire application into different applications by using a very small
module called KURSUS01, KURSUS02 etc, that did nothing but call the start procedure of the main app.
Then in the dbsession connect, we made a call appname to get the application name, and appended the
first 8 chars to the dbname. Thus our dbnames now points to logicals name: rdbdataKURSUS01, rdbdataKURSUS02 etc.
All this allows us to deploy the identical apps in the same env, or change one version, and run both the old
and new program on the same pc and server at the same time (eg. KURSUS01 and KURSUS02).
I also think this is a kludge - but it works nicely!

Subject: Running the same (Forte) application multiple times - for different business clients.
    Hi All
We have a number of different business clients all willing to use our
    application.
The (forte) application is to run on our machines etc for these (business)
    clients.
All (business) clients will have their data kept in separate Oracle DBs
    (instance).
The problem now is that the entire (forte) application is written using
    DBSessions.
Now, depending on what business client needs to be serviced (so to speak) we
need to attach to the right DB - or use the "right" SO.
The two options we can think of are:
    Option1:
Programatic change to somehow "know" what (business) client (DB) I'm talking
about and then use the right DB.
    Pro:
Only one forte environment to maintain
Can run multiple (business) clients on same PC at the same time
    Con:
    Requires many program changes
    bending O-O rules(?)
can't dynamically name SOs so can it be done at all? (ResourceMGRs maybe?)
    Option2:
Use separate environments! One for each business client.
    Pro:
More defined separation of app and data,
    SLA-easy
    Con:
    Maintain "n" number of environments
Can only run the application for one environment (business client) at a time
on one PC - Big Negative here!
Not knowing any feasible solution to option 1 (without much code changes and
developer moaning) I would go for option two; as I have already worked on
multi-environment setups on VMS back at the Hydro (hi guys).
I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has solved this problem.
    How, Why Pro Con etc.

Hi! I have a library of around 1000 songs on my iTunes, I recently synced my phone and all was lost, my partner has the same songs on hers with a different sign in, but not backed up anywhere, any suggestion on how I can store her tunes in my account ??? Then sync them to mine? When I sign her phone into her account I get a message warning that if I sync the dogs on her phone will be replaced by the ones in the library! But as there are no songs there I'm reluctant to continue!!! Please help this non techi guy.!!!!!

    Hello Solid Buck,
Thank you so much for providing the details about the duplicate song issue you are experiencing.  It sounds like you would like to remove the duplicate songs that will not play on your iPhone, but when you connect it to iTunes, iTunes only shows you one copy of the song on your iPhone.
In this situation, I recommend deleting the individual songs that do not play directly from your iPhone.  I found the steps to do this on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf):
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • My Ipod is playing the same songs all the time!! How do I fix this?

I have a 80gb Ipod classic. In Itunes I set the smart shuffle in Preferences to "less likely". I can't find a similar setting on my Ipod. Every time I play any Playlists on the Ipod using shuffle I always hear some of the same songs. Some playlists have thousands of songs and yet I seem to always hear the same ones. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

You can avoid repeating songs by setting up a playlist in iTunes and have iTunes shuffle that list, or you can create a playlist manually and set up the order. (The latter isn't the fun way to do so.) When you play that playlist on the iPod, turn the shuffle off and just play the list. As long as the playlist isn't lost, there won't be any repeats. This is the best way I can think of, because I have the same desire. (Remember, the list can be lost when you connect the iPod to the computer or even manually resetting it.)
I have about 7,000 songs on mine, and it still repeats and even overplays songs. It's irritating, but I just manually skip those songs.

  • Can i have the same song on itunes in 2 different playlist under 2 different genres

is there a way to have the same song in my itunes but 2 different playlist have it under different genre?

    ryane84 wrote:
if I make a smart playlist how do I pick rock for one song in my playlist but in another playlist have the same song but have it in pop genre
    ryane84:
I think we have all asked you why you feel the need to focus on the Genre of a song? It really doesn't matter, as there are other ways of achieving what you want and in an attempt to solve your problem, we have suggested several things:
The simplest is to create a regular playlist, with the songs you want, regardless of the genre. You choose the songs you want, add them to the Playlist, name it and you're done. Then your mother makes her own playlist with the songs she wants, again, regardless of Genre and regardless of whether any of those songs are in your Playlist. It makes no difference what the Genre of a song is - you put the songs you want into your Playlist, your mother puts the songs she wants in her Playlist. End of story.
If you wish to automate the process (and thereby make it easier to change the Playlist at a later date), I have suggested a Smart Playlist and given you step-by-step instructions to follow. You could have made that Playlist by now and seen for yourself whether it fits your needs.
None of this creates a second copy of the song (to address one of your other concerns).
If you and your mother are using the same iTunes Library, but have your own iPods, then perhaps you are each Syncing selected Playlists to your own devices. Again, that does not matter. The only difference in this case is that there will now be a copy of the song on each iPod. But only one copy in your iTunes Library.
    To finish -
you cannot have one song in two Genres.
You can simulate a second Genre for a song by using a Smart Playlist, as described in one of your other threads. If you are having difficulty following my instruction for the Smart Playlist (perhaps because of a minor error in that instruction), then tell us and we can sort it out.

  • Seamless playback within the same song, while switching to a different playlist

Sometimes I search for new music, start playing the top songs of an artist I don't know yet. And when I find a great track I would like to continue listening to it in the order of her album. Of course, I could add the album's tracks to my queue, but it would be so much easier, if I could simply click on the play-button of that same song and it keeps playing seamlessly. That way you could jump between playlists, top songs, albums etc. (as long as they share a song) without any interruption and without having to add and delete songs to your queue. I think that would be rather intuitive anyhow, but to make it extra easy to understand, a variation of the speaker symbol could be displayed with the song playing in every other place of Spotify.

Hi Marco, exactly. But other than by adding those tracks to the queue in my vision, the list of tracks changes every time I switch into a different list... hmm, hard to explain. Maybe it's easier with an example: 1. When I click on the top track of the artist alt-J, my queue looks like this:– Left Hand Free– Every Other Freckle– Breezeblocks– Hunger Of The Pine– Warm Foothills– Nara– Fitzpleasure– and so on... 2. When the track "Breezeblocks" is playing I am hooked and say "Cool, let me listen to the album from that point on". I switch to the album and then click on the playing song "Breezeblocks". My queue then looks like this:– Breezeblocks– (Guitar)– Something Good– and so on... until the end of the album 3. When the track "Something Good" is playing I find that this song is the wave I want to ride and search for a playlist with that song, so I click on "alt-J Something Good" by one Amanda McGlaughlin and my queue changes to this:– Something Good– Just A Girl– Shimmer - Single Version– Float On– and so on... So, instead of having to switch to my queue and delete the tracks I now don't want to listen to anymore (the ones from the album) and instead of having to listen to ALL of the songs of the artist after my added songs are played through, I have a simple one-click-control of what is playing next – always according to my current mood and without any interruption (could be a cool way to sonicate a party as well). I hope that makes it more clear. If not, please let me know. Best regardsAlexander

  • Can I have the same printer installed multiple times under different names?

On WIndows I have the same printer installed multiple times
    All using the same driver
I have a Canon printer that has a rear tray and a bottom tray
So, I will have one printer that prints to the rear and the other to the bottom
Other printers (the same one) will be set so that they print in high quality and in duplex for example
    I'll name the printers 1.Canon 2.Canon 3.Canon etc
So, when I go to print, I just hit a number on the keyboard and the printer I want is selected
Can I do the same on my laptop?
    Thanks
    Omar

Back Up - that's in case things go wrong.
    In the case you cite:
    You have
    Mother
    Mother Maiden Name
    as Faces, right?
In the Corkboard view click on Mother Maiden Name and delete the 'Maiden Name'.
It will disappear and all the photos will be in the Mother face.
Note that 'Mother' and 'Mother ' (that is, with a trailing space) are not the same.
You can  also just edit the name 'Mother Maiden Name' to 'Mother'
As for photos staying in manual sort, I can only say that mine do. But as I've no idea what troubleshooting steps you've used.
    Regards
    TD

  • Same songs synching each time despite no changes?

Each time I sync my iPhone I see between 11 to 15 songs being synched. However, my songs/playlists haven't changed. To reproduce the bug I do the following:
    1. Dock the iPhone, synch it.
    2. Select "eject".
    3. Repeat step 1.
Has anyone else noticed this bug?

I had the same problem, saw a similar thread and it suggested unchecking the problem songs. Here is what I did and it seems to work.
    1. Identify songs
    2. Uncheck songs in library
    3. Make sure "Only Sync Checked Songs" is selected
    4. Sync
    5. Eject
    6. Check songs
    7. Sync
    8. Verify songs are sync back to iPhone
    9. Eject
    10 Sync
    11. Verify the offending songs no longer sync

  • HT5035 I have purchased the same song about 5 times and it will not redeem my credit, why?

I redeemed the gift card number and the credit was added to the account as it appears on the top right corner.
When I go to buy the song, I have to type the password and it keeps asking me credit card details, as this is what I previously used to buy songs.
Shouldn't it automatically redeem the credit gift card, you have already redeemed from me?
This is very frustrating. You have taken my gift card yet still make it impossible for me to purchase.
I just want this **** song lol

Just for the record I ended up adding my credit card security number, finally purchased yippee!, and the 'itunes' credit was also debited automatically once I entered my credit card security number, so I have paid double for both songs.
Would appreciate if you guys could fix this glitch so it doesn't happen to other clients!

  • I have an old iPod that has songs on it from a different computer/itunes-.

I want to add these songs to my new iTunes account. Can I do that without losing songs?

    See:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
You can only copy them to a computer/iTunes library. You can't add them to your iTunes account. Accounts can't be merged.

I want to add multiples of the same song from different playlists to my ipod but iTunes wont let me. How can I override this so that I get the songs I want on my ipod?

You can sync those different playlists to the iPod, and the song appears on each playlist.  However, the song is stored on the iPod once.  What is the practical reason for wanting to store the same song file multiple times (and waste storage space) on the iPod?

  • How to fix: Music corrupts when transferred to ipod. This happens with the same songs on multiple ipods and the song plays regularly in itunes...

Basically, I've already described the problem. Some songs play perfectly fine in itunes but the same songs corrupt when placed on different devices of varying age. Therefore, I don't think there's something wrong with the original file and I don't think there's something wrong with all of my devices. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

    Hello there klundie,
I was researching the issue you are experiencing, and have come to the conclusion that the songs in question may need to be converted and re imported. This article, iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format outlines how to re import songs that are already in your itunes library, which I believe will resolve the issue.
You can find the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
To convert a song's file format:
    Open iTunes Preferences.
    Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Click the General button, then click the Importing Settings button in the second section of the window.
From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to, then click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library, then from the Advanced menu, choose one of the following (The menu item changes to show what's selected in your Importing preferences):
    Create MP3 version
    Create AAC version
    Create AIFF version
    Create WAV version
    Create Apple Lossless version
If you haven't imported some songs into iTunes yet, you can import and convert them at the same time. This will create a converted copy of the file in your iTunes Library based on your iTunes preferences. To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows) and choose Advanced > ConvertImport preference setting. The Import preference setting will match what you chose in step 3. iTunes will prompt you for the location of the folder or disk you want to import and convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted. Note: Some purchased songs are encoded using a protected AAC format that prevents them from being converted. iTunes Plus purchases are not protected and can be converted.
The song in its original format and the newly converted song appear in your library.
    All the best,
    Sterling
