IPod HiFi sound suddenly changed

Hi there,
Suddenly, my iHiFi changed sound - i.e. seems like it lost any bass sound, even if I have changed the settings to hear the difference. Anybody who has experienced the same and knows a solution ?
Thanks,
Peter

Please do the Restore on your iPod, see whether it works, if not
It could be a hardware issue:-
Unplug the batteries if any, and the ac power of the iPod HiFi for 15 minutes, and retry again, if does not solve you have to send it for service

  • Sudden Change in Sound

I have a nano 3rd generation and have used it just about daily with no problems. I used it yesterday morning and plugged it into our stereo and all of a sudden the sound quality was horrible. It was distant, tin sounding, and some of the sound levels weren't even coming through. I can't figure out what happened and how to fix it. Any ideas out there?

Well I had the same problem, until I cleaned it! Overtime, your ipod earphones get dirty- dust and other things accumulate in the mesh and prevent the sound from escaping...
After I clean my ipod, the sound increased ten fold, it became just as loud as when I bought it a year ago!
Here's how to clean your ipod earphones:
step 1: Rinse a cloth or sponge under hot water and ring until no water pours out ( the cloth/sponge should be damp, but NOT wet!). Gently wipe the wire mesh on the earphones.
Step 2: Then, with a dry toothbrush, brush the mesh for about two minutes or until clean.
And thats it! It worked for me, I hope it works for you

  • Ipod not recognize by iPod Hifi, neither by Bose Sound dock... seems ok

Hi, I'm facing a strange pb with my iPod 5th gen late 2006. It works very well with iTunes and in my car (on a Dension system), but my iPod Hi-Fi did not recognize the ipod, neither a Bose Sound dockstation. I also check with an iPod Hifi at a mac reseller, but it still didn't work.
It doesn't seems to be a hardware pb because the iPod works well on my card (dock connector) and with my Mac (connected with a usb cable).
I wonder what is wrong with my ipod. Oh, I also have an iPod Touch that works very well on both the iPod hifi and the Bose station..
Any help will be appreciated (i already have tried to reset/restore settings...)
    ipod firmware :1.3

Hum... I just found that post : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10224759&#10224759
Seems a firewire/usb issue... may be not the same... In my case the ipod 5th gen late 2006 won't chare n apple Hifi and BoseSoundDock AND it will not play music!
But I will give a try with a power adaptor, mayb the sound is not started because the device did not recognize my pod because of a charge problem..

The musictracks on my iPod Nano don't play till the end but suddenly change to the next track. How can I solve this problem ?

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

  • DVD optical cable to iPod HiFi sputtering

I recently bought a new DVD player with optical output. I bought an optical cable to connect it to my iPod HiFi. However the only audio that emerges is this bizzare sputtering, like a tiny engine or something - "pff pff pff pff pff pff pff", etc. I'm new to the world of optical connections. Any guidance as to what this problem could be?
Standard RCA to miniplug works fine, but I really wanted to try this optical hookup thing.

The thing is that, even though iPod HiFi does have optical input, it does not have integrated digital decoder for multi-channel signal decoding. To put it in a few words, DVD audio is usually Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1/6.1/7.1. This is not possible to listen on iPod HiFi because it does not understand that complex signal and cannot translate it to analog audio output it supports, hence the digital buzzing sound you hear when you connect a digital optical source. Try playing a DVD with your Mac’s DVD Player app and change the sound output format from analog to digital when connected to iPod HiFi by optical cable and you will hear what I am trying to explain.

  • Ipod HiFi using Airport Express

Anything I can do to eliminate distortion when I play songs from my computer via Airport Express on my Ipod HiFi? I've tried adjusting the volume, but songs still sound distorted; they get worse if I crank up the volume.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

first, make sure you play the same music file on your computer without any distortion, if yes check the EQ setting on your iTunes. Then recheck the following:-
    1. Are you using the optical cable from airport express to iPod HiFi or analogue minijack cable?, see change the type of cable help.
    2. Check your cable and make sure it is not a faulty one
    3. Is the signal of your airport express is strong enough?
    4. Make sure you plug tight enough on output of airport express and input of iPod HiFi
    5. Disconnecting your iPod HiFi for 15 minutes and try again

  • Best Way (cables) to hook up apple tv , ipod hifi and lcd tv

Hi everyone, i would like to know how is the best way to hook up those three devices, i would like the sound of the apple tv to go out from the ipod hifi with digital audio cable and the apple tv acting as the airtunes. Thank you in advance.

Your best connection to the tv will be HDMI, failing which use component.
The  ipod hifi has a 3.5 mm mini jack I believe but I don't think the tv optical doubles as a mimi jack, so I believe you would use a 3.5 mm mini jack to stereo RCA cable for the audio connection.

  • Have I an Ipod HiFi A1121 and I would like to know if it is possible to use my iphone 4 with it.

I have an Ipod HiFi A1121 and I would like to know if it is possible to use my iphone 4 with it. Thanks.

    Hello,
Yes, you can use your iPhone 4 with it, but I don't recommend using it with the dock connector as it wasn't designed for the iPhone 4 and you may have unexpected results.
I recommend using it with the auxilliary jack on the back of the unit.  That's how I use mine and it works great to this very day.  The iPod-Hifi is still an amazing and great sounding unit and they're incredibly rare to find now of days.  I saw one on sale at Amazon.com for $999 haha!

  • IPod Hifi as Home Cinema Speakers!! Opinion anyone ?

Ok theres no surround sound option but I wanted to do a quick test with a new LCD projector I bought. I hooked it up to a DVD and then the sound went straight from the DVD player to the input socket on the back of the iPod HIFI and to be honest I was listening to it and thinking **** this is really good sound!! now I'm the first to admit that I am obviously not a complete freak when it comes to sound and as long as it sounds okay to me then thats all that matters. I just wanted to hear other peoples views on using the iPod Hifi as a home cinema solution (minus the surround sound part!!!)

Starfrog, I think you've answered your own question already. You tried it, liked it, and profess not to be a sound freak, so stick with it. you could have hundreds of purists tell you it's no good, but at the end of the day, it works for you and that's all that matters.
The sound is great, I love mine and am glad to finally be rid of the tiny, tinny little stopgaps that preceded this unit - but I wont be replacing my home theater speaker setup with the HiFi.

  • IMac connection to Ipod Hifi

Ipod Hifi perfectly working with my Ipod but... but no sound when connecting my Imac to my Ipod Hifi with an optical cable (Mini toslink at both end).
No solution found with the guys from the Apple store....
    Do you have a solution?

    Have you read this?
How do I switch playback from an iPod to a device connected to the audio input port?
If you have an iPod connected to the dock connector port and a different audio device connected to the audio input port you can select between the playback of these two devices by press and holding the Menu button on the remote.

  • Ipod Hifi + Airport Express - Do I need a cable as well ??

    Folks
I've just ordered an Ipod Hifi ( I hope they don't bring out a black one now! ) and an Airport Express from Amazon - much cheaper than Apple store.
I'd like to use Airtunes from my laptop via Airport Express and also have the Hifi connected up to an LCD TV to improve the sound.
Which connection cable do I need to order for here in the UK ?

    Hi,
You need only one of the following cable for connection between Airport Express and iPod HiFi
    1. For optical cable for Mini-Adapter
    http://www.welovemacs.com/av2000106wht.html
    2. For Analogue
analogue cable with minijack both ends

  • Ipod hifi - same songs at same time in different rooms?

Can you create a sound system using iPod HiFi so that you can play the same track from the iPod or computer in diferent rooms at the same time - like the Sonos wireless system but without wireless amps? Airport only allows you to control one hifi/stereo system at one time....
    Jonathon

Thanks for that, but it doesn't answer my question. I
know how to connect my stereo to Airport, but what I
want to do is have the same tune playing
simultaneously in more than one room. Airport only
allows you to communicate with one stereo at one time
    doesn't it?
With the most recent firmware and iTunes you can now stream the same audio to multiple Airport Express base stations, which will allow you to achieve the result you want.

  • New iPod Touch Sound Quality

I am really interested in comparisons of sound quality between the various generations of iPod.
Unquestionably, compression method and headphones play a critical factor, but taking these aside, I would be interested in people’s comments on particularly the 2nd Generation iPod Touch, and if anybody is aware of any technical analysis to compliment their listening views.
Has the sound quality changed over this last year with new software releases for the iPod touch in general?
I am aware of Mark Heijliger’s excellent analysis up to the 6G iPod at http://homepage.mac.com/marc.heijlig...surements.html, and was wondering if anybody was aware of a similar analysis for the iPod Touchs.
Finally (sorry!), with the new 120GB iPod Classic, does this have the same Cirrus Logic audio codec chip as the older 80GB and 160GB versions. I.e. can I presume that the sound quality (which has been questioned by a number of posters on this forum) is going to be the same?

Well I don't have time to experiment in detail with and document technical analyses about the device but I will say that I did briefly compare it to the 2nd generation Nano as well as my home stereo using the same files (a couple of 256kbit AAC files ripped by myself in iTunes 8; one rock and one hip hop) several times and I enjoyed the resulting similarity throughout the various sources.
I'm quite content with the sound quality coming from this device... and I'm pretty anal about these things generally.

  • Sudden change in battery performance

Hello. I am having trouble with my battery. I charge my phone every night, and ever since the last software update (2.1) have had great performance. This performance has changed this week, as my battery is already drained today at 230p. (Last week I could go all day and not get the low battery warning.) I have not made any calls today and have only used the ipod for ~30 minutes and email for ~5 minutes. 3G is turned off. Wifi is turned off. Bluetooth is turned off. Has anyone else seen a similar sudden change in performance? Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I could understand losing charge if I was using the phone, but since it's just sitting idle in my pocket I cannot figure out why I would have such a low battery.
    Thanks

Something just got stuck in memory processing.
    Try a reboot (described below).
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.
You may also wish to read this tread about reboots and odd application behavior.
